Based on the measured hydrological data from 1951 to 2008, the chain hydrological effect between Jingjiang River and Dongting Lake is analyzed by comparative method after the Three Gorges Project operation. The result indicates that 1) the scouring amount in Jing- jiang River made up 78.9% of the total from Yichang to Chenglingji, and its average scouring intensity was higher than the latter; 2) the water and sand diversion rates at the three outlets of the Jingjiang River were reduced by 2.33% and 2.78% separately; 3) the proportion of multi-year average runoff and sediment through the three outlets in the total into the Dongting Lake decreased by 7.7% and 24.4% respectively; 4) in Dongting Lake, the speed of sediment accumulation was lowered by 26.7%, in flood season, the runoff amount was 20.2% less than the multi-year average value, leading to seasonal scarcity of water year by year. The former prolonged the lake life, while the latter induced droughts in summer and fall in successive years, shortage of drinking and industrial water, shipping insecurity, as well as ecological problems such as decrease of birds and quick increase of Microtus fortis; 5) The multi-year average values of sediment and flood transporting capacity at the lake outlet were respec- tively increased by 26.6% and 3.7%, the adapt to the new change of the river-lake embankments were protected effectively. Then, to relation, some suggestions were put forward, such as optimizing further operation program of the Three Gorges Reservoir, reexamining the idea of river and lake regulation, and maintaining connection of the river and the lake. 展开更多

The study of the movement behavior of geckos on a vertical surface, including the measurement and recording of the reaction forces as they move in different directions, plays an important role in understanding the mechanics of the animals' locomotion. This study provides inspiration for the design of a control system for a bionics robot. The three-dimensional reaction forces of vertical surface-climbing geckos (Gekko gecko) were measured using a three-dimensional force-sensors-array. The behavior of gecko as it moved on a vertical surface was recorded with a high speed camera at 215 fps and the function of each foot of a gecko are discussed in this paper. The results showed that the gecko increased its velocity of movement mainly by increasing the stride frequency in the upward, downward and leftward direction and that the speed had no significant relationship to the attachment and detachment times. The feet above the center-of-mass play a key role in supporting the body, driving locomotion and balancing overturning etc. The movement behavior and foot function of geckos change correspondingly for different conditions, which results in safe and effective free vertical locomotion. This research will be helpful in designing gecko-like robots including the selection of gait planning and its control. 展开更多

Phospholipase Dα1 (PLDα1) has been shown to mediate the abscisic acid regulation of stomatal movements. Arabidopsis plants deficient in PLDα1 increased, whereas PLDα1-overexpressing tobacco decreased, transpirational water loss. In the early stage of drought, the decrease in water loss was associated with a rapid stomatal closure caused by a high level of PLD in PLDα1-overexpressing plants. However, in the late stage of drought, the overexpressing plants displayed more susceptibility to drought than control plants. PLDα1 activity in the overexpressing plants was much higher than that of control plants in which drought also induced an increase in PLDα1 activity. The high level of PLDα1 activity was correlated to membrane degradation in late stages of drought, as demonstrated by ionic leakage and lipid peroxidation. These findings indicate that a high level of PLDα1 expression has different effects on plant response to water deficits. It promotes stomatal closure at earlier stages, but disrupts membranes in prolonged drought stress. These findings are discussed in relation to the understanding of PLD functions and potential applications. 展开更多

Background Awareness under general anesthesia is a serious complication which leads to psychiatric disorders. The incidence of awareness in patients undergoing cardiac surgery has been reported in as many as 1.5%-23% in foreign countries. But so far, medical literature about awareness during cardiac surgery is still rare in China. Therefore, we investigated the incidence of awareness in patients undergoing different kinds of cardiac surgery, the phases when awareness occured and the effect of cardiopulmonary bypass on the incidence of awareness in coronary artery bypass grafting in Beijing.Methods Patients' recall of awareness during cardiac surgery was assessed. One hundred patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in Chaoyang Hospital, Beijing, one hundred patients undergoing CABG and one hundred patients undergoing valve replacement or septal defect repair in Fuwai Hospital, Beijing, were interviewed 3-6 days after surgery. Every report obout patients on recall of awareness was recorded. An independent research team, blinded to patients' surgery and anesthesia, assessed every report of awareness.Results The incidence of awareness of patients received CABG under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), off -pump CABG, septal repair or valve replacement under CPB was 4.7% (5 of 106 cases), 9.6% (9 of 94 cases) and 4% (4 of 100 cases), respectively. CPB did not greatly affect the incidence of awareness during the period of CABG (P>0.05). The incidence of awareness of patients who received CABG under CPB did not increase significantly, in comparison with that of patients who received septal repair or valve replacement under CPB in Fuwai Hospital (P>0.05). Awareness easily occurred before bypass grafting or CPB.Conclusions Awareness mainly occurs before bypass grafting or CPB in cardiac surgery. Most cases with awareness have auditory perceptions. CPB is not a main factor which affects the incidence of awareness of CABG. Surgical types do not affect the incidence of awareness of patients under CPB. 展开更多

Photothermal CO_(2)reduction with H2O,integrating advantages of photocatalysis driven H2O splitting and thermal catalysis promoted CO_(2)reduction,has drawn sharply increasing attention in artificial synthesis of solar fuels.The photothermal effect of metal nanoparticles facilities CO_(2)hydrogenation and activation of lattice oxygen in oxide photocatalyst promotes H2O oxidation,which is essentially considered for highly efficient photothermal catalysis.However,the large thermal conductivity of most metal nanoparticles induces inevitable heat dissipation,restricting the increase of catalyst temperature.In this work,to minimize the heat dissipation,we employ bismuth nanoparticles as photothermal unit,which is of the lowest thermal conductivity in the metal family.Meanwhile,we adopt bismuth doped NaTaO_(3)as photocatalytic unit because of the bismuth doping induced activation of lattice oxygen.The bismuth nanoparticles are assembled with bismuth doped NaTaO_(3)through one-step tunable transformation from Bi4TaO8Cl.Benefiting from the photothermal effect,thermal insulation caused by bismuth metal,and lattice oxygen activation by bismuth doping,the NaTaO_(3):Bi hybrid exhibits high photothermal catalytic performance.The yield of CO over NaTaO_(3):Bi hybrid at 413 K via photothermal catalysis is 141 times higher than that room temperature photocatalysis.Further,ultraviolet(UV)light irradiation leads to 89.2%selectivity of CO and visible light irradiation leads to 97.5%selectivity of CH4.This work may broaden the photocatalytic application of ABO_(3)perovskite and provides a novel strategy for the development of photothermal catalysts for artificial photosynthesis. 展开更多

Invariant natural killer T(iNKT)cells are part of the family of unconventional T cells,and they recognize glycolipid antigens presented on the MHC class I like molecule CD1^([1]).In humans there are five CD1 molecules named CD1a to CD1e,whereas mice use only CD1d for lipid presentation.Functionally,iNKT cells can elicit both cytotoxicity similarly to conventional CD8 T cells and secrete cytokines that influence the adaptive immune response including providing direct T cell help to B cells^([2]).In the context of tumors,they can use both release of granzyme B and use Fas-mediated mechanisms for killing of tumor cells.As iNKT cells use a restricted TCR repertoire and CD1 molecules are non-heterogenous the risk of graft vs host disease is limited and thus these T cells have been an attractive option for off the shelf immunotherapy to treat cancer^([3]). 展开更多

Cymbidium goeringii is an economically important ornamental plant,and flower color is one of the main features of C.goeringii that contributes to its high economic value.To clarify the molecular mechanisms underlying the role of anthocyanins in mediating differences in color among varieties,liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry was used to perform anthocyanin-targeted metabolomics of seven C.goeringii varieties,including‘Jin Qian Yuan’(JQY),‘Jin Xiu Qian Yuan’(JXQY),‘Miao Jiang Su Die’(MJSD),‘Qian Ming Su’(QMS),‘Shi Chan’(SC),and‘Yang Ming Su’(YMS),as well as the C.goeringii.We detected 64 anthocyanins,including cyanidins,delphinidins,malvidins,pelargonidins,peonidins,petunidins,procyanidins,and flavonoids.We identified six shared differentially accumulated metabolites(DAMs),including cyanidin-3-O-rutinoside,delphinidin-3-Osophoroside,pelargonidin-3-O-rutinoside,peonidin-3-O-(6-O-malonyl-beta-D-glucoside),peonidin-3-Osophoroside,and chalcone.Most DAMs were enriched in the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway.Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis revealed that the differentially expressed metabolites were significantly enriched in the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway.Analysis of the content of differentially expressed metabolites indicated that peonidin-3-O-(6-O-malonyl-beta-D-glucoside)was the key metabolite underlying color differences among C.goeringii varieties.Procyanidin B2,pelargonidin-3-O-galactoside,and naringenin might also affect the color formation of JQY and QMS,SC,and MJSD,respectively.The results of this study shed light on the metabolic mechanism underlying flower color differences in C.goeringii at the molecular level.Our findings will aid future studies of the mechanism of flower color regulation in C.goeringii and have implications for the breeding of new varieties. 展开更多

Objective:To observe changes in the molecular expression of the NLR Family Pyrin Domain Containing Protein 3(NLRP3)pathway in depressed rats after treatment with Xiaoyaosan,and identify the regulatory mechanism of this compound.Methods:Male SpragueeD awley rats were randomly divided into five groups with 12 rats in each group,including the control group,model group,Fluoxetine group,Xiaoyaosan group,and MCC950 group.A depression model was generated by chronic immobilization stress(induced by 3 h of restraint immobilization every day),and the drugs were administered at the same time in each group for 21 days.The effects of Xiaoyaosan on behavioral changes of depressed rats were observed through macroscopic characterization,body mass,open field experiments,and a sucrose preference test.The m RNA and protein expression of the NLRP3 signaling pathway was examined by fluorescence real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot assays.Results:The Xiaoyaosan group,Fluoxetine group,and MCC950 group rats showed improved depressive behavior and an increased weight of sucrose water consumption.The protein and mRNA expression levels of NLRP3,Caspase-1,and IL-1 b were also decreased in the Fluoxetine,Xiaoyaosan,and MCC950 groups.Conclusion:NLRP3,Caspase-1,and IL-1 b protein and mRNA expression levels were increased in the cortex of depressed rats,while Xiaoyaosan protected cortical tissue in these rats by decreasing NLRP3,Caspase-1,and IL-1 b protein and mRNA expression. 展开更多

High-performance ferroelectric materials are widely used in various electronic devices owing to the function of mutual conversion among different energies,which mainly relates to their special structure gene of polarization configuration.Recent researches show that the high-entropy strategy has emerged as an effective and flexible approach for boosting physical properties in high-entropy ferroelectrics via the delicate design of local polarization configurations and other intrinsic effects caused by entropy increment,such as entropy stabilization,lattice disorder,inhibition of grain coarsening,improved mechanical properties,cocktail effect,and so on.In this review,the recent research progress about high-entropy ferroelectrics has been summarized,especially for the directional design of novel local polarization configurations according to the characteristics of different electrical properties such as high piezoelectricity,high-efficiency energy storage,and large electrostriction,providing a guidance for designing and exploring more novel local polarization configurations in high-entropy ferroelectrics for generating higher performance. 展开更多

Phosphorus is a major nutrient vital for plant growth and development,with a substantial amount of cellular phosphorus being used for the biosynthesis of membrane phospholipids.Here,we report that NON-SPECIFIC PHOSPHOLIPASE C4(NPC4)in rapeseed(Brassica napus)releases phosphate from phospholipids to promote growth and seed yield,as plants with altered NPC4 levels showed significant changes in seed production under different phosphate conditions.Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated nuclease 9(Cas9)-mediated knockout of Bna NPC4 led to elevated accumulation of phospholipids and decreased growth,whereas overexpression(OE)of Bna NPC4resulted in lower phospholipid contents and increased plant growth and seed production.We demonstrate that Bna NPC4 hydrolyzes phosphosphingolipids and phosphoglycerolipids in vitro,and plants with altered Bna NPC4 function displayed changes in their sphingolipid and glycerolipid contents in roots,with a greater change in glycerolipids than sphingolipids in leaves,particularly under phosphate deficiency conditions.In addition,Bna NPC4-OE plants led to the upregulation of genes involved in lipid metabolism,phosphate release,and phosphate transport and an increase in free inorganic phosphate in leaves.These results indicate that Bna NPC4 hydrolyzes phosphosphingolipids and phosphoglycerolipids in rapeseed to enhance phosphate release from membrane phospholipids and promote growth and seed production. 展开更多

Due to profound impact on climate and human health,air quality has attracted attention from all levels of the civil society.The key step in the provision of required tools for the society to tackle the complex air quality problem is to characterize it in a comprehensive manner with a long-term perspective.Here,we describe a continuous and comprehensive observation station and its accompanying state-ofthe-art instrumentation that was established to investigate the complex urban atmospheric environment in a rapidly developing Chinese Megacity.The station,located in downtown Beijing,aims to study air quality by identifying the major atmospheric pollutants and key processes determining their formation and loss mechanisms.A few hundreds of parameters are continuously measured with the state-of-the-art instruments,including trace gas concentrations,aerosol particle size distributions,and mass concentrations,covering aerosol particle chemical composition from molecules to micrometer-sized aerosol particles.This produced long-term,comprehensive big data with around 1�10^(11)bytes per year.In this paper,we provide an overview on the facilities of the station,the instrumentation used,the workflow of continuous observations and examples of results from 2018 to 2019 and a basis for establishing a modern long-term,comprehensive atmospheric urban observation station in other megacities. 展开更多

The physical mechanism of the dynamics in laser–material interaction has been an important research area.In addition to theoretical analysis,direct imaging‐based observation of ultrafast dynamic processes is an important approach to understand many fundamental issues in laser–material interaction such as inertial confinement fusion(ICF),laser accelerator construction,and advanced laser production.In this review,the principles and applications of three types of commonly used ultrafast imaging methods are introduced,including the pump–probe,X‐ray diagnosis,and single‐shot optical burst imaging.We focus on the technical features such as the spatial and temporal resolution for each technique,and present several conventional applications. 展开更多

Background Significant efforts have been made to identify factors that differentiate patients treated with novel therapies,such as bortezomib in multiple myeloma (MM).The exact expression pattern and prognostic value of the cancer/testis antigen preferentially expressed antigen of melanoma (PRAME) in MM are unknown and were explored in this study.Methods The transcript level of PRAME was detected in bone marrow specimens from 100 newly diagnosed MM patients using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction,and the prognostic value of PRAME was determined through retrospective survival analysis.PRAME expression higher than the upper limit of normal bone marrow was defined as PRAME overexpression or PRAME (+).Results Sixty-two patients (62.0%) overexpressed PRAME.PRAME overexpression showed no prognostic significance to either overall survival (n=100) or progression-free survival (PFS,n=96,all P >0.05) of patients.The patients were also categorized according to regimens with or without bortezomib.PRAME overexpression tended to be associated with a lower two-year PFS rate in patients treated with non-bortezomib-containing regimens (53.5% vs.76.9%,P=0.071).By contrast,it was not associated with the two-year PFS rate in patients with bortezomib-containing regimens (77.5% vs.63.9%,P >0.05).When the patients were categorized into PRAME (+) and PRAME (-) groups,treatment with bortezomib-containing regimens predicted a higher two-year PFS rate in PRAME (+) patients (77.5% vs.53.5%,P=0.027) but showed no significant effect on two-year PFS rate in PRAME (-) patients (63.9% vs.76.9%,P >0.05).Conclusion PRAME overexpression might be an adverse prognostic factor of PFS in MM patients treated with non-bortezomib-containing regimens.Bortezomib improves PFS in patients overexpressing PRAME. 展开更多

Effective resource allocation can exploit the advantage of intelligent reflective surface(IRS)assisted mobile edge computing(MEC)fully.However,it is challenging to balance the limited energy of MTs and the strict delay requirement of their tasks.In this paper,in order to tackle the challenge,we jointly optimize the offloading delay and energy consumption of mobile terminals(MTs)to realize the delay-energy tradeoff in an IRS-assisted MEC network,in which non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA)and multiantenna are applied to improve spectral efficiency.To achieve the optimal delay-energy tradeoff,an offloading cost minimization model is proposed,in which the edge computing resource allocation,signal detecting vector,uplink transmission power,and IRS phase shift coefficient are needed to be jointly optimized.The optimization of the model is a multi-level fractional problem in complex fields with some coupled high dimension variables.To solve the intractable problem,we decouple the original problem into a computing subproblem and a wireless transmission subproblem based on the uncoupled relationship between different variable types.The computing subproblem is proved convex and the closed-form solution is obtained for the edge computing resource allocation.Further,the wireless transmission subproblem is solved iteratively through decoupling the residual variables.In each iteration,the closed-form solution of residual variables is obtained through different successive convex approximation(SCA)methods.We verify the proposed algorithm can converge to an optimum with polynomial complexity.Simulation results indicate the proposed method achieves average saved costs of 65.64%,11.24%,and 9.49%over three benchmark methods respectively. 展开更多

Piezoelectric ceramics with high mechanical quality factor Q_(m) and large piezoelectric coefficient d_(33) are urgently required for advanced piezoelectric applications.However,obtaining both of these prop-erties simultaneously remains a difficult challenge due to their mutually restrictive relationship.Here 0.5Pb(Ni_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-0.5Pb(Zr_(0.3)Ti_(0.7))O_(3) piezoceramic with tetragonal(T)-rich MPB is designed as a matrix to construct the defect engineering by doping low-valent Mn ions.The strong coupling of defect dipole and T-rich phase can effectively hinder the rotation of P_(s),restrict domain wall motion and improve Q_(m).At the same time,the substituted Mn ions will introduce local random field,destroying the long-range or-dering of ferroelectric domain and reducing domain size.The miniaturized domain structure can increase poling efficiency and inhibit the reduction of d_(33).Guided by this strategy,Q_(m) has increased by more than 10 times and d_(33) has only decreased by about 25%.The optimized electromechanical performance with Q_(m)=822,d_(33)=502 pC/N,k_(p)=0.55 and tanδ=0.0069 can be obtained in the present study. 展开更多
