METHODS: lOP was monitored with a rebound tonometer in C57bl/6 and DBA2J mice from 3 to 15-month-old. Retinal function was evaluated by dark -adapted electroretinogram (ERG) in DBA2J and WT mice of 15-month-old. A dye (Neurobiotin) was applied to optic nerve stump to retrograde label RGCs. TO-PRO-3 visualized all nuclei of cells in the RGC layer. RESULTS: The lOP in WT mice was 9.03-0.6 mm Hg on average and did not increase significantly as aging. The lOP in DBA2J mice, arranging from 7.2 to 28 mm Hg, was increasing significantly as aging, and it was normal at 3-month--old compared with WT mice, slightly increased from 7-month-old and increased in 50% animals at 11-month-old and in 38% animals at 15-month-old. The RGCs density in DBA2J mice started reducing by 7-month-old, continuously decreased until reached about 20% of RGC in WT retina by 15-month-old. RGC density was not linearly correlated with lOP in 15-month- old DBA2J mice. The amplitude of positive scotopic threshold response, and negative scotopic threshold response of ERG were significantly reduced in DBA2J mice of 15-month-old than that in age-paired WT mice. CONCLUSION: The present study found that DBA2J mice display pathological and functional deficits of the retina that was not linearly correlated with lOP.展开更多

METHODS: This is a retrospective study. Forty-two eyes of 26 patients with primary congenital glaucoma were enrolled, Intraocular pressure (lOP), corneal diameter (mm) and cup/disc (C/D) were measured before and after the surgery respectively. Follow-up period was 30mo. RESULTS: The mean preoperative lOP was 30.6:1:7.35 mm Hg. Of the 42 eyes, 2 eyes were required conversion to trabeculectomy for the absence of Schlemm's canal. Of remained 40 eyes, 38 eyes (95%) achieved successful lOP control. The average postoperative lOP was 11.69±4.18 mm Hg at 12mo. The mean reduction was 18.91 mm Hg (P〈0.00Ol). Eighteen (75%) eyes presented a reduction in corneal diameter, and 25 (62.5%) eyes presented a C/D ratio reversal after the surgery. There was no serious complication in any patients over the follow-up period. CONCLUSION: Viscocanalostomy combined with trabeculotomy and mitomycin C is useful in the management of primary congenital glaucoma,展开更多

Criteria of ISO 8612 were fulfilled: 3 clusters of IOP, measured by GAT, were formed. The GAT results were given as mean±standard deviation.RESULTS: GAT(19.7±0.5 mm Hg) showed a significant correlation to ICare(19.8±0.5 mm Hg)(r =0.547, P 〈0.001)and IOPen(19.5 ±0.5 mm Hg)(r =0.526, P 〈0.001).According to ISO 8612 criteria in all 3 IOP groups the number of outliers(of the 95% limits of agreement)exceeded 5% for ICare and IOPen vs GAT: No.1(n =68)29.4% and 22.1%, No.2(n =62) 35.5% and 37.1%, No.3(n =61) 26.2% and 42.6%, respectively.CONCLUSION: The strict requirements of the ISO 8612 are not fulfilled in a glaucoma collective by ICare and IOPen at present. As long as the Goldmann tonometry is applicable it should be used first of all for reproducible IOP readings. ICare and IOPen tonometry should be considered as an alternative tool, if application of Goldmann tonometry is not possible.展开更多
