Mother nature provides a large source of bioactive co... Cancer is generally regarded as the result of abnormal growth of cells. According to World Health Organization, cancer is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. Mother nature provides a large source of bioactive compounds with excellent therapeutic efficacy. Numerous phytochemicals from nature have been investigated for anticancer properties. In this review article, we discuss several natural compounds, which have shown anti-cancer activity. Natural compounds induce cell cycle arrest, activate intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis pathways, generate Reactive Oxygen Species(ROS), and down-regulate activated signaling pathways, resulting in inhibition of cell proliferation, progression and metastasis of cancer. Several preclinical studies have suggested that natural compounds can also increase the sensitivity of resistant cancers to available chemotherapy agents. Furthermore, combining FDA approved anti-cancer drugs with natural compounds results in improved efficacy. On the basis of these exciting outcomes of natural compounds against several cancer types, several agents have already advanced to clinical trials. In conclusion, preclinical results and clinical outcomes against cancer suggest promising anticancer efficacy of agents from natural sources. 展开更多

更年妇康汤加双吲哚甲脘治疗美国妇女更年期综合征49例浅析

目的:①观察中药更年妇康汤治疗美国妇女更年期综合征的临床疗效。②观察双吲哚甲烷提升尿液2/16a羟基雌酮比例的临床疗效。方法:将79例患者随机分为治疗组49例,其中经中医辨证肾虚肝旺型32例,肾阴阳俱虚型17例;对照组共35例,含肾虚肝旺... 目的:①观察中药更年妇康汤治疗美国妇女更年期综合征的临床疗效。②观察双吲哚甲烷提升尿液2/16a羟基雌酮比例的临床疗效。方法:将79例患者随机分为治疗组49例,其中经中医辨证肾虚肝旺型32例,肾阴阳俱虚型17例;对照组共35例,含肾虚肝旺型12例,肾阴阳俱虚型18例。治疗组口服中药更年妇宝丸,对照组口服洋草药黑升麻,西方牡荆和庭院鼠尾草方(简称麻荆尾方)。观察治疗组的临床疗效。另外,每位患者加服双吲哚甲脘,于服药前及90天后随机检查13例患者(肾虚肝旺型10例,肾阴阳俱虚型3例)尿液2/16a羟基雌酮代谢物的比例变化。结果:中医辨证肾虚肝旺型的治疗组和对照组的总有效率分别为93.7%和55.0%;肾阴阳俱虚型的治疗组和对照组总有效率分别为94.2%和50.0%,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.049与P<0.005)。这显示中药更年妇宝丸的疗效优于对照组。检查13例患者尿液2/16a羟基雌酮比例显示,用药前平均为1.75,用药后为1.81,此差异具统计学意义(P<0.025)。结论:中药更年妇康汤治疗更年期综合征中肾虚肝旺型和肾阴阳俱虚型有较好的临床疗效。双吲哚甲烷有优化雌激素代谢的作用。 展开更多

Cruciferous vegetables belong to the plant family that has flowers with four equal-sized petals in the pattern of a crucifer cross.These vegetables are an abundant source of dietary phytochemicals,including glucosinolates and their hydrolysis products such as indole-3-carbinol(I3C) and 3,3'-diindolylmethane(DIM).By 2013,the total number of natural glucosinolates that have been documented is estimated to be 132.Recently,cruciferous vegetable intake has garnered great interest for its multiple health benefits such as anticancer,antiviral infections,human sex hormone regulation,and its therapeutic and preventive effects on prostate cancer and high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia(HGPIN).DIM is a hydrolysis product of glucosinolates and has been used in various trials.This review is to provide an insight into the latest developments of DIM in treating or preventing both prostate cancer and HGPIN. 展开更多

目的探讨DIM对血管损伤后血管平滑肌细胞增殖的影响及其可能机制。方法制备兔血管再狭窄模型,21只兔随机分为假手术组、模型组和DIM组,观察各组颈总动脉形态学变化,采用免疫组织化学技术观察血管内膜C-myc的表达。结果假手术组动脉各层... 目的探讨DIM对血管损伤后血管平滑肌细胞增殖的影响及其可能机制。方法制备兔血管再狭窄模型,21只兔随机分为假手术组、模型组和DIM组,观察各组颈总动脉形态学变化,采用免疫组织化学技术观察血管内膜C-myc的表达。结果假手术组动脉各层结构正常;模型组动脉内膜层出现泡沫细胞,平滑肌细胞增殖,血管内膜明显增厚,C-myc表达明显增加;DIM组血管平滑肌细胞增殖程度降低;与假手术组比较,模型组C-myc表达显著增强(P<0.05),而DIM明显降低C-myc的表达(P<0.01)。结论 DIM通过下调C-myc基因的表达而抑制血管内膜增生,有利于血管再狭窄的防治。 展开更多
