AIM: To study the interactive relationship of gallbladder motor function, plasma cholecystokinin (CCK) and cholecystokinin A receptor (CCK-R) of gallbladder in patients with cholesterol stone disease.METHODS: Gallbladder motility was studied by ultrasonography in 33 patients with gallbladder stone and 10 health subjects as controls. Plasma CCK concentration was measured by radioimmunoassay in fasting status (CCK-f) and in 30 min after lipid test meal (CCK-30).Radioligand method was employed to analyze the amount and activity of CCK-R from 33 gallstone patients having cholecystectomy and 8 persons without gallstone died of severe trauma as controls.RESULTS: The percentage of cholesterol in the gallstone composition was more than 70%. The cholesterol stone type was indicated for the patients with gallbladder stone in this study. Based on the criterion of gallbladder residual fraction of the control group, 33 gallstone patients were divided into two subgroups, contractor group (14 cases)and non-contractor group (19 cases), The concentration of CCK-30 was significantly higher in non-contractor group than that in both contractor group and control group (55.86±3.86 pmol/l vs 37.85±0.88 pmol/l and 37.95±0.74 pmol/L, P<0.01), but there was no difference between contractor group and control group. Meanwhile no significant difference of the concentration of CCK-f could be observed among three groups. The amount of CCK-R was lower in non-contractor group than those in both control group and contractor group (10.27±0.94 fmol/mg vs24.59±2.39 fmol/mg and 22.66±0.55 fmol/mg, P<0.01).The activity of CCK-R shown as KD in non-contractor group decreased compared to that in control group and contractor group. Only was the activity of CCK-R lower in contractor group than that in control group. AIM: To investigate the relationship between gallbladder stone disease (GSD) and single nucleotide polymorphisms of cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A) gene promoter,apolipoprotein (APO) B gene exon 26, APOEgene exon 4 or microsatellite polymorphism of low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene exon 18.METHODS: Genotypes of CYP7A, APOB, APOE and LDLR genes were determined in 105 patients with GSD diagnosed by B-mode ultrasonography and 274 control subjects.Serum lipids were analyzed with HITACHI 7060 automaic biochemical analyzer.RESULTS: Body mass index (BMI) was significantly higher in patients with GSD (24.47±3.09) than in controls (23.50±2.16).Plasma total cholesterol was lower in patients with GSD (4.66±0.92 mmol/L) than in controls (4.91±0.96 mmol/L),P<0.01 after adjusted for age, sex and BMI. The significantly higher frequency of A allele of CYP7A gene polymorphism and X+ allele of APOBgene polymorphism was seen in GSD patients. Percentages of A allele in patients and controls were 62.86% and 54.38% (P <0.05) and those of X+ allele 8.57% and 4.01% (P<0.01). Subjects with A allele had significantly lower plasma total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol than subjects with CC homozygote. In a multiple variable logistic regression model, the BMI (OR=1.13, 95% CI: 1.05-1.22), A allele (OR=1.48, 95% CI: 1.05-2.09) and X+ allele (OR=2.28, 95% CI: 1.14-4.59) were positively associated with GSD (P <0.05). Plasma total cholesterol (OR=0.69, 95% CI: 0.64-0.74) was negatively related to GSD (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: With an association analysis, it was determined that A allele of CYP7A gene and X+ allele of APOB gene might be considered as risk genes for GSD. These alleles are related with differences of serum lipids among subjects.Multiple-variable logistic regression model analysis showed that besides BMI, GSD was affected by polygenetic factors.But the mechanism for these two alleles responsible for GSD requires further investigations. 展开更多

Objective Benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P), a ubiquitous environmental pollutant, is a potent procarcinogen and mutagen that can elicit tumors, leading to malignancy. Heat shock proteins (Hsp) have been shown to protect cells against damages caused by various stresses including exposure to numerous chemicals. Whether Hsps, or more specifically Hsp70, are involved in repair of B[a]P-induced DNA damage is currently unknown. Methods We assessed the potential role of the inducible form of Hsp70 in B[a]P-induced DNA damage of human embryonic lung (HEL) cells using immunoblot and the comet assay (i.e., the single cell gel electrophoresis assay). Results Exposure to B[a]P induced a dose-dependent decrease in the level of Hsp70, but a dose-dependent +-increase in DNA damage both in untreated (control) HEL cells and in cells preconditioned by a heat treatment. Heat preconditioning prior to B[a]P exposure potentiated the effect of B[a]P at a low dose (10 μmol/L), but appeared to be protective at higher doses. There was a negative correlation between Hsp70 level and DNA damage in the non-preheated as well as in the preconditioned cells. Conclusion These data suggest that exposure of HEL cells to B[a]P may induce a dose-dependent reduction in the levels of the inducible Hsp70. The detailed mechanisms for the reduction of Hsp70 levels by B[a]P and the role of Hsp70 in DNA damage under different concentrations of B[a]P remains to be determined. 展开更多

The electrochemical processes of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)play a crucial role in various energy storage and conversion systems.However,the inherently slow kinetics of reversible oxygen reactions present an urgent demand for the development of efficient oxygen electrocatalysts.Recently,metal-organic framework(MOF)derivatives have attracted extensive attention in electrocatalysis research due to their unique porous structure,abundant active sites,and tunable structural properties.Especially,the optimization of the electronic structure of active sites in MOF derivatives has been proven as an effective strategy to enhance the catalytic activity.In this review,we provide an overview of the electronic structure optimization strategies for active sites in MOF derivatives as advanced catalysts in various O—O bond activation reactions,including the construction of synergistic effects between multiple sites,the development of heterogeneous interfaces,the utilization of metal support interactions,and the precise modulation of organic ligands surrounding catalytic active sites at the atomic level.Furthermore,this review offers theoretical insights into the oxygen activation and catalytic mechanisms of MOF derivatives,as well as the identification of active sites.Finally,the potential challenges and prospects of MOF derivatives in electrocatalysis are discussed.This review contributes to the understanding and advancement of efficient oxygen electrocatalysis in energy systems. 展开更多

Direct numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the behavior of heavy particles in homogeneous isotropic turbulence. The present study focused on the effect of particle inertia and drift on the autocorrelations of the particle velocity and the fluid seen by particles and the dispersion characteristics of particles. The Lagrangian integral time scale of particles monotonically increased as the magnitude of the particle response time increased, while that of the fluid seen by particles remained relatively constant; it reached a maximum when the particle response time was close to the Kolmolgorov time scale of the flow. Particle dispersion increased as the particle inertia increased for small particles, while for larger particles, it decreased as particle inertia increased; particle eddy diffusion coefficient was maximal, and greater than that of the fluid by about 30%, at the preferential concentration. The concentration field of the particles with <SUB>p</SUB>/<SUB>k</SUB>1.0 showed that particles tend to collect in regions of low vorticity (high strain) due to preferential concentration. As the drift velocity of a particle is increased it crosses the paths of fluid elements more rapidly and will tend to lose correlation with its previous velocity faster than a fluid element will. And the correlation of particle velocities along the drift direction is more persistent than that perpendicular to the direction of drift. Simulations also showed that the continuity effect and the crossing-trajectory effect are weakened for particles with infinite inertia. 展开更多

Network virtualization(NV) is pushed forward by its proponents as a crucial attribute of next generation network, aiming at overcoming the gradual ossification of current networks, particularly to the worldwide Internet. Through virtualization, multiple customized virtual networks(VNs), requested by users, are allowed to coexist on the underlying substrate networks(SNs). In addition, the virtualization scheme contributes to sharing underlying physical resources simultaneously and seamlessly. However, multiple technical issues still stand in the way of NV successful implementation. One key technical issue is virtual network embedding(VNE), known as the resource allocation problem for NV. This paper conducts a survey of embedding algorithms for VNE problem. At first, the NV business model for VNE problem is presented. Then, the latest VNE problem description is presented. Main performance metrics for evaluating embedding algorithms are also involved. Afterwards, existing VNE algorithms are detailed, according to the novel proposed category approach. Next, key future research aspects of embedding algorithms are listed out. Finally, the paper is briefly concluded. 展开更多

Thick sediments from foreland basins usually provide valuable information for understanding the relationships between mountain building,rock denudation,and sediment deposition.In this paper,we report environmental magnetic measurements performed on the Miocene sediments in the Subei Basin,northeastern Tibetan Plateau.Our results show two different patterns.First,the bulk susceptibility and SIRM,ARM,and HIRM mainly reflect the absolute-concentration of magnetic minerals;all have increased remarkably since 13.7 Ma,related to provenance change rather than climate change.Second,the ratios of IRM100mT/SIRM,IRM100mT/IRM30mT,and IRM100mT/IRM60mT,together with the redness and S ratio,reflect the relative-concentration of hematite,being climate-dependent.Their vertical changes correlate in general with the long-term Miocene climatic records of marine oxygen isotope variations,marked by the existence of higher ratios between 17 and 14 Ma.This may imply that global climate change,rather than uplift of the Tibetan Plateau,played a dominant role in the long-term climatic evolution of the Subei area from the early to middle Miocene. 展开更多

The field of nanomedicine has emerged as a vital component in cancer treatment modalities over the past decades.Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)at the nanoscale have become a novel and promising category of biomaterials in the field of nanomedicine.Their distinctive properties,such as low density,exceptional porosity,crystalline structure,remarkable thermal stability,versatile functionality,and biocompatibility,contribute to their significant potential in cancer therapy applications.This review firstly discusses COFs with various morphologies in theranostic applications.The primary morphologies of COFs for tumors treatment can be categorized into four types:nanospheres,nanosheets,nano-rods/tubes and nanoparticles.Furthermore,we review recent research articles and systematically discuss recent advancements in COFs for chemotherapy,chemodynamic therapy,photodynamic therapy,photothermal therapy and combination therapy.In conclusion,we outline the current obstacles and potential future directions for this distinctive research area. 展开更多

In recent years,researches on improving high-voltage performance of lithium-ion batteries incorporating LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2)(NCM523)and artificial graphite(AG)have been widely reported.However,limited attentions have been paid to understand the effects and influence mechanisms of charge and discharge rates and charge limit currents on cyclability of NCM523/AG cells.Herein,a∼1.9 Ah NCM523/AG pouch cell is employed,whose electrochemical and structural evolutions after 800 cycles at various rates are comprehensively investigated.We find that cycling performances are strongly influenced by charge rate,followed by limit current and discharge rate.The cell charged at a high rate and cell charged until reaching a low limit current both exhibit low capacity retentions compared to the cell discharged at a high rate.Possible failure reasons are analyzed by advanced characterizations.Results reveal that NCM523 cathodes of the cells deteriorated early experience severe transition metal dissolution,lattice distortion,and partial phase transformation.Meanwhile,the deposited transition metals on AG anodes catalyze the electrolyte consumption,lithium plating and active area loss.Finally,these side reactions notably increase cell impedance and electrochemical polarization.Undoubtedly,these findings clearly outline the challenges and optimization direction for high-rate NCM523/AG cells. 展开更多

Background Our previous studies demonstrated that divalent organic iron(Fe)proteinate sources with higher complexation or chelation strengths as expressed by the greater quotient of formation(Qf)values displayed higher Fe bioavailabilities for broilers.Sodium iron ethylenediaminetetraacetate(NaFeEDTA)is a trivalent organic Fe source with the strongest chelating ligand EDTA.However,the bioavailability of Fe when administered as NaFeEDTA in broilers and other agricultural animals remains untested.Herein,the chemical characteristics of 12 NaFeEDTA products were determined.Of these,one feed grade NaFeEDTA(Qf=2.07×10^(8)),one food grade NaFeEDTA(Qf=3.31×10^(8)),and one Fe proteinate with an extremely strong chelation strength(Fe-Prot ES,Qf value=8,590)were selected.Their bioavailabilities relative to Fe sulfate(FeSO_(4)·7H_(2)O)for broilers fed with a conventional corn-soybean meal diet were evaluated during d 1 to 21 by investigating the effects of the above Fe sources and added Fe levels on the growth performance,hematological indices,Fe contents,activities and gene expressions of Fe-containing enzymes in various tissues of broilers.Results NaFeEDTA sources varied greatly in their chemical characteristics.Plasma Fe concentration(PI),transferrin saturation(TS),liver Fe content,succinate dehydrogenase(SDH)activities in liver,heart,and kidney,catalase(CAT)activity in liver,and SDH mRNA expressions in liver and kidney increased linearly(P<0.05)with increasing levels of Fe supplementation.However,differences among Fe sources were detected(P<0.05)only for PI,liver Fe content,CAT activity in liver,SDH activities in heart and kidney,and SDH mRNA expressions in liver and kidney.Based on slope ratios from multiple linear regressions of the above indices on daily dietary analyzed Fe intake,the average bioavailabilities of Fe-Prot ES,feed grade NaFeEDTA,and food grade NaFeEDTA relative to the inorganic FeSO_(4)·7H_(2)O(100%)for broilers were 139%,155%,and 166%,respectively.Conclusions The bioavailabilities of organic Fe sou 展开更多

Hydrogen energy is an important energy carrier,which is an ideal choice to meet energy demand and reduce harmful gas emissions.The green recycling of hydrogen energy depends on water electrolysis and hydrogen fuel cells,which involves hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).The activity of HER/HOR in alkaline electrolyte,however,exhibits a significantly lower magnitude(2–3 orders)compared to that observed in an acidic medium,which hinders the development of alkaline water electrolysis and alkaline membrane fuel cells.Therefore,comprehending the characteristics of HOR/HER activity in alkaline electrolytes and elucidating its underlyingmechanismis a prerequisite for the designof advanced electrocatalysts.Based on this background,this reviewwill briefly summarize the explanations and controversies about the basic HOR mechanism,including bifunctional mechanismand hydrogen binding energy theory.Moreover,the crucial affecting factors of theHOR kinetics,such as dband center theory,interfacial water recombination,alkali metal cations and electronic effects,are discussed.Thus,based on the above theories,the design principle,catalytic performance,and latest progress ofHOR electrocatalysts are summarized.An outlook and future research perspectives of advanced catalysts for hydrogen energy recycling are addressed.This reviewis helpful to understand the latest development ofHORmechanismand design cost-effective and high-performance HOR electrocatalysts towards the production of clean renewable energies. 展开更多

This research was to assess the dietary copper(Cu)requirement of broiler chickens fed a practical cornsoybean meal diet during 22—42 d of age.A total of 288 numbered Arbor Acres male broilers at 22 d of age were randomly allotted 6 treatments with 8 replicate cages(6 broilers per cage)per treatment.Broilers were fed a Cu-unsupplemented corn-soybean meal basal diet(control,containing 7.36 mg Cu/kg)or the basal diet added with 3,6,9,12,or 15 mg Cu/kg from CuSO_(4)·5H_(2)O for 21 d.Quadratic,asymptotic and broken-line models were fitted and the best fitted models were selected to determine dietary Cu requirements.The results revealed that the contents of Cu in serum and liver,m RNA expression levels of Cu-and zinc-containing superoxide dismutase(CuZnSOD)in liver and monoamine oxidase b(MAO B)in heart,as well as protein expression level of CuZnSOD in liver were affected(P<0.05)by supplemental Cu levels,and the above indices varied linearly and quadratically(P<0.05)with increasing Cu levels.Dietary Cu requirements assessed according to the best fitted broken-line models(P<0.05)of the above indexes were 10.45—13.81 mg/kg.It was concluded that mRNA expression levels of CuZnSOD in liver and MAO B in heart,as well as liver CuZnSOD protein expression level were new specific sensitive biomarkers for estimating dietary Cu requirements,and the dietary Cu requirement was recommended to be 14 mg/kg to support Cu metabolic needs related to key Cucontaining enzymes in broilers fed the corn-soybean meal diet during 22—42 d of age,which was higher than the dietary Cu requirement(8 mg/kg)for broilers at the corresponding stage suggested by the Chinese Feeding Standard of Chicken. 展开更多

Metallic lithium represents a promising anode candidate to be utilized in future high-energy lithium batteries.However,the undesirable dendrite growth and fragile solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI)pose critical challenge for pursuing further practical application.In contrast to traditional approaches of using inert/lithiophilicity coating,here,we demonstrate a reverse strategy of introducing a highly conductive and lithophobic carbon fabric(CF)scaffold on lithium foil to guide a favorable nucleation site of lithium far away from the anode/separator interface.The CF scaffold with high conductivity can couple with inner electric field for achieving a uniform distribution of the lithium-ion flux,while the lithophobic feature offers the condition to guide the preferred deposition of lithium onto the underlying lithium foil,which greatly reduces the risk of dendrite-induced short circuits.Moreover,the SEI immersed in the CF scaffold is well supported by CF fibers and therefore exhibits extremely high stability during charge–discharge cycles.As a result,the lithium/CF anodes show>2,000-h stable cycling at 0.5 mA cm−2.Lithium metal batteries equipped with our lithium/CF anode deliver a high capacity retention of~99.99%per cycle,i.e.,retain~97.3%capacity after 200 cycles.The unique interface-regulation strategy is versatile for various conductive scaffolds(e.g.,ultrathin and ultralight conductive fabrics),exhibiting high superiority for highly safe lithium metal batteries. 展开更多

Dynamic crosstalk between the embryo and mother is crucial during implantation.Here,we comprehensively profile the single-cell transcriptome of pig peri-implantation embryos and corresponding maternal endometrium,identifying 4 different lineages in embryos and 13 cell types in the endometrium.Cell-specific gene expression characterizes 4 distinct trophectoderm subpopulations,showing development from undifferentiated trophectoderm to polar and mural trophectoderm.Dynamic expression of genes in different types of endometrial cells illustrates their molecular response to embryos during implantation.Then,we developed a novel tool,ExtraCellTalk,generating an overall dynamic map of maternal-foetal crosstalk using uterine luminal proteins as bridges.Through cross-species comparisons,we identified a conserved RBP4/STRA6 pathway in which embryonic-derived RBP4 could target the STRA6 receptor on stromal cells to regulate the interaction with other endometrial cells.These results provide insight into the maternal-foetal crosstalk during embryo implantation and represent a valuable resource for further studies to improve embryo implantation. 展开更多

We choose Shanghai Composite index as the research object, through correlation analysis, Granger causality analysis, and support vector machine classification, the results have shown that the keywords heat on micro blog can make a short-time prediction of stock market, and the keyword which expresses negative emotion have more powerful prediction ability. 展开更多

Effect of manganese on heat stress protein synthesis of new-born rats

One group was administrated with physiologicalsaline only as control group, the other three groups wereadministrated with 7.5, 15 and 30 mg@ kg-1 manganesechloride (MnCl2) by intraperitioneal injection every two daysfor two weeks. After delivery, the mother-rats receivedMnCl2 unceasingly for a week with the same method. Thenthe contents of Mn、 Zn、 Cu and Fe in the livers of the new-bom rats were determined by atomic absorptionspectroscopy; The level of HSP70 in the brains and thelivers of the new-born rats as detected by Westsrn-dot-blotting, and the SOD activities were measuredsimultaneously.RESULTS: The contents of Mn in the livers of new-bom ratsof the experimental groups(respective 1.38 ± 0.18, 2.73 ±0.65, 3.44 ± 0.89μg @ g-1) were significantly increasedcompared with the control group(0.88 ± 0.18μg@ g-1; p <0.01); The contents of Fe in the livers of new-bom rats of 15and 30 mg@ kg-1 experimental groups (426 ± 125,572 ± 175μg@g-1, respectively) were significantly increased comparedwith the control group(286±42μg@g-1; P<0.05); the levelsof Zn in the livers of the new-bom rats of three experimentalgroups( 254 ± 49, 263 ± 47, 213 ± 28μg@ g-1, respectively)were lower than those of the control group(335 ± 50μg@g-1;respective P<0.05, P<0.01); and the levels of Cu showedno significant difference among the four groups (threeexperimental groups: 75 ± 21, 68 ± 241 and 78 ± 18μg@g-1;control group: 83 ± 9μg@ g-1; p > 0.05). The UNESCO label of World Heritage can attract a high number of tourists to heritage properties for their Outstanding Universal Values(OUV).Although international studies have demonstrated the World Heritage system can contribute to stimulating cultural tourism and boosting the local economy,how this heritage-led development process promotes urban conservation and morphological changes in cities is yet to be explored adequately.This paper aims to explore the urban morphology of a historic Chinese city after its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List,taking the Old Town of Lijiang as case.The methods of spatial plan analysis and discourse analysis are used to analyse the data.The research findings have demonstrated that,theoretically,the Conzenian approach of urban morphology can be an effective framework for World Heritage OUV-monitoring.Methodologically,the analysis of spatial plans and multi-stakeholder interviews can reveal local urban morphology from macro to micro levels.Case-specifically in Lijiang,urban physical characteristics and building structures have been well maintained while traditional social fabric and neighbourhood networks have almost vanished.This research has incorporated the urban morphology approach into(world)heritage management in China,as well as worldwide,in order to maintain the balance between urban conservation and economic growth. 展开更多

Nitrate is considered to be one of the most widely present pollutants leading to eutrophication of environment. The purpose of this work was to isolate and identify new anaerobic denitrifying bacteria from reservoir sediments and utilize different electron donors for isolates to improve nitrate removal efficiency. Using traditional enrichment approach,one purified anaerobic bacterium( Y12) capable of NO-3-N removal from sediments was obtained. The species identity of Y12 was determined via 16 S rRNA gene sequence analysis to be Acinetobacter. In this work,the fastest denitrification rates were observed with ferrous iron as electron donor.And,slightly slower rates were observed with hydrogen and sodium sulfide as electron donors. However,when used hydrogen gas, ferrous iron and sodium sulfide as electron donors, C / N ratios had little effect on autotrophic denitrification rate at the initial C / N ratio from 1.5 to 9.0. Meanwhile,when made use of hydrogen gas,ferrous iron and sodium sulfide as electron donors,a maximum nitrate removal ratio of 100.00%,91.43%and 87.99% at the temperature of 30 ℃,respectively. Moreover,maximum denitrification activity was observed at p H 6.0-7.0. 展开更多
