Methods: Enrolled in a casecontrol study were 70 randomly sampled CBPP and 70 randomly sampled healthy adult volunteers (HAV), on whom plasma nitric oxide (NO), vitamin C (VC), vitamin E (VE) and β-carotene (β-CAR) level, erythrocyte malondialdehyde (MDA) level, as well as erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX) activities were determined by spectrophotometry. Results: Compared with the HAV group, values of plasma NO and erythrocyte MDA in the CBPP group were significantly increased (P 〈 0.001); those of plasma VC, VE and β-CAR as well as erythrocyte SOD, CAT and GPX activities in the CBPP group were significantly decreased (P 〈 0.001). Findings from partial correlation for the 70 CBPP showed that with prolonged course of disease, values of NO and MDA were gradually increased (P 〈 0.001), and those of VC, VE, β-CAR, SOD, CAT and GPX were gradually decreased (P 〈 0.05- 0.001). The findings from stepwise regression for the 70 CBPP suggested that the model was Y= -13.2077 + 0.1894MDA + 0.0415NO - 0.1999GPX, F = 18.2047, P 〈 0.001, r = 0.6729, P 〈 0.001. Conclusion: The findings suggest that there exist increased oxidative stress and oxidative damage induced by chronic bacterial prostatitis in the patients, and such phenomenon was closely related to the course of disease.展开更多

These interactions are fundamental to understanding anti-infection immunity of hosts, as well as the pathogenesis of pathogens. For bacterial pathogens interacting with animal hosts, timeresolved dual RNA-seq of infected tissue is difficult to perform due to low pathogen load in infected tissue. In this study, an acute infection model of Larimichthys crocea infected by Pseudomonas plecoglossicida was established. The spleens of infected fish exhibited typical symptoms, with a maximum bacterial load at two days post-injection(dpi). Time-resolved dual RNA-seq of infected spleens was successfully applied to study hostpathogen interactions between L. crocea and P.plecoglossicida. The spleens of infected L. crocea were subjected to dual RNA-seq, and transcriptome data were compared with those of noninfected spleens or in vitro cultured bacteria. Results showed that pathogen-host interactions were highly dynamically regulated, with corresponding fluctuations in host and pathogen transcriptomes during infection. The expression levels of many immunogenes involved in cytokine-cytokine receptor,Toll-like receptor signaling, and other immunerelated pathways were significantly up-regulated during the infection period. Furthermore, metabolic processes and the use of oxygen in L. crocea were strongly affected by P. plecoglossicida infection. The WGCNA results showed that the metabolic process was strongly related to the entire immune process. For P. plecoglossicida, the expression levels of motility-related genes and flagellum assemblyrelated genes were significantly up-regulated. The results of this study may help to elucidate the interactions between L. crocea and P.plecoglossicida.展开更多

According to pathological examinations or the overall modified response evaluationcriteria in solid tumors (mRECIST) criterion, 48 and 34 nodules were divided into true progressionand pseudo-progression groups, respectively. The TACE-treated area, peritumoral liver zone, andfar-tumoral zone were evaluated on DKI-derived metric maps. Non-parametric U test and receiveroperating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis were used to evaluate the prediction performance ofeach DKI metric between the two groups. The independent t-test was used to compare each DKImetric between the peritumoral and far-tumoral zones of the true progression group.RESULTSDKI metrics, including mean diffusivity (MD), axial diffusivity (DA), radial diffusivity (DR), axialkurtosis (KA), and anisotropy fraction of kurtosis (Fak), showed statistically different valuesbetween the true progression and pseudo-progression groups (P < 0.05). Among these, MD, DA,and DR values were higher in pseudo-progression lesions than in true progression lesions, whereas KA and FAk values were higher in true progression lesions than in pseudo-progressionlesions. Thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated that 900°C was the suitable temperature for the calcination. Leaching tests showed that hydrochloric acid was more effective for iron dissolution from raw coal kaolin (RCK), whereas oxalic acid was more effective on iron dissolution from calcined coal kaolin (CCK). The iron dissolution from CCK was 28.78wt%, which is far less effective than the 54.86wt% of RCK under their respective optimal conditions. Through analysis by using M?ssbauer spectroscopy, it is detected that nearly all of the structural ferrous ions in RCK were removed by hydrochloric acid. However, iron sites in CCK changed slightly by oxalic acid leaching because nearly all ferrous ions were transformed into ferric species after firing at 900°C. It can be concluded that it is difficult to remove the structural ferric ions and ferric oxides evolved from the structural ferrous ions. Thus, iron removal by acids should be conducted prior to calcination.展开更多
