Islay 3D is another educat...The three-dimensional (3D) interactive animations and video games are so attractive that successful educational programming environments like Alice and Kodu Game Lab deal with 3D characters. Islay 3D is another educational programming environment of which feature is an intuitively comprehensive user interface in terms of state transition diagrams. Unfortunately its animation definition was too memory-hungry when played by the built-in interpreter. In this paper, we present a translator of the animation definitions of Islay 3D into ActionScript3 (AS3). Compiling the AS3 codes by way of Papervision3D, we obtain the 3D Flash animation file playable on the Flash platform. It will be shown that the memory and CPU usages will be much saved, quartered and halved, respectively, by virtue of the translator.展开更多
Background Computer Generated Animations(CGA),when applied to three-dimensional(3D)city models(3DCM),can be used as powerful tools to support urban decision-making.This leads to a new paradigm,based on procedural mode...Background Computer Generated Animations(CGA),when applied to three-dimensional(3D)city models(3DCM),can be used as powerful tools to support urban decision-making.This leads to a new paradigm,based on procedural modeling,that allows the integration of known urban structures.Methods This paper introduces a new workflow for the development of high-quality approximations of urban models in a short time and enables facilities to be imported from other cities into a given city model,following specific generation rules.Results Thus,this workflow provides a very simple approach to observe,study,and simulate the implementation of models already developed in other cities,in a city where they are not yet adopted.Examples of these models include all types of mobility systems and urban infrastructure.Conclusions This allows us to perceive the environmental impact of certain decisions in the real world,as well as to carry out simple simulations to determine the changes that can occur in the flows of people,traffic,and other city activities.展开更多

Tourism offers and services should be complete, current, and qualitative through all phases of the planning process, starting from preparation to implementation. The modem tourist offer of services involves production of multivalorized natural, anthropogenic, communicative, and receptive values of a particular facility or geographic area as a tourist destination target. The tourist or client should experience complete "tour-retour", or as stated in the tourism "I came, saw, took, in order to come back again", through all the stages, from the preparation of the travel, the stay, up to the departure. Tourism, in the near future, or the tourist dialectical development in order to be completely realized, must pass through the so-called tourist triad from audiovisual or real, to virtual or imagined and to virtuous or perfect. In that case, an ecstasy of admiration, enhancement, prowess, joy, pleasure, excitement, success, and happiness will cause tourists to visit the place again. In sexually dimorphic species characterized by exaggerated male ornamentation,behavioral isola-tion is often attributed to female preferences for conspecific male signals.Yet,in a number of sexu-ally dimorphic species...In sexually dimorphic species characterized by exaggerated male ornamentation,behavioral isola-tion is often attributed to female preferences for conspecific male signals.Yet,in a number of sexu-ally dimorphic species,male mate choice also results in behavioral isolation.In many of these cases,the female traits that mediate species boundaries are unclear.Females in sexually dimorphic species typically lack many of the elaborate traits that are present in males and that are often used for taxonomic classification of species.In a diverse and largely sexually dimorphic group of fishes called darters(Percidae:Etheostoma),male mate choice contributes to behavioral isolation be-tween a number of species;however,studies addressing which female traits males prefer are lack-ing.In this study,we identified the dominant female pattern for two sympatric species,Etheostoma zonale and Etheostoma barrenense,using pattern energy analysis,and we used discriminate func-tion analysis to identify which aspects of female patterning can reliably classify species.We then tested the role of female features in male mate choice for E.zonale,by measuring male preference for computer animations displaying the identified(species specific)conspecific features.We found that the region above the lateral line is important in mediating male mate preferences,with males spending a significantly greater proportion of time with animations exhibiting conspecific female patterning in this region than with animations exhibiting heterospecific female patterning.Our results suggest that the aspects of female phenotypes that are the target of male mate choice are different from the conspicuous male phenotypes that traditionally characterize species.展开更多
The solar flare is one of the most violent explosions,and can disturb the near-Earth space weather.Except for commonly single-peaked solar flares in soft X-ray,some special flares show intriguing a two-peak feature th...The solar flare is one of the most violent explosions,and can disturb the near-Earth space weather.Except for commonly single-peaked solar flares in soft X-ray,some special flares show intriguing a two-peak feature that is deserved much more attentions.Here,we reported a confined two-peaked solar flare and analyzed the associated eruptions using high-quality observations from Educational Adaptive-optics Solar Telescope and Solar Dynamics Observatory.Before the flare,a magnetic flux rope(MFR)formed through partially tether-cutting reconnection between two sheared arches.The flare occurred after the MFR eruption that was confined by the overlying strong field.Interestingly,a small underlying filament immediately erupted,which was possibly destabilized by the flare ribbon.The successive eruptions were confirmed by the analysis of the emission measure and the reconnection fluxes.Therefore,we suggest that the two peaks of the confined solar flare are corresponding to two episodes of magnetic reconnection during the successive eruptions of the MFR and the underlying filament.展开更多
