Methods: This sectional and retrospective study was conducted in Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital ED between 1st March 2010 and 31st March 2017. Into the study, patients with MFT older than 15 years of age were included. Characteristics of patients were recorded. Patients’ characteristics were compared according to presence of fractures. Results: Mean age of the patients was 41.1 ± 18.0 years and a statistically significant relationship was determined between age and presence of fracture (p > 0.05). Of the patients, 74.5% was male and fracture presence was significantly more in males than females (p 0.05). Conclusion: The MFT is a pathology that either leads to its own, or can lead to life-threatening consequences as a result of additional organ injuries. The physician evaluating the patient should determine the MFT and additional pathologies and ensure that the interventions start as soon as possible.展开更多

The study area represents the southern edge of the central part of the NAOB.The aim o...Studies on differentiation of ensimatic arc units from melange units in the Northern Anatolian Ophiolitic Belt(NAOB) are very rare. The study area represents the southern edge of the central part of the NAOB.The aim of the study is to distinguish the main units of NAOB and to define the geotectonic setting of the Darmik Ensimatic Arc Association(DEAA). To study the ensimatic arc units as an independent tectonic unit is important and facilitates understanding of the geological evolution of the NAOB. During field studies, the contact relationships within the Darmik Ensimatic Arc Association(DEAA) units and also with other tectonic units were reviewed. Then, paleontological, geochronological, petrological and also geochemical properties of the DEAA have been defined. In the present study, ensimatic arc units have been distinguished from ophiolitic association for the first time, in the region. As a result of the study, the DEAA is divided into two levels and lower level named as the Kartal unit and upper level named as the izibüyük unit. In the Kartal unit, basaltic and andesitic lavas with their equivalent pyroclastic rock units are dominant. Radiolarite and mudstones interbedded within the Kartal unit of DEAA have Turonian and Santonian age. In addition, the age of basalt samples of DEAA are 98.7 ± 2.4 Ma, defined using the^(40)Ar/39 Ar method. The izibüyük unit of DEAA comprises conglomerate, sandstone, claystone, mudstone,clayey limestone, micritic limestone with volcanic interbeds and also calciturbidites. Santonian-Maastrichtian ages were obtained from this unit of the DEAA. In conclusion, the age of DEAA is widely accepted as Late Cretaceous. After the evaluation of the analysis, the volcanics of the DEAA originated from calcalkaline-basalts, which reflect ensimatic arc magmatism.展开更多
Landslide database construction is one of the most crucial stages of the landslide susceptibility mapping studies. Although there are many techniques for preparing landslide database in the literature, representative ...Landslide database construction is one of the most crucial stages of the landslide susceptibility mapping studies. Although there are many techniques for preparing landslide database in the literature, representative data selection from huge data sets is a challenging, and, to some extent, a subjective task. Thus, in order to produce reliable landslide susceptibility maps, data-driven, objective and representative database construction is a very important stage for these maps. This study mainly focuses on a landslide database construction task. In this study, it was aimed at building a representative landslide database extraction approach by using Chebyshev theorem to evaluate landslide susceptibility in a landslide prone area in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey. The study area was divided into two different parts such as training (Basin 1) and testing areas (Basin 2). A total of nine parameters such as topographical elevation, slope, aspect, planar and profile curvatures, stream power index, distance to drainage, normalized difference vegetation index and topographical wetness index were used in the study. Next, frequency distributions of the considered parameters in both landslide and nonlandslide areas were extracted using different sampling strategies, and a total of nine different landslide databases were obtained. Of these, eight databases were gathered by the methodology proposed by this study based on different standard deviations and algebraic multiplication of raster parameter maps. To evaluate landslide susceptibility, Artificial Neural Network method was used in the study area considering the different landslide and nonlandslide data. Finally, to assess the performances of the so-produced landslide susceptibility maps based on nine data sets, Area Under Curve (AUC) approach was implemented both in Basin 1 and Basin 2. In this study,firstly,3-bromopropanenitrile(2a),ethyl bromoacetate(2b),and 2-bromoethan-1-amine(2c)were added to 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole(1)and symmetrically-connected N-heterocyclic carbenes(NHC)[(3a-3c)]were synthe...In this study,firstly,3-bromopropanenitrile(2a),ethyl bromoacetate(2b),and 2-bromoethan-1-amine(2c)were added to 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole(1)and symmetrically-connected N-heterocyclic carbenes(NHC)[(3a-3c)]were synthesized.Then,the NHC precursor compounds were reacted with PdCl2 and Pd(Ⅱ)-NHC complexes[(4a—4c)]were obtained.The synthesized NHC precursors(3a-3c)and Pd(Ⅱ)-NHC complexes(4a—4c)were characterized by different spectroscopic methods.The antibacterial activities of these products were measured against bacteria and fungus with the disc diffusion method.Pd(Ⅱ)-NHC complexes had higher antibacterial activity than the NHC precursors.The synthesized compounds showed antimicrobial activity with different properties from each other.In vitro biological activities of salts and metal complexes on selected bacteria were determined by the broth dilution method based on Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines.1,3-Bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)imidazolinium bromide and 3-(2-ethoxy-2-oxoethyl)-1-(3-aminopropyl)-^(1)H-imidazole-3-ium bromide had activity against Escherichia coli.展开更多

However, the relationsh...Bacterial biofilms have been implicated with breast implant complications including capsular contracture, double-capsule formation, and breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma. However, the relationship between implant surface texture and microbial biofilm formation is insufficiently evaluated. In the present study, we examined the antimicrobial activities of different types of silicone breast implant. The growth of bacterial including <em>Staphylococcus aureus</em>, <em>Staphylococcus epidermidis</em>, and <em>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</em> was compared using implants with various surface textures, including Hans Smooth, Hans SmoothFine, Allergan Smooth, Eurosilicone Smooth, Eurosilicone Texture, Sebbin Smooth, Sebbin Micro, Sebbin Texture, and Motiva Smooth. Microbial investigation revealed the increased growth of <em>S. aureus</em> on breast implants after 48 h, except Eurosilicone Smooth, Eurosilicone Texture, Hans SmoothFine and Sebbin Smooth material. At 48 hours, there was no major difference between the <em>S. aureus</em> attachment on smooth and textured implants. The results of <em>S. epidermis</em> attachment on the implant after 48 h showed that their growth decreased on surfaces of Motiva Smooth, Sebbin Smooth, and Eurosilicone Smooth. These results indicated that <em>S. epidermis</em> was unable to survive on these breast implants. Eventually, <em>P. aeruginosa</em> count had showed decrease of bacterial count after 48 hours compared to 24 hours in most of the implants except for Eurosilicone Texture, Sebbin Smooth and Sebbin Micro, where the count of <em>P. aeruginosa</em> slightly increased. This indicated that <em>P. aeruginosa</em> was unable to exist on the smooth surfaces. Our results show that the in vitro assay revealed no significant difference between smooth and textured surfaces and showed variable interactions and needed further molecular analysis to assess their adherence nature.展开更多
Background:This study aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of transcutaneos tibial nerve stimulation(TTNS)in the treatment of bladder pain syndrome(BPS).Materials and methods:The data of 16 female patients,diagnosed...Background:This study aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of transcutaneos tibial nerve stimulation(TTNS)in the treatment of bladder pain syndrome(BPS).Materials and methods:The data of 16 female patients,diagnosed with BPS in our clinic between 2019 and 2021 and had TTNS twice a week for 12 weeks,were retrospectively analyzed.Results:The mean age of the patients was 46.00±13.11 years,and the mean body mass index was 26.43±3.07 kg/m^(2).After the treatment,the median day time frequency of the patients decreased from 13.37(3.69)to 10.25(4.56)(p<0.001).Nocturia also decreased after treatment from 4.37(1.81)to 3.00(1.94)(p=0.001).The median voiding volume increased by 26.5 mL(p=0.001).The median of the patients'visual analog scale scores decreased after treatment(median of visual analog scale score changed from interquartile range 8[1]to 7[4])(p=0.001).In addition,the median interquartile range interstitial cystitis symptom index scores decreased from 17(4)to 15(10)(p=0.002).Conclusions:In this study it was demonstrated that TTNS is an alternative method that can be successfully applied before invasive methods in the treatment of BPS.展开更多
A 10-year-old boy who had previously undergone surgery for tetralogy of Fallot, pulmonary atresia, and ventricular septal defect was admitted with difficulty in swallowing and significant failure to thrive. His histor...A 10-year-old boy who had previously undergone surgery for tetralogy of Fallot, pulmonary atresia, and ventricular septal defect was admitted with difficulty in swallowing and significant failure to thrive. His history included that he had 2 angiographically detected aberrant pulmonary arteries extending from the descending aorta to the right and left lungs, respectively. Both collaterals had been ligated during the corrective surgery; however, early postoperative evaluation revealed that the vessel that crossed behind the esophagus to the left lung had become recanalized. Coil embolization was performed to occlude this collateral. The patient had begun to develop swallowing difficulties 2 years after the embolization. Esophagography revealed a significant stricture in the middle of the esophagus, just anterior to the location of the coil in the vessel behind. The patient underwent a program of esophageal dilatation. This was successful, and he regained normal swallowing ability. To our knowledge, no similar case of esophageal stenosis has been reported in the English literature. We believe that inflammation surrounding the coiled aberrant artery, presumably caused by injury during the corrective surgery and resulting in hemorrhage, led to fibrosis around the vessel. This fibrosis also involved the adjacent esophageal wall, thus causing progressive stenosis.展开更多
An Al/SiO_(2)/p-Si(MOS)capacitor with a thick(826Å)interfacial oxide layer(SiO_(2))which is formed by using the thermal oxidation method is fabricated to investigate both frequency and applied bias voltage depend...An Al/SiO_(2)/p-Si(MOS)capacitor with a thick(826Å)interfacial oxide layer(SiO_(2))which is formed by using the thermal oxidation method is fabricated to investigate both frequency and applied bias voltage dependences of real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant(ϵ'andϵ")and electric modulus(M'and M"),loss tangent(tanδ)and ac electrical conductivity(σ_(ac))in a wide frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz at room temperature.The dielectric properties of the MOS capacitor are obtained using the forward and reverse bias capacitance-voltage(C–V)and conductance-voltage(G/ω–V)measurements in the applied bias voltage range 1.4–5.6 V.The values ofϵ',ϵ",tanδ,M',M"and σ_(ac) are found to be strong functions of frequency and applied bias voltage in the depletion region due to excess capacitance Cex and conductance G_(ex)/ω especially at low frequencies.The experimental results show that the interfacial polarization can occur at low frequencies more easily,consequently contributing to the dispersion inϵ',ϵ",tanδ,M',M"and σ_(ac) values of the MOS capacitor.The other reason for dispersion in the dielectric properties may be attributed to a particular density distribution of interface states(Nss)localized at the Si/SiO_(2) interface,as well as space charge carriers and inhomogeneity of interfacial oxide layer.The increase in conductivity with increasing frequency can be attributed to the hopping type conduction mechanism.It can be concluded that theϵ',ϵ",tanδ,M',M"and σ_(ac) values of the Al/SiO_(2)/p-Si(MOS)capacitor are strongly dependent on both the frequency and applied bias voltage especially in the depletion region.展开更多

Our study aimed to determine the genetic damage in patien...Behet’s disease (BD) is a chronic, multisystemic, inflammatory disorder characterized mainly by recurrent oral and genital aphthous ulcerations and uveitis. Our study aimed to determine the genetic damage in patients with BD. The micronucleus(MN) frequency was counted in peripheral lymphocytes and exfoliated cells of the patients with BD. MN analysis was performed in peripheral lymphocytes of 30 patients with BD and in 20 healthy controls by the cytokinesis-block method, and on uncultured cells of the oral cavity in 10 patients and 9 healthy controls. We found significantly higher MN rates in lymphocytes of the patients than the control subjects (P = 0.000). There were no significant differences between the patients with or without treatment (P=0.860). The MN frequency in exfoliated cells of the patients was higher than in those of healthy controls(P=0.013), and there was no significant difference between the exfoliated cells of the treated and untreated patients (P=0.201). Our results indicate that genetic damage may play a secondary but important part in the aetiology of BD and that treatment with colchicine does not induce MN.展开更多

Esophagography revealed a significant stricture in the middle of the esophagus, just anterior to the location of the coil in the vessel behind. The patient underwent a program of esophageal dilatation. This was successful, and he regained normal swallowing ability. To our knowledge, no similar case of esophageal stenosis has been reported in the English literature. We believe that inflammation surrounding the coiled aberrant artery, presumably caused by injury during the corrective surgery and resulting in hemorrhage, led to fibrosis around the vessel. This fibrosis also involved the adjacent esophageal wall, thus causing progressive stenosis.
文摘An Al/SiO_(2)/p-Si(MOS)capacitor with a thick(826Å)interfacial oxide layer(SiO_(2))which is formed by using the thermal oxidation method is fabricated to investigate both frequency and applied bias voltage dependences of real and imaginary parts of dielectric constant(ϵ'andϵ")and electric modulus(M'and M"),loss tangent(tanδ)and ac electrical conductivity(σ_(ac))in a wide frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz at room temperature.The dielectric properties of the MOS capacitor are obtained using the forward and reverse bias capacitance-voltage(C–V)and conductance-voltage(G/ω–V)measurements in the applied bias voltage range 1.4–5.6 V.The values ofϵ',ϵ",tanδ,M',M"and σ_(ac) are found to be strong functions of frequency and applied bias voltage in the depletion region due to excess capacitance Cex and conductance G_(ex)/ω especially at low frequencies.The experimental results show that the interfacial polarization can occur at low frequencies more easily,consequently contributing to the dispersion inϵ',ϵ",tanδ,M',M"and σ_(ac) values of the MOS capacitor.The other reason for dispersion in the dielectric properties may be attributed to a particular density distribution of interface states(Nss)localized at the Si/SiO_(2) interface,as well as space charge carriers and inhomogeneity of interfacial oxide layer.The increase in conductivity with increasing frequency can be attributed to the hopping type conduction mechanism.It can be concluded that theϵ',ϵ",tanδ,M',M"and σ_(ac) values of the Al/SiO_(2)/p-Si(MOS)capacitor are strongly dependent on both the frequency and applied bias voltage especially in the depletion region.
文摘Behet’s disease (BD) is a chronic, multisystemic, inflammatory disorder characterized mainly by recurrent oral and genital aphthous ulcerations and uveitis. Our study aimed to determine the genetic damage in patients with BD. The micronucleus(MN) frequency was counted in peripheral lymphocytes and exfoliated cells of the patients with BD. MN analysis was performed in peripheral lymphocytes of 30 patients with BD and in 20 healthy controls by the cytokinesis-block method, and on uncultured cells of the oral cavity in 10 patients and 9 healthy controls. We found significantly higher MN rates in lymphocytes of the patients than the control subjects (P = 0.000). There were no significant differences between the patients with or without treatment (P=0.860). The MN frequency in exfoliated cells of the patients was higher than in those of healthy controls(P=0.013), and there was no significant difference between the exfoliated cells of the treated and untreated patients (P=0.201). Our results indicate that genetic damage may play a secondary but important part in the aetiology of BD and that treatment with colchicine does not induce MN.
文摘Appendiceal intussusception and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma are both uncommon entities, and this is the first report of the two occurring concomitantly in an 8-year old boy. This report of a mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma localized in the appendix has not been reported previously.
