We propose a trellis-compressed maximum likelihood sequence estimation(TC-MLSE)-assisted sliding-block decision feedback equalizer(DFE)to suppress the error propagation resulting from the DFE in high-speed systems.We ...We propose a trellis-compressed maximum likelihood sequence estimation(TC-MLSE)-assisted sliding-block decision feedback equalizer(DFE)to suppress the error propagation resulting from the DFE in high-speed systems.We use an out-ofrange detector to detect the end of burst errors from the DFE and activate the optional TC-MLSE to correct burst errors.We conduct experiments to transmit a 201-Gbit/s PAM-8 signal.The results show that the proposed method achieves a bit error rate of 3.65×10^(-3),which is close to that of MLSE.The optional MLSE is only activated when needed and processes 11.4%of the total symbols.Moreover,the proposed method compresses the maximum length of burst errors from 19 to 5.展开更多

Inspired by flight biology,morphing flight technology has great potential to improve the adaptability and maneuverability of aircraft.This paper is devoted to the flight control problem of morphing aircraft,and aimed ...Inspired by flight biology,morphing flight technology has great potential to improve the adaptability and maneuverability of aircraft.This paper is devoted to the flight control problem of morphing aircraft,and aimed at safe and fuel-saving flight through morphing actively.Specifically,the longitudinal dynamics of a morphing aircraft with telescopic wings is modelled as a strict-feedback nonlinear system.Through fitting the expression of aerodynamic parameters by the mor-phing ratio,the model uncertainties induced by morphing errors are embedded in the dynamics.To meet the safety and fuel-saving requirements,an Adaptive Coordinated Tracking Control Scheme(ACTCS)is then proposed,which consists of a morphing control module and a tracking control module.For the morphing control module,an on-line morphing decision model is given in an optimization process with respect to the morphing ratio,and a second-order tracking filter is introduced to smooth the decision output and ensure the physical realizability.For the tracking control module,the novel adaptive controllers for the velocity and altitude subsystems are proposed based on the dynamic surface control method,in which adaptive mechanisms are designed to com-pensate for the model uncertainties.Finally,the proposed ACTCS is simulated in nine different cases of the test flight mission,to verify its effectiveness,robustness and fuel-saving effect.展开更多
To improve spectrum utilization and minimize interference to Primary User (PU), an adaptive spectrum decision method is proposed for Secondary User (SU), while taking traffic load balancing and spectrum heterogeneity ...To improve spectrum utilization and minimize interference to Primary User (PU), an adaptive spectrum decision method is proposed for Secondary User (SU), while taking traffic load balancing and spectrum heterogeneity into consideration. Long-term statistics and current sensing results are integrated into the proposed decision method of spectrum access. Two decision methods, namely probability based and sensing based, are presented, compared and followed by performance analysis in terms of delay. For probability based spectrum decision, Short-Time-Job-First (STJF) priority queuing discipline is employed to minimize average residual time and theoretical conclusion is derived in a novel way. For sensing based decision we treat the interrupted service of SU as newly incoming and re-decision process is initialized to find available spectrum in a First-Available-First-Access (FAFA) fashion. Effect of sensing error in PHY layer is also analyzed in terms of extended average residual time. Simulation results show that, for relatively low arriving rate of SU traffic, the proposed spectrum decision method yields at least a delay reduction of 39.5% compared with non-adaptive method. The proposed spectrum decision can significantly improve delay performance even facing sensing errors, which cause performance degeneration to both PU and SU.展开更多

For this end, the concept of level set is used to construct the error function. In addition, we introduce the concept of deviation variable in the definition of the error function. The algorithm of the new approach is summarized in three main steps: first, we transform the original fuzzy problem into a deterministic one by choosing a specific level . second, we solve separately each uni-criteria problem and we compute the error function for each criteria. Finally, we minimize the sum of error functions in order to obtain the desired compromise solution. A numerical example is done for a comparative study with some existing approaches to show the effectiveness of the new approach.展开更多

Yet, delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis remain as vital problems, consequently impose adverse effects on patient treatment. Sexually transmitted disease (STD) is one of the most common infectious diseases, and more than one million of STD cases are acquired every day globally. Misdiagnosis of STD inevitably exists, therefore should not be overlooked. Being a medical diagnostic laboratory providing various STDs diagnosing service in Hong Kong, we aimed to determine the misdiagnosis rate of STDs and investigate the possible underlying cause. Methods: Specimens were collected for STD diagnosis from multiple clinics during 1 June 2021 to 20 October 2021 from different clinics and hospitals were included in the study. DNA extraction was performed using magnetic bead based method;then the extracted DNA was tested using the DiagCor GenoFlow<sup>TM</sup> STD Array kit to detect the existence of any targeted pathogens. Results: 1459 specimens were collected and included during the designated time period, with 643 specimens found to be positive with at least one targeted STD pathogen. 494 of these were found to be aligned with test ordered by physicians, and the remaining 149 positive cases had at least one pathogen detected but not requested to be tested by the physicians resulting in misdiagnosis. The overall misdiagnosis rate was determined to be 23.2% (149/643), with high frequency of misdiagnosis occurred to tests ordered for one to three pathogens detection. Also, Ureaplasma urealyticum and/or Ureaplasma parvum (UU/UP) was the commonest pathogen detected in this study. Conclusion: The findings suggested incorrect test selection made by physicians was one of the major reasons of STDs misdiagnosis in outpatient settings. To reduce diagnostic errors in STD diagnosis, physicians are encouraged to select and request test that allow detection of multiple pathogens, as co-infection of multipl展开更多
