For December 24-27 there occurred a heavy fog lasting 4 d in succession. This event is of rare characteristics, namely long persistence, high concentration, tall fog top, acid fog water and explosive growth. Detailed analysis along with the causes of the fog was presented. The evidence suggests that the fog was generated by nighttime radiative cooling, maintained and developed under effects of warm, wet advection. As a result, it is an advection-radiation fog event.展开更多

Analytical method of SO2 in fogwaters has been established. From south to north and from east to west in Qingdao, the pollution of SO2 changes strongly, its concentrations are in the ranges 0. 03-14. 00 mg/L. Pollution regions of acid fog were divided with weight factors of pH value. SO2, SO3 and NO2. The mark values of pH, SO2, SO3 and NO2 are given in the same pollution dergee, i. e. 0. 48 pH unit, 2. 5l, 42. 13 and 3. 42 mg/L respectively. The efficient projects of controlling acid fog pollution has ben suggested in this paper. This has an impor tant role in the research of the globe acidic precipitation.展开更多

From 1982, some trees began to die. Since then, half of the trees have died and the whole forest is in danger. Prom November 1986 to January 1987, a study dealt with the characteristics of fogwater in that area was carried out, in order to explain the relationship between acid fog and masson pine decline. The results of our study showed that the acid fog might be responsible in part for the decline of the masson pine forest.展开更多
