Sichuan must size this golden opportunity to commence the readjustment in the following fields. As a big province of agriculture, Sichuan should first accelerate the restructure of agriculture, and improve the quality of farm products. Besides, the traditional department stores should undergo a deep- going reform and establish a diversified management structure, and open up new markets. As to the sectors of service and foreign trade, measures must be taken to further the opening to the outside world, support the export of domestic products and strengthen the competitiveness of the enterprises. More over, enterprises of real estate development should make joint efforts to cooperate, and speed to carry out i n t e r n a t i o n a l practice. Along with China’s entry into the WTO, medical industry in the province will also have an opportunity of progress. It has shown a world-wide tendency to use Chinese herbal medicine instead of medical medicine. About 60 per cent of the Chinese herbs are grown in Sichuan.
