There are very few research works that focus on the magnitude e ects on such induced unbalance vibration. In this paper, a finite element model(FEM) is developed to characterize a realistic automotive TC rotor with floating ring bearings(FRBs). The nonlinear dynamic responses of the TC rotor system with di erent levels of induced unbalance magni?tude in compressor and turbine wheels are calculated. From the results of waterfall and response spectral intensity plots, the bifurcation and instability phenomena depend on unbalance magnitude during the startup of TC. The sub?synchronous component 0.12× caused rotor unstable is the dominant frequency for small induced unbalance. The nonlinear e ects of induced unbalance in the turbine wheel is obvious stronger than the compressor wheel. As the unbalance magnitude increases from 0.05 gbration 1·mm to 0.2 g·mm, the vibration component changes from mainly 0.12× to synchronous vi×. When unbalance increases continuously, the rotor vibration response amplitude is rapidly growing and the 1× caused by the large unbalance excitation becomes the dominant frequency. A suitable un?balance magnitude of turbine wheel and compressor wheel for the high?speed TC rotor with FRBs is proposed: the value of induced un?balance magnitude should be kept around 0.2 g·mm.展开更多

Conditions such as osteoporosis severely impact onquality of life and result in hundreds of hours of hospital time and resources. There is growing interest in the use of low magnitude, high frequency vibration(LMHFV) to improve bone structure and muscle performance in a variety of different patient groups. The technique has shown promise in a number of different diseases, but is poorly understood in terms of the mechanism of action. Scientific papers concerning both the in vivo and in vitro use of LMHFV are growing fast, but they cover a wide range of study types, outcomes measured and regimens tested. This paper aims to provide an overview of some effects of LMHFV found during in vivo studies. Furthermore we will review research concerning the effects of vibration on the cellular responses, in particular for cells within the musculoskeletal system. This includes both osteogenesis and adipogenesis, as well as the interaction between MSCs and other cell types within bone tissue.展开更多

While they can be routinely determined from broadband P waveforms with iterative inver- sion procedures, the inversion procedures may fail when the rupture either lasts longer than the interval between P and later ar- rivals or requires too much time or human intervention. Little contaminated by later arrivals, high frequency P waves are useful for modeling earthquake source processes, though the envelope waveform is affected by strong scattering in lithosphere. With high frequency envelopes from aftershocks as Empirical Green's Function (EGF), the coda effects can be removed and more accurate relative source time function (RSTF) of the main shock can be obtained. Assuming that RSTFs cannot be negative, we use the projected Landweber deconvolution method (PLD) to obtain high frequency RSTFs because PLD method has the ad- vantage of non-negativity, causality, and compactness (finite duration). We are able to determine rupture durations of four large earthquakes: the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake, the 2005 Nias event, the 2006 Java event, and the 2011 Tokuko earthquake. The rupture durations of the Sumatra-Andaman, Nias, and Tohuko events are found to be around 550, 1 i0, and 120 s respectively, consistent with previous studies. The rupture duration of the Java event is about 130 s, supporting that the Java event is a tsunami earthquake. The magnitudes of these earthquakes are found to depend on both the amplitude and the duration of the deconvolved waveforms, and can be approximated by integrating these waveforms.展开更多

However, current knowledge is limited regarding the possible benefit of this mechanical regimen to other bone sites and whether the optimal rest days are the same. This study followed our previous experiment on LMHFV loading with rest days for three-month-old male Wistar rats. The experiment involved seven groups, namely, vibrational loading for X day followed with X day rest(X=1, 3, 5, 7), daily vibrational loading, tail suspension and baseline control. Micro-computed tomography(micro-CT) scanning was used to evaluate the microarchitecture of the distal femoral trabecular bone. Micro-CT image-based microfinite element analysis was performed for each distal femoral metaphysis. LMHFV with rest days substantially changed the trabecular arrangement from remarkably plate-like to rod-like. Vibrational loading with 1 day rest was substantially effective in improving the architecture and apparent-and tissuelevel mechanical properties of the rat distal femoral metaphysis. This study may provide an improved understanding of the sitespecific responses of bone tissue to LMHFV with rest days for a substantially effective therapy of a targeted bone site.展开更多
