Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs) containing polymer matrices and inorganic fillers hold promise for the next generation of solid-state batteries.However,the role of residual solvents in CSEs remains controversial.Th...Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs) containing polymer matrices and inorganic fillers hold promise for the next generation of solid-state batteries.However,the role of residual solvents in CSEs remains controversial.This study investigated the evolution and function of the residual solvent in a polymer-Li_2B_(12)H_(12) CSE.A partial reaction occurred between Li_2B_(12)H_(12) and solvent N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF),which produced dimethylaminomethanol(DMAM) in the CSE.Density functional theory calculations have revealed that DMA M forms stronger hydrogen bonds with polyvinylidene fluoride chains than DMF,which can have a plasticizing effect on the polymer matrix,leading to lower crystallinity and quicker segment motion.Therefore,this CSE exhibited improved Li-ion conducting properties,enabling the stable cycling of Li‖LiFePO_(4) solid-state batteries.This study provided insights into the role of residual solvents in CSEs.展开更多
Sodium-sulfur(Na-S)and potassium-sulfur(K-S)batteries for use at room temperature have received widespread attention because of the abundance and low cost of their raw materials and their high energy density.However,t...Sodium-sulfur(Na-S)and potassium-sulfur(K-S)batteries for use at room temperature have received widespread attention because of the abundance and low cost of their raw materials and their high energy density.However,their development is restricted by the shuttling of polysulfides,large volume expansion and poor conductivity.To overcome these obstacles,an effective approach is to use carbon-based materials with abundant space for the sulfur that has sulfiphilic sites to immobilize it,and a high electrical conductivity.Hollow carbon spheres(HCSs)with a controllable structure and composition are promising for this purpose.We consider recent progress in optimizing the electrochemical performance of Na-/K-S batteries by using these materials.First,the advantages of HCSs,their synthesis methods,and strategies for preparing HCSs/sulfur composite materials are reviewed.Second,the use of HCSs in Na-/K-S batteries,along with mechanisms underlying the resulting performance improvement,are discussed.Finally,prospects for the further development of HCSs for metal−S batteries are presented.展开更多
In this work, the near-eutectic Nb-24Ti-15Si-4Cr-2Al-2Hf(at%) alloy was directionally solidified at 1900 ℃ with withdrawal rates of 6, 18, 36, 50 mm·min^-1 and then heat-treated at 1450 ℃ for 12 h. The micros...In this work, the near-eutectic Nb-24Ti-15Si-4Cr-2Al-2Hf(at%) alloy was directionally solidified at 1900 ℃ with withdrawal rates of 6, 18, 36, 50 mm·min^-1 and then heat-treated at 1450 ℃ for 12 h. The microstructure evolution was investigated. The results show that the microstructure of the directionally solidified(DS) alloy is composed of Nbss+Nb5Si3 eutectics within the whole withdrawal rate range, while the variation of rates makes a great difference on the solidification routes,the morphology and size of Nb_(ss)+Nb_5Si_3 eutectic cells.With the increase in withdrawal rates, the petaloid Nbss+Nb5Si3 eutectic cells transform into granular morphology. After the heat treatment, a mesh structure Nbssis formed gradually which isolates the Nb5Si3, and the phase boundaries become smoother in order to reduce the interfacial energy. Moreover, two kinds of Nb5Si3 exist in the heat-treated(HT) samples identified by crystal form and element composition, which are supposed as α-Nb5Si3 and γ-Nb5Si3, respectively. This study exhibits significant merits in guiding the optimization of Nb-Si-based alloys' mechanical properties.展开更多
In recent decades,a series of policies and practices for environmental flows(e-flows)have been implemented in China,with the sustainable development goal of balancing the utilization and protection of water resources ...In recent decades,a series of policies and practices for environmental flows(e-flows)have been implemented in China,with the sustainable development goal of balancing the utilization and protection of water resources among social,economic,and ecological needs.The aims of this study were to determine the main challenges and issues in e-flows implementation at different scales by analyzing policies and practices for eflows in China,and to propose some recommendations for bridging the gaps between the science and implementation of e-flows.The gaps between the science and implementation of e-flows were found after review of literature,policies,and practices,and it was found that ecological flow was a more widely used term by the government,rather than e-flows,in implementation.The plans and effects of e-flows implementation are discussed in this paper and challenges of e-flows implementation are recognized:(1)limited water resources and uneven spatial and temporal distribution,(2)a weak scientific basis for e-flows implementation,(3)poor operability of e-flows science,and(4)ineffective supervision and guarantee measures.The recommendations are(1)to strengthen the scientific foundation of e-flows,(2)to improve effectiveness in application of e-flows science,and(3)to propose operable and effective supervision and guarantee measures.This paper elaborates the current understanding of e-flows science and provides practical recommendations for implementing e-flows and for improving the effectiveness in e-flows implementation.To bridge the gaps between science and implementation of e-flows and improve the operability of policies in future practices,more scientific research on practices is recommended through adaptive management.展开更多
