Its physicochemical properties, including monosaccharide composition, carbohydrate content, molecular weight and elemental composition, were determined. The structure of YhPS-1 was elucidated by chemical methods along with ^1H and ^13C NMR spectroscopy ways, such as including two-dimensional HMQC and HMBC experiments. These results show that YhPS-1 possesses a backbone consisting of terminal α-Glcp-(1→, a-Glcp-(1→6), a-Glcp-(1→4) and a-Glcp-(1→4,6). The bioactive assay showed that it could inhibit the growth of Sarcoma 180 and Lewis pulmonary carcinoma implanted in mice.展开更多

Much effort has been devoted to studies of fog across many areas of China, and in that context this paper aims to summarize climatic characteristics and review fog field experiments and their major results relating to fog mechanisms, physical properties and chemical characteristics. Progress in the application of remote sensing techniques and numerical simulation in fog research are also discussed. In particular, the effects of urbanization and industrialization on fog are highlighted. To end, perspectives on future fog research are outlined. The goal of this review paper is to introduce fog research in China to the global academic community and thus promote international collaboration on fog research. This is important because most papers on fog in China are published in Chinese, which are unreadable for the vast majority of non-Chinese researchers.展开更多

In this study, the sensory quality and physicochemical properties of three japonica rice varieties harvested in two different growing locations(Xiangshui and Hangzhou of China) were compared to determine the most important factors affecting the sensory quality. All the three varieties had higher scores for overall sensory quality in Xiangshui than in Hangzhou, indicating that the growing location is a key factor in determining the sensory quality of cooked japonica rice. In addition to growing location, variety(genotype) also had an important effect. Longdao 18 scored the highest for overall sensory quality in the two locations, whereas Longdao 30 had the lowest score in Xiangshui, and both Longdao 20 and Longdao 30 had the lowest scores in Hangzhou. Many physicochemical properties, such as apparent amylose content, protein content, thermal properties and free amino acid contents, showed significant differences between the two locations. Correlation analysis showed that apparent amylose content and protein content had contrasting effects on all the sensory attributes. The overall sensory quality was negatively correlated with protein content(r =-0.89, P < 0.01) and positively correlated with gel hardness(r = 0.91, P < 0.01),indicating that the protein content and hardness are important physicochemical properties for predicting the sensory quality of japonica rice. These findings will provide guidance for selection from the diverse genotypes available to develop new varieties with the desired eating and cooking quality.展开更多

If discharged directly without adequate treatment, these elements can lead to adverse effects on the environment. Therefore, it is very necessary to determine how to separate these elements from the dust before discharge, Several physical and chemical detection methods were used to study the basic properties of sintering dust. At the same time, preliminary experiments on the recovery of the potassium resources from the sintering dust were carried out. The mean particle size of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) dust determined by a laser granulometer was 41.468 ~tm. Multi-point BET and single-point BET analysis showed that the surface area of the ESP dust was 2.697 mZ/g. XRD measurements detected the following phases in the ESP dust: Fe203, Fe304, KC1 and NaC1, and Fe203, Fe304 and SiO2 in the water-washed dust. SEM-EDS results proved that in the ESP dust, K mostly existed in the form of KC1 particles without being coated. Leaching experiments showed that the KCI in the ESP dust could be separated and recovered by water leaching and fractional crystallization. Through the recovery experiments, the yield of K-Na vaporized crystalline salt was 18.56%, in which the mass fractions of KCl, NaCl, CaSO4 and K2SO4 were about 61.03%, 13.58%, 14.03% and 9.97%, respectively. This process is technically viable and considerable in economic benefit. There was almost no secondary pollution produced in the whole recovery process.展开更多

The kinetic adsorption of ammonium nitrogen (NH+-N) by CW substrate materials such as blast furnace slag (BFS), zeolite, ceramsite, vermiculite, gravel, paddy soil, red soil, and turf, was investigated using batch experiments and kinetic adsorption isotherms. Both Freundlich and Lang- muir isotherms could adequately predict the NH+-N adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacities of NH+-N, estimated from the Langmuir isotherm, ranked as: zeolite (33 333.33 mg kg^-1) 〉 turf (29274.01 mg kg^-1) 〉 BFS (5000 mg kg^-1) 〉 vermiculite (3333.33 mg kg^-1) 〉 gravel (769.23 mg kg^-1) 〉 paddy soil (588.24 mg kg^-1) 〉 red soil (555.56 mg kg^-1) 〉 ceramsite (107.53 mg kg^-1). Some properties of the substrate materials, including bulk density, specific gravity, hydraulic conductivity, uniformity coefficient (K60), curvature coefficient (Co), organic matter, pH, exchangeable (or active) Cu, Fe, Zn and Mn, total Cu, and Fe, Mn, Zn, Cd, Pb and Ca, had negative correlations with NH+-N adsorption. Other properties of the substrate materials like particle diameter values of D10, 030 and 060 (the diameters of particle sizes of a substrate material at which 10%, 30% and 60%, respectively, of the particles pass through the sieve based on the accumulative frequency), cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable (or active) Ca and Mg, and total K and Mg had positive correlations with NH+-N adsorption. In addition, active K and Na as well as the total Na had significant positive correlations with NH+-N adsorption. This information would be useful for selection of suitable substrate materials for CWs.展开更多

The results revealed that milling method had an effect on properties of flour. Wet-milling process resulted in flour with significantly lower protein and ash contents and higher carbohydrate content. Wet-milled flour also tended to have lower lipid content and higher amylose content. In addition, wet-milled rice flour contained granules with smaller average size compared to dry-milled samples. Swelling power at 90℃ of wet-milled samples was higher while solubility was significantly lower than those of dry-milled flour. Dry milling process caused the destruction of the crystalline structure and yielded flour with lower crystallinity compared to wet-milling process, which resulted in significantly lower gelatinization enthalpy.展开更多
