A variant of pigeon-inspired optimization named multi-objective pigeon-inspired optimization(MPIO) is proposed in this paper. It is also adopted to solve the multi-objective optimization problems in designing the parameters of brushless direct current motors, which has two objective variables, five design variables, and five constraint variables. Furthermore, comparative experimental results with the modified non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm are given to show the feasibility, validity and superiority of our proposed MIPO algorithm.展开更多

To effectively control the start-up current of the sensorless HS-BLDC motor, an adaptive control method is proposed based on the adaptive neural network(ANN)inverse system and the two degrees of freedom(2-DOF) internal model controller(IMC). The HS-BLDC motor is identified by the online least squares support vector machine(OLS-SVM) algorithm to regulate the ANN inverse controller parameters in real time. A pseudo linear system is developed by introducing the constructed real-time inverse system into the original HS-BLDC motor system. Based on the characteristics of the pseudo linear system, an extra closed-loop feedback control strategy based on the 2-DOF IMC is proposed to improve the transient response performance and enhance the stability of the control system. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed control method is effective and perfect start-up current tracking performance is achieved.展开更多

The parameter variation, the cogging torque and the load disturbance easily influence its performance. Therefore,it is difficult to achieve superior performance by using the conventional PID controller. To solve the deficiency,the paper represents the algorithm of active-disturbance rejection control ( ADRC) based on back-propagation ( BP) neural network. The ADRC is independent on accurate system and its extended-state observer can estimate the disturbance of the system accurately. However,the parameters of Nonlinear Feedback ( NF) in ADRC are difficult to obtain. So in this paper,these parameters are self-turned by the BP neural network. The simulation and experiment results indicate that the ADRC based on BP neural network can improve the performances of the servo system in rapidity,control accuracy,adaptability and robustness.展开更多

This motor is characteris...This article presents a novel electrical/mechanical hybrid 4-redundancy brushless DC torque motor (BLDCM), which has found applications in direct drive actuators (DDA) of aerial vehicles. This motor is characteristic of electrical/mechanical hybrid 4-redundancy by securing two stators along with two rotors on the same shaft. Each stator contains two sets of windings embed- ded in separated slots. Furthermore, compared to the scheme of two electrical dual-redundancy BLDCMs linked by a mechanical transmission, the proposed motor has lower volume and lighter weight, eliminates the nonlinearity caused by the gap of the me- chanical transmission, moderates the requirement for the torque balance between redundancies and reduces the cogging torque by shifting the magnets. Both magnetic circuit calculation and the finite element analysis (FEA) of the electromagnetic field are conducted to optimize the design process. A prototype motor has been produced and tested. The results indicate that its perform- ances comply with the requirements presented by designers. Moreover, the position frequency response of the prototype in the DDA's unloaded situation has also demonstrated the fulfillment of desired dynamic characteristics.展开更多

There are three identical flywheels orthogonally mounted on board. Each rotor is driven by a brushless DC motor (BLDCM). Models of spacecraft attitude dynamics and flywheel rotor driving motor electromechanics are discussed in detail. The controller design is similar to saturation limit linear assignment. An auxiliary parameter and a boundary coefficient are imported into the controller to guaran- tee system stability and improve control performance. A time-varying and state-dependent flywheel output torque saturation limit model is established. Stability of the closed-loop control system and asymptotic convergence of system states are proved via Lyapunov methods and LaSalle invariance principle. Boundedness of the auxiliary parameter ensures that the control objective can be achieved, while the boundary parameter's value makes a balance between system control performance and flywheel utilization efficiency. Compared with existing controllers, the newly developed controller with variable torque saturation limit can bring smoother control and faster system response. The brushless doubly-fed machine(BDFM)is a family of multiport electric machines with two ac electrical ports and a common mechanical port.Different from the conventional singly-fed machines whose synchronous speed is...The brushless doubly-fed machine(BDFM)is a family of multiport electric machines with two ac electrical ports and a common mechanical port.Different from the conventional singly-fed machines whose synchronous speed is solely determined by a single supply frequency and the actual pole pair number,the BDFM has two supply frequencies and two different pole pair numbers to control the rotor speed.By the two accessible electrical ports,all BDFMs are endowed with more degrees of freedom for speed and power control,inherent fault-tolerant capability and high reliability.The BDFM in its broad sense has been extensively investigated as a promising alternative to the conventional slip-ring doubly-fed induction machine(DFIM)during the past decades,for both limited and wide speed range applications.This paper presents a new theoretical framework of the BDFM within which all topological variants can be closely linked by the similarities in working principle.The individualities of each machine topology are presented first,followed by the commonalities such as the modeling techniques,modes of operation,design considerations and control strategies.The challenges are identified and highlighted based on recent developments and possible opportunities are predicted considering the unique nature of this special AC machine type.展开更多
