Background:Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)is the most general malignancy of the primary central nervous system that is characterized by high aggressiveness and lethality.Transmembrane protein 159(TMEM159)is an endoplasmi...Background:Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)is the most general malignancy of the primary central nervous system that is characterized by high aggressiveness and lethality.Transmembrane protein 159(TMEM159)is an endoplasmic reticulum protein that can form oligomers with seipin.The TMEM159-seipin complex decides the site of lipid droplet(LD)formation,and the formation of LDs is a marker of GBM.However,the role of TMEM159 in the progression of GBM has not been investigated to date.Methods:In this study,we examined the genes that may be associated with patient prognosis in GBM by bioinformatics analyses,and identified the key genes that affect the development of GBM using single-cell RNA sequencing technology.The biological functions of TMEM159 in GBM cells were additionally assessed by clone formation and transwell assays as well as using a model of chick embryo chorioallantois membrane(CAM)and western blotting.The association between TMEM159 and epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)was finally analyzed in GBM cells.Results:A prognostic model was established and validated for predicting the prognosis.Survival curve analysis showed a critical difference in the prognosis of the high-and low-risk groups predicted by the prognostic model.The results demonstrated that TMEM159 affected the proliferation and invasion of GBM cells.The chick embryo CAM assays demonstrated that the inhibition of TMEM159 expression reduced angiogenesis in the CAM model.Conclusions:The prognostic model achieved good predictive potential for high-risk patients.The findings also revealed that TMEM159 might be an important prognostic factor for GBM,indicating that the protein may be a promising therapeutic target for suppressing the development of GBM.展开更多

Rather than assuming the scheduling interval(SI) time, which is the update interval of the radar invoking the scheduling algorithm, to be a fixed value,it is modeled as a fuzzy set to improve the scheduling flexibility.The scheduling algorithm exploits the fuzzy set model in order to intelligently adjust the SI time. The idle time in other SIs is provided for SIs which will be overload. Thereby more request tasks can be accommodated. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves the successful scheduling ratio by 16%,the threat ratio of execution by 16% and the time utilization ratio by 15% compared with the highest task mode priority first(HPF)algorithm.展开更多

The following study evaluated the effect...Lumbar degenerative disc diseases cause low back pain(LBP). The maintenance of the height and stability of the intervertebral disc(IVD) space is an effective treatment for LBP. The following study evaluated the effects of fibroblast injection on intervertebral disc degeneration(IDD) in a preclinical setting. Compared with the IDD group, the fibroblast treatment group demonstrated effective maintenance of IVD height, reduced endplate degeneration, and improved nuclear magnetic resonance signals and overall histological structure. In doing so, fibrotic IVDs maintained the stability and biomechanics of the vertebra. This finding is in agreement with clinical findings that human nucleus pulposus(NP) fibrosis is essential for the maintenance of IVD height and mechanical properties in patients following percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy(PELD). Mechanistically, we demonstrated that injected fibroblasts not only proliferated but also induced NP cells to adopt a fibrotic phenotype via the secretion of TGF-β.Finally, to better mimic human conditions, the efficacy of autologous fibroblast injection in the treatment of IDD was further examined in a nonhuman primate cynomolgus monkey model due to their capacity for upright posture. We showed that the injection of fibroblasts could maintain the IVD height and rescue IVD signals in cynomolgus monkeys. Taken together, the results of our study reveal that autologous fibroblast injection can enhance the natural process of fibrosis during acute and subacute stages of stress-induced IDD. Fibrotic IVDs can maintain the stability, biological activity, and mechanical properties of the intervertebral space, thus providing a new direction for the treatment of intervertebral space-derived lumbar degenerative diseases.展开更多
China is switching from economic growth based on extremely rapid capital accumulation to economic growth based on structural reforms and accelerated total factor productivity growth. Meanwhile, China will also face a ...China is switching from economic growth based on extremely rapid capital accumulation to economic growth based on structural reforms and accelerated total factor productivity growth. Meanwhile, China will also face a serious excess saving problem as capital accumulation slows and, hence, needs to reduce its private saving rate. Based on this analysis, we estimated the economic impact of China's growth slowdown and hypothetical economic transformation on Japan, the USA and Germany using the worm input-output database. We compared the following three scenarios for China's final demand in 2020 and economic growth from 2015 to 2020: (i) an optimistic scenario (GDP growth rate = 6.2%, investment/GDP = 0.501); (ii) a slowdown scenario (GDP growth rate = 4%, investment/GDP = 0.501); and (iii) a structural reform scenario (GDP growth rate = 6.2%, investment/GDP = 0.3). Our analysis suggests that Japan and Germany would suffer more from structural reforms in China than from a slowdown in growth. Meanwhile, for the USA, the employment decline triggered by structural reforms wouM be much smaller than the employment decline caused by a slowdown in growth.展开更多

Strong dispersion management to suppress the detrimental effects of intra-channel four-wave mixing is presented theoretically and verified experimentally. Results demonstrate that amplitude fluctuation and ghost pulses are well suppressed by strong dispersion management. Stable (>2 h) error-free (10-12 ) transmission over 100 km is achieved without forward-error correction, and the power penalty is ~3.6 dB.展开更多

The rCBF values measured by this method are highly consistent with the values measured by other classical methods such as SPECT (123I-IMP) and PET (15O-H2O). The rCBF values for early syphilis patients and the normal control show some statistical differences. A routine quantitative absolute measurement of rCBF featured with simple procedures is therefore on the way of maturation.展开更多
