AIM: To determine the expression of c-fos in gastric myenteric plexus and spinal cord of rats with cervical spondylosis and its clinical significance. METHODS: A cervical spondylosis model was established in rats by destroying the stability of cervical posterior column,and the cord segments C4-6 and gastric antrum were collected 3, 4 and 5 mo after the operation. Rats with sham operation were used as controls. c-fos neuronal counter-staining was performed with an immunohistochemistry method. Every third sections from C4-6 segments were drawn. The 10 most labeled c-fos-immunoreactive (Fos-IR) neurons were counted, and the average number was used for statistical analysis. The mean of Fos-IR neurons in myenteric plexus was calculated after counting Fos-IR neurons in 25 ganglia from each antral preparation, and expressed as a mean count per myenteric ganglion.RESULTS: There were a few c-fos-positive neurons in the cervical cord and antrum in the control group. There was an increased c-fos expression in model group 3, 4 and 5 mo after operation, whereas there was no significant increase in c-fos expression in the control group at 3, 4 and 5 mo.More importantly, there was a significant difference in c-fos expression between rats followed up for 3 mo and those for 5 mo in the model group (11.20±2.26 vs 27.68±4.36,P<0.05, for the cervical cord; and 11.3±2.3 vs 29.3±4.6,P<0.05, for the gastric antrum). There was no significant difference between rats followed up for 3 mo and those for 4 mo and between rats followed up for 4 mo and those for 5 mo in the model group.CONCLUSION: c-fos expression in gastric myenteric plexus was dramatically associated with that in the spinal cord in rats with cervical spondylosis, suggesting that the gastrointestinal function may be affected by cervical spondylosis. If this hypothesis is confirmed by further studies, functional gastrointestinal diseases such as functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome could be explained by neurogastroenterology. 展开更多

In the present study, we aimed to investigate the effects of Xiao-Xu-Ming decoction extract(XXM) on lipopolysaccaride(LPS)-induced neuroinflammation in vitro and in vivo. In vitro, the microglia BV2 cells were treated with 200 ng/mL LPS for 24 h to induce inflammatory responses. In vivo, mice were treated with 5 mg/kg LPS to induce inflammatory responses. The NO level was determined by Griess Reagents. The levels of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and MCP-1 were determined by ELISA. The expressions of Iba-1, TLR4 and MyD88 at the protein levels were determined by Western blotting analysis. The mRNA levels of TLR4 and MyD88 were determined by real-time PCR. In vitro, XXM significantly reduced the levels of various pro-inflammatory factors, including NO, IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α, induced by LPS in the supernatant of BV2 cells and suppressed expressions of inflammatory proteins TLR4 and MyD88 induced by LPS in BV2 cells. In vivo, XXM significantly inhibited microglia activation, attenuated LPS-induced inflammatory factors and chemokine production, such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and MCP-1, and inhibited the expressions of inflammatory proteins including TLR4 and MyD88, in the cortex of LPS-induced mice. Our findings suggested that XXM could attenuate LPS-induced neuroinflammation via down-regulating TLR4/MyD88 signaling pathway. 展开更多

Objective: To compare the survival outcomes of transabdominal (TA) and transthoracic (TT) surgical approaches in patients with Siewert-II/III esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma. Methods: This retrospective ... Objective: To compare the survival outcomes of transabdominal (TA) and transthoracic (TT) surgical approaches in patients with Siewert-II/III esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in patients with Siewert-II/III esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma who underwent either TT or TA operations in the West China Hospital between January 2006 and December 2009. Results: A total of 308 patients (109 in the TT and 199 in the TA groups) were included in this study with a follow-up rate of 87.3%. The median (P25, P75) number of harvested perigastric lymph nodes was 8 (5, 10) in the TT group and 23 (16, 34) in the TA group (P〈0.001), and the number of positive perigastric lymph nodes was 2 (0, 5) in the TT group and 3 (1, 8) in the TA group (P〈0.004). The 5-year overall survival (OS) rate was 36% in the TT group and 51% in the TA group (P=0.005). Subgroup analysis by Siewert classification showed that 5-year OS rates for patients with Siewert II tumors were 38% and 48% in TT and TA groups, respectively (P=0.134), whereas the 5-year OS rate for patients with Siewert III tumors was significantly lower in the TT group than that in the TA group (33% vs. 53%; P=0.010). Multivariate analysis indicated that N2 and N3 stages, RI/R2 resection and a TT surgical approach were prognostic factors for poor OS. Conclusions: Improved perigastric lymph node dissection may be the main reason for better survival outcomes observed with a TA gastrectomy approach than with TT gastrectomy for Siewert III tumor patients. 展开更多

Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs), as the first choice for green batteries, have been widely used in energy storage, electric vehicles, 3C devices, and other related fields, and will have greater application prospects in the future. However, one of the obstacles hindering the future development of battery technology is how to accurately evaluate and monitor battery health, which affects the entire lifespan of battery use. It is not enough to assess battery health comprehensively through the state of health(SoH) alone, especially when nonlinear aging occurs in onboard applications. Here, for the first time, we propose a brand-new health evaluation indicator—state of nonlinear aging(SoNA) to explain the nonlinear aging phenomenon that occurs during the battery use, and also design a knee-point identification method and two SoNA quantitative methods. We apply our health evaluation indicator to build a complete LIB full-lifespan grading evaluation system and a ground-to-cloud service framework, which integrates multi-scenario data collection, multi-dimensional data-based grading evaluation, and cloud management functions. Our works fill the gap in the LIBs’ health evaluation of nonlinear aging, which is of great significance for the health and safety evaluation of LIBs in the field of echelon utilization such as vehicles and energy storage. In addition, this comprehensive evaluation system and service framework are expected to be extended to other battery material systems other than LIBs, yet guiding the design of new energy ecosystem. 展开更多

In this paper, an improved Fast-R-CNN nuclear power cold source disaster biological image recognition algorithm is proposed to improve the safety operation of nuclear power plants. Firstly, the image data sets of the disaster-causing creatures hairy shrimp and jellyfish were established. Then, in order to solve the problems of low recognition accuracy and unrecognizable small entities in disaster biometrics, Gamma correction algorithm was used to optimize the image of the data set, improve the image quality and reduce the noise interference. Transposed convolution is introduced into the convolution layer to increase the recognition accuracy of small targets. The experimental results show that the recognition rate of this algorithm is 6.75%, 7.5%, 9.8% and 9.03% higher than that of ResNet-50, MobileNetv1, GoogleNet and VGG16, respectively. The actual test results show that the accuracy of this algorithm is obviously better than other algorithms, and the recognition efficiency is higher, which basically meets the preset requirements of this paper. 展开更多

Air leakage in underground coal mines presents a serious hazard for coal production and the safety of miners.Coating technology is commonly used as an efficient means for preventing air leakage.To address existing problems with high dust concentrations in large operations involving complex processes and the high cost of traditional coating technology,a novel coating technology that ensures intrinsic safety by utilizing water pressure and wind pressure was developed.This new coating technology was designed to suction and spray,and the technical parameters of its spray performance was also studied.The experimental tests and evaluation indicated the optimum working range is 0.3–0.7 MPa of wind pressure,1.2–10.2 L/min of water quantity,and 1.0–3.5 m of spraying distance.Moreover,this novel coating technology was tested in the Dashuitou Coal Mine in Gansu Province of China.Compared with conventional counterparts,the proposed new technology is safe,efficient,and convenient to operate.During spraying,dust concentrations were kept at less than 10 mg/m3,and the average rebound ratio resilient rate of solid materials was below 13%.After spraying,the average leakage every 100 m was 4 m3/min,and the oxygen volume fraction in the adjacent goaf was approximately 4%,demonstrating excellent air leakage prevention. 展开更多

ZnCdS quantum dots(QDs)are highly coveted in photocatalysis research for their exceptional visible-light responses and high light-absorption coefficients.However,their practical application is hindered by their tendency to aggregate,due to having high surface energies.To address this issue,herein,a heterostructure is synthesized by growing ZnCdS QDs with a size of approximately 5 nm onto the surface of a two-dimensional(2D)covalent organic framework(COF),TpPa-1-COF.This approach suppresses the aggregation of the QDs and improves their stability.The ZnCdS/TpPa-1-COF composite exhibited a peak hydrogen evolution rate of 6244.16μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1),which was 2.89 and 4.18 times greater than that of ZnCdS and TpPa-1-COF,respectively.The zero-dimensional/two-dimensional(0D/2D)heterojunction formed by ZnCdS and TpPa-1-COF generates a strong interfacial force,which is attributed to the intimate contact between the interfaces.Tight connections accelerate charge separation,improve the utilisation of reduced electrons,and reduce the extent of agglomeration of the ZnCdS QDs,thereby resulting in high hydrogen production activity of the composites.Meanwhile,the photocatalytic mechanism is studied using Kelvin probe force microscopy and theoretical calculations.This study offers a novel approach for creating sulfide photocatalysts and is crucial for investigating the potential practical applications of the related photocatalysts. 展开更多

Applications of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries are still limited by the sluggish conversion kinetics from polysulfide to Li_(2)S.Although various single-atom catalysts are available for improving the conversion kinetics,the sulfur redox kinetics for Li-S batteries is still not ultrafast.Herein,in this work,a catalyst with dual-single-atom Pt-Co embedded in N-doped carbon nanotubes(Pt&Co@NCNT)was proposed by the atomic layer deposition method to suppress the shuttle effect and synergistically improve the interconversion kinetics from polysulfides to Li_(2)S.The X-ray absorption near edge curves indicated the reversible conversion of Li_(2)Sx on the S/Pt&Co@NCNT electrode.Meanwhile,density functional theory demonstrated that the Pt&Co@NCNT promoted the free energy of the phase transition of sulfur species and reduced the oxidative decomposition energy of Li_(2)S.As a result,the batteries assembled with S/Pt&Co@NCNT electrodes exhibited a high capacity retention of 80%at 100 cycles at a current density of 1.3 mA cm^(−2)(S loading:2.5 mg cm^(−2)).More importantly,an excellent rate performance was achieved with a high capacity of 822.1 mAh g^(−1) at a high current density of 12.7 mA cm^(−2).This work opens a new direction to boost the sulfur redox kinetics for ultrafast Li-S batteries. 展开更多

In this paper, artificial intelligence image recognition technology is used to improve the recognition rate of individual domestic fish and reduce the recognition time, aiming at the problem that it is difficult to easily observe the species and growth of domestic fish in the underwater non-uniform light field environment. First, starting from the image data collected by polarizing imaging technology, this paper uses subpixel convolution reconstruction to enhance the image, uses image translation and fill technology to build the family fish database, builds the Adam-Dropout-CNN (A-D-CNN) network model, and its convolution kernel size is 3 × 3. The maximum pooling was used for downsampling, and the discarding operation was added after the full connection layer to avoid the phenomenon of network overfitting. The adaptive motion estimation algorithm was used to solve the gradient sparse problem. The experiment shows that the recognition rate of A-D-CNN is 96.97% when the model is trained under the domestic fish image database, which solves the problem of low recognition rate and slow recognition speed of domestic fish in non-uniform light field. 展开更多

Although taste is an important aspect of fruit quality, an understanding of its genetic control remains elusive in apple and other fruit crops. In this study, we conducted genomic sequence analysis of 497 Malus accessions and revealed erosion of genetic diversity caused by apple breeding and possible independent domestication events of dessert and cider apples. Signatures of selection for fruit acidity and size, but not for fruit sugar content, were detected during the processes of both domestication and improvement. Furthermore, we found that single mutations in major genes affecting fruit taste, including Ma1, MdTDT, and MdSOT2, dramatically decrease malate, citrate, and sorbitol accumulation, respectively, and correspond to important domestication events. Interestingly, Ma1 was identified to have pleiotropic effects on both organic acid content and sugar:acid ratio, suggesting that it plays a vital role in determining fruit taste. Fruit taste is unlikely to have been negatively affected by linkage drag associated with selection for larger fruit that resulted from the pyramiding of multiple genes with minor effects on fruit size. Collectively, our study provides new insights into the genetic basis of fruit quality and its evolutionary roadmap during apple domestication, pinpointing several candidate genes for genetic manipulation of fruit taste in apple. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Xuefuzhuyu decoction for hyperlipidemia.METHODS:Randomized clinical trials on hyperlipidemia treated by Xuefuzhuyu decoction,either alone or with Western Medicine,were searched in electronic databases.Databases searched were:MEDLINE,Allied and Complementary Medicine Database,EMBASE,The Cochrane Library 2013(Issue4),China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,and Wanfang Database up to 2 May,2013.Study selection,data extraction,quality assessment,and data analysis were conducted according to the Cochranestandards.RESULTS:Six randomized clinical trials involving748 patients(373 patients in the treatment group,375 patients in the control group)were included in the analysis.The studies were of low methodological quality.Meta-analysis indicated that the effect of Xuefuzhuyu decoction on hyperlipidemia was better than that in the control group[n=748,OR=5.07,95%CI(3.40,7.58),P<0.01].Weighted mean differencesin total cholesterol,low-densitylipoprotein cholesterol,triglycerides,and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol were﹣0.79,﹣0.74,﹣0.44,0.16,respectively,and Meta-analysis revealed that the treatment group was better than the control group with 95%CI(﹣1.21,﹣0.36),(﹣0.94,﹣0.55),(﹣0.77,﹣0.11),(0.04,0.27),respectively(all P<0.05).Some adverse events in evaluated studies wererecorded.CONCLUSION:Xuefuzhuyu decoction may be effective for treating hyperlipidemia.The studies we analyzed were of low methodological quality,which indicates that the above findings should be considered cautiously.Therefore,more strictly designed large-scale randomized clinical trials are needed to evaluate the efficacy of Xuefuzhuyu decoction in hyperlipidemia. 展开更多

The safety and durability of lithium-ion batteries under mechanical constraints depend significantly on electrochemical,thermal,and mechanical fields in applications.Characterizing and quantifying the multi-field coupling behaviors requires interdisciplinary efforts.Here,we design experiments under mechanical constraints and introduce an in-situ analytical framework to clarify the complex interaction mechanisms and coupling degrees among multi-physics fields.The proposed analytical framework integrates the parameterization of equivalent models,in-situ mechanical analysis,and quantitative assessment of coupling behavior.The results indicate that the significant impact of pressure on impedance at low temperatures results from the diffusion-controlled step,enhancing kinetics when external pressure,like 180 to 240 k Pa at 10℃,is applied.The diversity in control steps for the electrochemical reaction accounts for the varying impact of pressure on battery performance across different temperatures.The thermal expansion rate suggests that the swelling force varies by less than 1.60%per unit of elevated temperature during the lithiation process.By introducing a composite metric,we quantify the coupling correlation and intensity between characteristic parameters and physical fields,uncovering the highest coupling degree in electrochemical-thermal fields.These results underscore the potential of analytical approaches in revealing the mechanisms of interaction among multi-fields,with the goal of enhancing battery performance and advancing battery management. 展开更多

Recent research on photothermal therapy(PTT) has sparked significant interest in the development of new organic photothermal agents(PTAs),ranging from single-molecule to aggregated levels.However,controlling aggregation pathways for PTAs with ultrahigh photothermal conversion efficiency(PCE) remains a major challenge.Herein,a two-pronged approach utilizing “Haggregation” and “intramolecular motion” was employed to enhance the PCE of an acceptor-substituted squaraine dye(NSQs).The C2vmolecular symmetry of the NSQs,which possess a ground state dipole moment(μg),promotes H-dimeric aggregates through dipole-dipole counteraction.Peripheral triphenylethylene or diphenylamine groups were added to this H-dimeric nanoplatform.This was done to enhance intramolecular motions for heat generation and also to extend conjugation,which redshifted the optical absorption and balanced the blue-shift induced by H-aggregation.With this technique,an organic PTA with NIR-II absorption was developed,and its nanoparticle achieved a remarkable PCE of 86.3% under 1,064 nm laser excitation.Femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy and quantum mechanical calculations demonstrated the accelerated internal conversion process in NIR-II PTAs for rapid heat generation.The NSQs nanoparticles exhibit superior photothermal therapeutic properties for in vivo photoacoustic imaging-guided PTT,demonstrating the potential of bottom-up design to enable synergistic engineering strategies towards efficient phototheranostic agents. 展开更多

Internal short circuit(ISC)is the major failure problem for the safe application of lithium-ion batteries,especially for the batteries with high energy density.However,how to quantify the hazard aroused by the ISC,and what kinds of ISC will lead to thermal runaway are still unclear.This paper investigates the thermal-electrical coupled behaviors of ISC,using batteries with Li(Ni_(1/3)CO_(1/3)Mn_(1/3))O_(2) cathode and composite separator.The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of customized battery that has no LiPF6 salt is utilized to standardize the resistance of ISC.Furthermore,this paper compares the thermal-electrical coupled behaviors of the above four types of ISC at different states-of-charge.There is an area expansion phenomenon for the aluminum-anode type of ISC.The expansion effect of the failure area directly links to the melting and collapse of separator,and plays an important role in further evolution of thermal runaway.This work provides guidance to the development of the ISC models,detection algorithms,and correlated countermeasures. 展开更多

Based on the wavelength transparency of the Butler matrix(BM)beamforming network,we demonstrate a multibeam optical phased array(MOPA)with an emitting aperture composed of grating couplers at a 1.55μm pitch for wavelength-assisted two-dimensional beam-steering.The device is capable of simultaneous multi-beam operation in a field of view(FOV)of 60°×8°in the phased-array scanning axis and the wavelength-tuning scanning axis,respectively.The typical beam divergence is about 4°on both axes.Using multiple linearly chirped lasers,multibeam frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW)ranging is realized with an average ranging error of 4 cm.A C-shaped target is imaged for proof-of-concept 2D scanning and ranging. 展开更多

Students in higher vocational colleges are faced with difficult problems such as slow employment,which highlights the dislocation between education and the market.This study surveyed thousands of students and hundreds of enterprises,and put forward docking strategies.The analysis shows that the mismatch between skills adaptation and literacy is the main cause of slow employment.To this end,research and design training programs,including curriculum restructuring,school-enterprise cooperation practice platforms,and employment-oriented quality improvement plans are imperative.At the same time,we will develop teaching modules for career planning to enhance competitiveness and ensure that the content is synchronized with industry standards.After the implementation,the employment rate of students increased by 15%within six months,the degree of interconnection increased by 20%,and the degree of enterprise recognition increased by 25%.The research effectively promotes the docking of higher vocational education with the market,and has far-reaching significance for easing slow employment. 展开更多

Background:The results of studies comparing Billroth-I(B-I)with Roux-en-Y(R-Y)reconstruction on the quality of life(QoL)are still inconsistent.The aim of this trial was to compare the long-term QoL of B-I with R-Y anastomosis after curative distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer.Methods:A total of 140 patients undergoing curative distal gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy in West China Hospital,Sichuan University from May 2011 to May 2014 were randomly assigned to the B-I group(N=70)and R-Y group(N=70).The follow-up time points were 1,3,6,9,12,24,36,48,and 60 months after the operation.The final follow-up time was May 2019.The clinicopathological features,operative safety,postoperative recovery,long-term survival as well as QoL were compared,among which QoL score was the primary outcome.An intention-to-treat analysis was applied.Results:The baseline characteristics were comparable between the two groups.There were no statistically significant differences in terms of postoperative morbidity and mortality rates,and postoperative recovery between the two groups.Less estimated blood loss and shorter surgical duration were found in the B-I group.There were no statistically significant differences in 5-year overall survival(79%[55/70]of the B-I group vs.80%[56/70]of the R-Y group,P=0.966)and recurrence-free survival rates(79%[55/70]of the B-I group vs.78%[55/70]of the R-Y group,P=0.979)between the two groups.The scores of the global health status of the R-Y group were higher than those of the B-I group with statistically significant differences(postoperative 1 year:85.4±13.1 vs.88.8±16.1,P=0.033;postoperative 3 year:87.3±15.2 vs.92.8±11.3,P=0.028;postoperative 5 year:90.9±13.7 vs.96.4±5.6,P=0.010),and the reflux(postoperative 3 year:8.8±12.9 vs.2.8±5.3,P=0.001;postoperative 5 year:5.1±9.8 vs.1.8±4.7,P=0.033)and epigastric pain(postoperative 1 year:11.8±12.7 vs.6.1±8.8,P=0.008;postoperative 3 year:9.4±10.6 vs.4.6±7.9,P=0.006;postoperative 5 year:6.0±8.9 vs.2.7±4.6,P=0.022)were milder in the R-Y group than 展开更多

Acute kidney injury(AKI)is a common clinical serious illness.Esculin(ES)is a coumarin compound of traditional Chinese medicine Cortex Fraxini.Our previous study has found that ES protects against inflammation and renal damage in diabetic rats.In the present study,we aimed to investigate the effects and the possible mechanism of ES against lipopolysaccharides(LPS)-induced AKI in mice.Renal morphology was observed by H&E staining.Renal function was evaluated by blood urea nitrogen(BUN)level and creatinine content in serum.Inflammatory factor levels were measured by ELISA assay.The inflammatory proteins were analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blotting analysis.The results showed that ES alleviated LPS-induced pathological injury and renal dysfunction,and decreased BUN level and creatinine content in serum.In addition,ES significantly reduced the release of pro-inflammatory factors,including IL-1β,IL-6 and TNF-α,chemokine MCP-1 and cell adhesion molecule ICAM-1.Furthermore,the expressions of inflammatory pathway proteins P2 X7,HMGB1,TLR4 and MyD88 both at the mRNA and protein levels were all down-regulated by ES in the kidney tissue of LPS-challenged mice.These results suggested ES protected against LPS-induced AKI through inhibiting P2 X7 expression and HMGB1/TLR4 inflammatory pathway. 展开更多
