This paper reports the structural effects of three-dimensional(3-D)angle-interlock woven composite(3DAWC)undergoing three-point bending cyclic loading from experimental and finite element analysis(FEA)approaches.In ex...This paper reports the structural effects of three-dimensional(3-D)angle-interlock woven composite(3DAWC)undergoing three-point bending cyclic loading from experimental and finite element analysis(FEA)approaches.In experiment,the fatigue tests were conducted to measure the bending deflection and to observe the damage morphologies.By the FEA approach,a micro-structural unit-cell model of the 3DAWC was established at the yarn level to simulate the fatigue damage.The stress degradation at the loading condition of constant deformation amplitude was calculated to show the degradation of mechanical properties.In addition,the stress distribution,fatigue damage evolution and critical damage regions were also obtained to qualitatively reveal the structural effects and damage mechanisms of the 3DAWC subjected to three-point bending cyclic loading.展开更多

The main idea i...We propose a mass-conservative and monotonicity-preserving characteristic finite element method for solving three-dimensional transport and incompressibleNavier-Stokes equations on unstructured grids. The main idea in the proposed algorithm consists of combining a mass-conservative and monotonicity-preserving modified method of characteristics for the time integration with a mixed finite elementmethod for the space discretization. This class of computational solvers benefits fromthe geometrical flexibility of the finite elements and the strong stability of the modi-fied method of characteristics to accurately solve convection-dominated flows usingtime steps larger than its Eulerian counterparts. In the current study, we implementthree-dimensional limiters to convert the proposed solver to a fully mass-conservativeand essentially monotonicity-preserving method in addition of a low computationalcost. The key idea lies on using quadratic and linear basis functions of the mesh element where the departure point is localized in the interpolation procedures. Theproposed method is applied to well-established problems for transport and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in three space dimensions. The numerical resultsillustrate the performance of the proposed solver and support its ability to yield accurate and efficient numerical solutions for three-dimensional convection-dominatedflow problems on unstructured tetrahedral meshes.展开更多

Roll flat- tening theory is an important part of the plate shape theory. To improve the accuracy of roll flattening calculation based on semi infinite body model, especially near the two roll barrel edges, a new and more accurate roll flattening model is proposed. Based on boundary integral equation method, an analytical model for solving a finite length semi infinite body is established. The lateral surface displacement field of the finite length semi-infinite body is simulated by finite element method (FEM) and lateral surface displacement decay functions are established. Based on the boundary integral equation method, the numerical solution of the finite length semi-infinite body under the distribu ted force is obtained and an accurate roll flattening model is established. Different from the traditional semi-infinite body model, the matrix form of the new roll flattening model is established through the mathematical derivation.
