Laser-plasma physics has developed rapidly over the past few decades as lasers have become both more powerful and more widely available.Early experimental and numerical research in this field was dominated by single-s...Laser-plasma physics has developed rapidly over the past few decades as lasers have become both more powerful and more widely available.Early experimental and numerical research in this field was dominated by single-shot experiments with limited parameter exploration.However,recent technological improvements make it possible to gather data for hundreds or thousands of different settings in both experiments and simulations.This has sparked interest in using advanced techniques from mathematics,statistics and computer science to deal with,and benefit from,big data.At the same time,sophisticated modeling techniques also provide new ways for researchers to deal effectively with situation where still only sparse data are available.This paper aims to present an overview of relevant machine learning methods with focus on applicability to laser-plasma physics and its important sub-fields of laser-plasma acceleration and inertial confinement fusion.展开更多

The ...The development of scientific inquiry and research has yielded numerous benefits in the realm of intelligent traffic control systems, particularly in the realm of automatic license plate recognition for vehicles. The design of license plate recognition algorithms has undergone digitalization through the utilization of neural networks. In contemporary times, there is a growing demand for vehicle surveillance due to the need for efficient vehicle processing and traffic management. The design, development, and implementation of a license plate recognition system hold significant social, economic, and academic importance. The study aims to present contemporary methodologies and empirical findings pertaining to automated license plate recognition. The primary focus of the automatic license plate recognition algorithm was on image extraction, character segmentation, and recognition. The task of character segmentation has been identified as the most challenging function based on my observations. The license plate recognition project that we designed demonstrated the effectiveness of this method across various observed conditions. Particularly in low-light environments, such as during periods of limited illumination or inclement weather characterized by precipitation. The method has been subjected to testing using a sample size of fifty images, resulting in a 100% accuracy rate. The findings of this study demonstrate the project’s ability to effectively determine the optimal outcomes of simulations.展开更多
Hepatitis E virus(HEV)is a major cause of viral hepatitis globally.There is growing concern about transfusion-transmitted HEV(TT-HEV)as an emerging global health problem.HEV can potentially result in chronic infection...Hepatitis E virus(HEV)is a major cause of viral hepatitis globally.There is growing concern about transfusion-transmitted HEV(TT-HEV)as an emerging global health problem.HEV can potentially result in chronic infection in immunocompromised patients,leading to a higher risk of liver cirrhosis and even death.Between 0.0013%and 0.281%of asymptomatic blood donors around the world have HEV viremia,and 0.27%to 60.5%have anti-HEV immunoglobulin G.HEV is infectious even at very low blood concentrations of the virus.Immunosuppressed patients who develop persistent hepatitis E infection should have their immunosuppressant regimen reduced;ribavirin may be considered as treatment.Pegylated interferon can be considered in those who are refractory or intolerant to ribavirin.Sofosbuvir,a nucleotide analog,showed modest antiviral activity in some clinical studies but sustained viral response was not achieved.Therefore,rescue treatment remains an unmet need.The need for HEV screening of all blood donations remains controversial.Universal screening has been adopted in some countries after consideration of risk and resource availability.Various pathogen reduction methods have also been proposed to reduce the risk of TT-HEV.Future studies are needed to define the incidence of transmission through transfusion,their clinical features,outcomes and prognosis.展开更多

BACKGROUND Sleep problems are particularly prevalent in people with depression or anxiety disorder.Although mindfulness has been suggested as an important component in alleviating insomnia,no comprehensive review and ...BACKGROUND Sleep problems are particularly prevalent in people with depression or anxiety disorder.Although mindfulness has been suggested as an important component in alleviating insomnia,no comprehensive review and meta-analysis has been conducted to evaluate the effects of different mindfulness-based intervention(MBI)programs on sleep among people with depression or anxiety disorder.AIM To compare the effects of different MBI programs on sleep among people with depression or anxiety disorder.METHODS Related publications in Embase,Medline,PubMed and PsycINFO databases were systematically searched from January 2010 to June 2020 for randomised controlled trials.Data were synthesized using a random-effects or a fixed-effects model to analyse the effects of various MBI programs on sleep problems among people with depression or anxiety disorder.The fixed-effects model was used when heterogeneity was negligible,and the random-effects model was used when heterogeneity was significant to calculate the standardised mean differences(SMDs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs).RESULTS We identified 397 articles,of which 10 randomised controlled trials,involving a total of 541 participants,were included in the meta-analysis.Studies of internet mindfulness meditation intervention(IMMI),mindfulness meditation(MM),mindfulness-based cognitive therapy(MBCT),mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)and mindfulness-based touch therapy(MBTT)met the inclusion criteria.The greatest effect sizes are reported in favour of MBTT,with SMDs of-1.138(95%CI:-1.937 to-0.340;P=0.005),followed by-1.003(95%CI:-1.645 to-0.360;P=0.002)for MBCT.SMDs of-0.618(95%CI:-0.980 to-0.257;P=0.001)and-0.551(95%CI:-0.842 to-0.260;P<0.0001)were reported for IMMI and MBSR in the pooling trials,respectively.Significant effects on sleep problem improvement are shown in all reviewed MBI programs,except MM,for which the effect size was shown to be nonsignificant.CONCLUSION All MBI programs(MBTT,MBCT,IMMI and MBSR),except MM,are effective options to improve sleep problems展开更多
OBJECTIVE:To assess the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medical therapy for cancer-related fatigue.METHODS:We systematically searched eight electronic databases up to June 2017 for randomized clinical ...OBJECTIVE:To assess the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medical therapy for cancer-related fatigue.METHODS:We systematically searched eight electronic databases up to June 2017 for randomized clinical trials of traditional Chinese medical therapy for cancer-related fatigue.Two authors independently extracted data and assessed the risk bias of the included trials using the Cochrane Handbook.Data were analyzed by Rev Man 5.2 software.RESULTS:A total of 23 trials involving 1832 participants identified with cancer-related fatigue were included.Twenty trials reported a beneficial effect of traditional Chinese medical therapy on cancer-related fatigue.On pooling the data from Chinese herbal medicine therapy and acupuncture or moxibustion therapy,respectively,significant differences were found between experimental groups and control groups.Fatigue improvement rates showed significant differences between traditional Chinese medical therapy and control groups[odds ratio(OR),7.62;95%confidence interval(CI),3.75-15.49;P<0.00001;and OR,3.78;95%CI,2.29-6.23;P<0.00001).Fatigue change scores also showed significant differences between the two groups(mean difference,-0.91;95%CI,-1.16 to-0.65;P<0.00001).Eleven trials demonstrated that traditional Chinese medical therapy improved the quality of life of cancer patients.No severe adverse effects occurred in traditional Chinese medical therapy groups.CONCLUSION:Meta-analysis showed that Chinese medical therapy seems to be effective and safe in the treatment of cancer-related fatigue.展开更多
