The growth kinetics of solid/liquid interface are determined by the local equilibrium composition and local actual liquid composition, and the calculation of the solid fraction increment is based on these two compositions to avoid the solution of growth velocity. In order to validate the developed model, quantitative simulations of steady-state dendritic features over a range of undercooling was performed and the results exhibited good agreement with the predictions of LGK(Liptone Glicksman-Kurz) model. Meanwhile, it is demonstrated that the proposed model can be applied to simulate multiple equiaxed dendritic growth, as well as columnar dendritic growth with or without equiaxed grain formation in directional solidification of AleC u alloys. It has been shown that the model is able to simulate the growth process of multi-dendrites with various preferential orientations and can reproduce a wide range of complex dendritic growth phenomena such as nucleation, coarsening of dendrite arms, side branching in dendritic morphologies, competitive growth as well as the interaction among surrounding dendrites.展开更多

In this note, the preparation of seed, the growth of crystal and ...BiB3O6 (BIBO) single crystals with sizes of 44 mm × 24 mm × 10 mm and weight of 24.7 g have been successfully grown by the top-seeded method. In this note, the preparation of seed, the growth of crystal and some problems encountered are reported. The lattice parameters of BIBO are a =7.1203(7)A, b = 4.9948(7)A, c = 6.5077(7)A, β= 105.586(8) ", V=222.93(5)A3, which were determined by BRUKER-P4 four-circle diffractometer. BIBO is biaxial crystal and the relative orientation of (X, Y, Z) with regard to (a, b, c) is: X|| b, (Y, c) =47.2°, (Z, a) = 31.6°, determined by the X-ray analysis combined with polarized microscopy. The second-harmonic-generation (SHG) conversion efficiency of the sample for 1.064 μm light is up to 67.7%. We have also obtained the third harmonic generation (THG) of 1.064 μm, namely, 1.064 μm + 0.532 μn →0.355 μm. BIBO crystal is free of moisture and hygroscopy.展开更多
Transparent Al_(2)O_(3) ceramics with grains aligned to the c-axis were prepared by adding platelets with a low aspect ratio into fine equiaxed particles.The mixed powders were formed into green bodies using spontaneo...Transparent Al_(2)O_(3) ceramics with grains aligned to the c-axis were prepared by adding platelets with a low aspect ratio into fine equiaxed particles.The mixed powders were formed into green bodies using spontaneous coagulation casting and sintered by pressureless sintering and hot-isostatic pressure sintering.Zeta potentials and rheological behavior of the slurries,relative densities of green bodies,and orientation and optical properties of sintered bodies were investigated and discussed.The platelet with a high aspect ratio suppressed densification more seriously during sintering than the one with a low aspect ratio.An excellent oriented structure was obtained when 5 wt%platelets with a low aspect ratio were added,and transparent Al_(2)O_(3) ceramics with grains aligned to c-axis were successfully prepared;the in-line transmittance was 78.4%at 600 nm,which is the highest one in the currently reported literature.展开更多
