Method: We retrospectively selected 27 mosaic embryo transfer ...Purpose: We aimed to analyze the pregnancy outcomes and perinatal follow-up of mosaic embryo transfer in the preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) cycles. Method: We retrospectively selected 27 mosaic embryo transfer cycles as the study group and 97 euploid embryo transfer cycles as the control group after propensity score matching, which were performed in the reproductive medicine center of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, from March 2019 to September 2023. The biopsy cells from blastocyst were undertaken next generation sequencing (NGS). Results: No significant difference in pregnancy outcomes compared between the two groups. According to the size of aneuploid, fragment the level of mosaicism or blastocyst morphological gradings, there were no significant difference in mosaic embryo transfers. Conclusion: Mosaic embryo detected in the PGT cycle can lead to clinical pregnancy and live birth of healthy offspring, which can be considerate suitable for transfer.展开更多

However, the relationship between cortical thickness and i BA is unknown ...A thinner cortex has higher potential for binding GABA receptor A which is associated with larger amplitudes of intrinsic brain activity(i BA). However, the relationship between cortical thickness and i BA is unknown in intact and epileptic brains. To this end, we investigated the relationship between cortical thickness measured by highresolution MRI and surface-based i BA derived from resting-state functional MRI in normal controls(n = 82) andpatients with generalized tonic–clonic seizures(GTCS)only(n = 82). We demonstrated that the spatial distribution of cortical thickness negatively correlated with surface-based i BA amplitude at both whole-brain and within independent brain functional networks. In GTCS patients,spatial coupling between thickness and i BA amplitude decreased in the default mode, dorsal attention, and somatomotor networks. In addition, the vertex-wise acrosssubject thickness–i BA amplitude correspondence altered in the frontal and temporal lobes as well as in the precuneus in GTCS patients. The relationship between these two modalities can serve as a brain-based marker for detecting epileptogenic changes.展开更多
The thermodynamics of charged spherically symmetric AdS black holes in conformal gravity is revisited using the recently proposed restricted phase space(RPS) formalism.This formalism avoids all the bizarreness arising...The thermodynamics of charged spherically symmetric AdS black holes in conformal gravity is revisited using the recently proposed restricted phase space(RPS) formalism.This formalism avoids all the bizarreness arising in the extended phase space formalism for this model.It is found that the charged AdS black holes in this model may belong to a new universality class that is different from all previously studied cases under the RPS formalism.Besides the distinguished isocharge T-S and isothermal Φ-Q_(e) behaviors,the absence of the Hawking-Page transition is another notable feature.However,in the high temperature limit,the thermodynamic behavior of the present model becomes exactly the same as that of the Einstein gravity and black hole scan models,which adds further evidence for the universality of the recently reported correspondence between high temperature AdS black holes and low temperature quantum phonon gases in nonmetallic crystals.展开更多

Ever since the China Development and Reform Commission suspended the approval of crop processing programs, second-generati...Bio-fuel can be used to help transition from a petroleum-based society to a bio-based society. Ever since the China Development and Reform Commission suspended the approval of crop processing programs, second-generation bio-ethanol research and industrialization processes have attracted significant attention. In 2020, bio-ethanol production is predicted to reach 10 million tons. Currently, there are a few domestic enterprises that have established different scaled pilot or demonstration bases for cellulosic ethanol, which reduce the cost of ethanol by continuously improving pretreatment and hydrolysis techniques. In the next three years, these enterprises will realize large-scale commercial production. Given the practical problems in cellulosic ethanol plant construction and operation(e.g., marketing price variation and difficulties in feedstock collection), this paper began with the concept of a "whole-crop refinery" and presented a solution to the integration of industry and agriculture as well as multi-crop refining. This paper then took the whole-crop refining system of corn as an example and presented an analysis of the logistics, energy flow, and economical efficiency of the system. The results demonstrated that the integrated system could properly reduce the required fixed investments in production equipment,shared utilities, and wastewater treatment facilities, as well as reduction of energy consumption. Although the proposed system has several problems, it brings the long-term goal of large-scale commercial application closer than ever.展开更多

The motor can step on a microtubule with a velocity of about 1 ...Kinesin-1 motor protein is a homodimer containing two identical motor domains connected by a common long coiledcoil stalk via two flexible neck linkers. The motor can step on a microtubule with a velocity of about 1 μm·s-1and an attachment duration of about 1 s under physiological conditions. The available experimental data indicate a tradeoff between velocity and attachment duration under various experimental conditions, such as variation of the solution temperature,variation of the strain between the two motor domains, and so on. However, the underlying mechanism of the tradeoff is unknown. Here, the mechanism is explained by a theoretical study of the dynamics of the motor under various experimental conditions, reproducing quantitatively the available experimental data and providing additional predictions. How the various experimental conditions lead to different decreasing rates of attachment duration versus velocity is also explained.展开更多
