Background and aims:Free fatty acids(FFAs)are one of the important regulators of the progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.The FFAs are shown to modulate the metabolic status of the liver by modulating several cellular pathways in hepatocytes.Here,we elucidated the role of miR-22 in modulating FFAs-mediated gluconeogenesis.Methods:Huh7 and WRL68 cells were transfected with nonspecific miRNA,miR-22 premiRs or anti-miR-22 oligos followed by incubation with palmitic acid,oleic acid,and linoleic acid(300μM each)for 48 and 72 h after transfection.The expression of miR-22 was performed using real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blots were performed for SIRT-1,PGC-1α,PEPCK,and glucose-6-phosphatase.Three groups of C57BL/6 mice(6 mice per group)were fed with standard diet,choline sufficient L-amino acid defined diet or choline-deficient L-amino acid defined(CDAA)diet for 6,18,32,or 54 weeks.Triglycerides content was measured in the serum.Expression of miR-22 and the protein expression of gluconeogenic enzymes were analyzed in the tissue samples.Results:Incubation of miR-22-transfected cells with FFAs inhibited the expression of SIRT-1,PGC-1α,PEPCK,and glucose-6-phosphatase,while miR-22 expression was increased.These changes were reversed when the cells were transfected with anti-miR-22 oligos.CDAA-fed mice showed the significant increase in triglycerides content and miR-22 expression,while there was an inhibition of SIRT-1,PGC-1α,PEPCK,and glucose-6-phosphatase expression in CDAA-fed mice. 展开更多

Main observation and conclusion Photoredox C-H bond formation can proceed in aerobic environment under solar light and has therefore become attractive.Nowa-days,different types of expensive novel metal complexes and nanomaterials have been urbanized as photocatalysts for direct C-H bond formation in between derivatives of heteroarenes(HAs)and aryl diazonium salts.These photocatalysts,however,still suffer from poor stability,high cost,and decay.Herein,a graphitic carbon nitride-based fluorescein isothiocyanate(g-C_(3)N_(4)-FITC)film pho-tocatalyst has been reported,which shows ecellent light harvesting ability,and band gap suitability to catalyze the metal free direct C-H arylation of HAs under solar light at ambient temperature.Moreover,the g-C_(3)N_(4)-FITC film photocatalyst can be reused four times without significant loss of activity,confirming the excellent photocatalytic stability.The current strategy to constructa g-C_(3)N_(4)-FITC film photocatalyst for direct C-H arylation opens a new path towards replacing metal-based catalysts in fine chemical Sy nthesis. 展开更多

Illicit and pharmaceutical drugs are considered to be emerging contaminants of concern,and much research effort has gone into assessing their occurrence in wastewater.However,little information exists on their presence in treated sludge or biosolids.In this study,we examined sludge and biosolids from a large metropolitan wastewater treatment plant(WWTP)in Australia to determine the occurrence of five drugs of abuse,including benzoylecgonine as indicator of cocaine consumption,methamphetamine and 3,4-methylenedioxy methamphetamine(MDMA)as representative illicit stimulants,and codeine and morphine as pharmaceuticals with potential environmental risk.The samples were solid-phase extracted and analyzed by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry(LC–MS/MS).Benzoylecgonine and MDMA were present in raw sludge but were notably degraded during solids treatment processes,and were not detected in the dewatered sludge(after treatment)or in biosolids.Methamphetamine,codeine,and morphine were detected in all biosolids samples at mean concentrations of 20–50 lg kg^-1.The presence of these three drugs in biosolids shows that these compounds are relatively stable in the solids and in soil,and can persist in biosolids for at least several years.A simple environmental risk assessment based on estimated risk quotients(RQs)for these compounds indicated that the potential environmental risks associated with the land application of biosolids are very low at typical Australian biosolids application rates. 展开更多

Mucinous cystadenoma of appendix is a rare clinical entity with very few reported cases in the literature.Consensus on optimal surgical management has not been reached.We report the case of a 65-year-old female patient who presented with fistula over the right iliac fossa.Computed tomography(CT)of the abdomen suggested abscess of the parietal wall.Upon exploration,a mass was found to be arising from the tip of the retroperitoneal appendix and the retroperitoneum was studded with mucoid material.Appendectomy was carried out and final histopathology revealed mucinous cystadenoma with no evidence of malignancy.The patient was discharged uneventfully.The unusual presentation of this disease,as retroperitoneal psuedomyxoma without any intraperitoneal pathology,prompted us to report this case. 展开更多

Gunshot Residue(GSR)has been a subject of interest for the forensic fraternity.Numerous analytical contributions towards the GSR analysis have been reported.Sensitivity,portability,cost-effectiveness,speed,etc.are such factors of electrochemical methods that have attracted the researchers across the globe to test the applicability of these as a potential analytical tool for forensic evaluation of GSR.With the development of scientific technology,efforts have been made towards the handheld device for the on-field analysis of GSR.Recently,chemometric treatment of data generated from the electrochemical analysis of GSR has offered more effective approach.It makes the analysis more conclusive and minimizes the chances of false-positive detection.It will be very fruitful to anticipate the analytical potential of electrochemical tools for GSR analysis.This article reviews the research progress towards the development of electrochemical sensor for GSR detection reported during 2013-2020 along with challenges and future perspectives. 展开更多

In this article, the solutions to a nonhomogeneous Burgers equation subject to bounded and compactly supported initial profiles are constructed. In an interesting study, Kloosterziel (Journal of Engineering Mathematics 24, 213-236 (1990)) represented a solution to an initial value problem (IVP) for the heat equation, with an initial data in a class of rapidly decaying functions, as a series of self-similar solutions to the heat equation. This approach quickly revealed the large time behaviour for the solution to the IVP. Inspired by Kloosterziel's approach, the solution to the nonhomogeneous Burgers equation is expressed in terms of the self-similar solutions to the heat equation. The large time behaviour of the solutions to the nonhomogeneous Burgers equation is obtained. 展开更多

In cloud computing,a lot of challenges like the server failures,loss of confidentiality,improper workloads,etc.are still bounding the efficiency of cloud systems in real-world scenarios.For this reason,many research works are being performed to overcome the shortcoming of existing systems.Among them,load balancing seems to be the most critical issue that worsen the performance of the cloud sector,and hence there necessitates the optimal load balancing with optimal task scheduling.With the intention of accomplishing optimal load balancing by effectual task deployment,this paper plans to develop an advanced load balancing model with the assistance acquired from the metaheuristic algorithms.Usually,handling of tasks in cloud system is an NP-hard problem and moreover,nonpreemptive independent tasks are crucial in cloud computing.This paper goes with the introduction of a new optimal load balancing model by considering three major objectives:minimum makespan,priority,and load balancing,respectively.Moreover,a new single-objective function is also defined that incorporates all the three objectives mentioned above.Furthermore,the deployment of tasks must be optimal and for this a new hybrid optimization algorithm referred as Firefly Movement insistedWOA(FM-WOA)is introduced.This FM-WOA is the conceptual amalgamation of standard Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA)and Firefly(FF)algorithm.Finally,the performances of the proposed FM-WOA model is compared over the conventional models with the intention of proving its efficiency in terms of makespan,task completion(priority),and degree of imbalance as well. 展开更多

目的构建粘蛋白1(MUCl)基因的反义肽核酸(PNA),观察对胃癌细胞MKN一45侵袭能力的影响,并探讨其机制。方法根据MUC1基因的序列设计反义PNA序列,经脂质体介导转染胃癌细胞MKN45,并设空载体组(随机对照)和空白对照组(阴性对照... 目的构建粘蛋白1(MUCl)基因的反义肽核酸(PNA),观察对胃癌细胞MKN一45侵袭能力的影响,并探讨其机制。方法根据MUC1基因的序列设计反义PNA序列,经脂质体介导转染胃癌细胞MKN45,并设空载体组(随机对照)和空白对照组(阴性对照)运用荧光定量PCR检测MUC1的表达,并观察E-粘附素的表达变化;TransWell小室实验观察对胃癌细胞侵袭力的影响。结果构建的3个MUCl基因的反义PNA均能有效抑制该基因表达,其表达水平分别为0.62±0.18,0.49±0.12和0.60土0.21,显著低于阴性对照组(1.18±0.03,P〈0.01)。阴性对照组与随机对照组之间差异无统计学意义(1.00±0.04,P=0.657)。取抑制效率最高的PNA进行后续研究转染MUClPNA后的胃癌细胞侵袭能力显著下降(t=2.09,P=0.005),并伴有E-粘附素基因及蛋白的表达上调。结论胃癌细胞MKN-45中MUCl基因与E_粘附素的表达存在负相关,抑制MUCI基因的表达能显著抑制肿瘤细胞的侵袭能力。 展开更多

Isospin dependent properties of the isotopic chains of Scandium and Titanium nuclei within the relativistic mean-field formalism

Density-dependent nuclear symmetry energy is directly related to iso spin asymmetry for finite and infinite nuclear systems.It is critical to determine the coefficients of symmetry energy and their related observables because they hold great importance in different areas of nuclear physics,such as the analysis of the structure of ground state exotic nuclei and neutron star studies.The ground state bulk properties of Scandium(Z=21) and Titanium(Z=22) nuclei are calculated,such as their nuclear binding energy(B.E.),quadrupole deformation(β_2),two-neutron separation energy(S_(2 n)),differential variation in the two-neutron separation energy(dS_(2 n)),and root-mean-square charge radius(r_(ch)).The iso spin properties,namely the coefficient of nuclear symmetry energy and its components,such as the surface and volume symmetry energy of a finite isotopic chain,from the corresponding quantities of infinite nuclear matter,are also estimated.Finally,we correlate the neutron-skin thickness with the coefficient of symmetry energy and the related observables corresponding to the isotopic chains of these nuclei.The coherent density fluctuation model(CDFM) is used to estimate the iso spin-dependent properties of finite nuclei,such as symmetry energy,surface symmetry energy,and volume symmetry energy,from their corresponding component in infinite nuclear matter.The relativistic mean-field(RMF) formalism with non-linear NL3 and relativistic-Hartree-Bogoliubov theory with density-dependent DD-ME2 interaction parameters are employed in the analysis.The weight function |F(x)|^(2) is estimated using the total density of each nucleus,which in turn is used with the nuclear matter quantities to obtain the effective symmetry energy and its components in finite nuclei.We calculate the ground state bulk properties,such as nuclear binding energy,quadrupole deformation,two-neutron separation energy,differential variation in the two-neutron separation energy,and root-mean-square charge radius,for the Sc-and Ti-isotopic chains using the non-l 展开更多

Phytosomes(phytophospholipid complex) are dosage forms that have recently been introduced to increase the stability and therapeutic effect of herbal medicine. Currently, bioactive herbs and the phytochemicals they contain are considered to be the best remedies for chronic diseases. One promising approach to increase the efficacy of plant-based therapies is to improve the stability and bioavailability of their bio-active ingredients. Phytosomes employ phospholipids as their active ingredients, and use their amphiphilic properties to solubilize and protect herbal extracts. The unique properties of phospholipids in drug delivery and their use in herbal medicines to improve bioavailability results in significantly enhanced health benefits. The introduction of phytosome nanotechnology can alter and revolutionize the current state of drug delivery. The goal of this review is to explain the application of phytosomes, their future prospects in drug delivery, and their advantages over conventional formulations. 展开更多

Groundwater accounts for about half of the water use for irrigation in India.The fluctuation pattern of the groundwater level is examined by observing rainfall replenishment and monitoring wells.The southern part of Rajasthan has experienced abrupt changes in rainfall and has been highly dependent on groundwater over decades.This study presents the impact of over-dependence on groundwater usage for irrigation and other purposes,spatially and temporally.Hence,the objective of this study is to examine the groundwater level trend by using statistical analysis and geospatial technique.Rainfall factor was also studied in groundwater level fluctuation during 2009-2019.To analyze the influence of each well during recharge or withdrawal of groundwater,thiessien polygonswere generated from them.In the Jakham River basin,75 wells have been identified for water level trend study using the Mann-Kendall statistical test.The statistics of trend analysis show that 15%wells are experiencing water level decline in pre-monsoon,while very low percentage of wells have such trend during post-monsoon season.The average rate of water level decline is 0.245 m/a in pre-monsoon and 0.05 m/a in post-monsoon.The aquifer recharge potential is also decreasing by year.it is expected that such type of studies will help the policy makers to adopt advanced management practices to ensure sustainable groundwater resource management. 展开更多

This paper is concerned with the flow of two immiscible fluids through a porous horizontal channel. The fluid in the upper region is the micropolar fluid/the Eringen fluid, and the fluid in the lower region is the Newtonian viscous fluid. The flow is driven by a constant pressure gradient. The presence of micropolar fluids introduces additional rotational parameters. Also, the porous material considered in both regions has two different permeabilities. A direct method is used to obtain the analytical solu- tion of the concerned problem. In the present problem, the effects of the couple stress, the micropolarity parameter, the viscosity ratio, and the permeability on the velocity profile and the microrotational velocity are discussed. It is found that all the physical parameters play an important role in controlling the translational velocity profile and the microrotational velocity. In addition, numerical values of the different flow parameters are computed. The effects of the different flow parameters on the flow rate and the wall shear stress are also discussed graphically. 展开更多

The problem of the creeping flow through a spherical droplet with a non-homogenous porous layer in a spherical container has been studied analytically.Darcy’s model for the flow inside the porous annular region and the Stokes equation for the flow inside the spherical cavity and container are used to analyze the flow.The drag force is exerted on the porous spherical particles enclosing a cavity,and the hydrodynamic permeability of the spherical droplet with a non-homogeneous porous layer is calculated.Emphasis is placed on the spatially varying permeability of a porous medium,which is not covered in all the previous works related to spherical containers.The variation of hydrodynamic permeability and the wall effect with respect to various flow parameters are presented and discussed graphically.The streamlines are presented to discuss the kinematics of the flow.Some previous results for hydrodynamic permeability and drag forces have been verified as special limiting cases. 展开更多

We report the growth of high quality Fe excess and Co doped,FeTxSe single crystals in nominal ratio via slow cooling method of high temperature solution growth technique and,their structural and physical properties through the X‐ray diffraction,Raman spectroscopy,magnetic and transports measurements.Selective area electron diffraction(SAED)patterns and X‐ray diffraction of cleavage piece confirm the growth of single crystals in(h0l)orientations.Observations of phonon vibration modes(A_(1g) and B_(1g))in Raman spectroscopy measurements mark the qualitative analysis of these single crystals.Low temperature magnetic and electrical transport studies manifest the superconducting nature of both single crystals. 展开更多

This study examined the freshness of minimally processed pomegranate arils(MPPAs)under refrigeration conditions(5±1◦C)stored in a polypropylene(PP)container sealed with PP nanocomposite multi-layered film(PP-NMF).The freshness indicator was fabricated using cellulose acetate coated with a combination of colorimetric pH dyes,which included bromocresol green(BCG),bromothymol blue(BTB)and methyl red(MR)in a ratio of 6:9:15.The fabricated indicator labels were attached inside the package headspace and observed an increase in CO_(2)(0.1±0.01 to 0.9±0.03%v/v)and a decrease in O_(2)(19.6±0.01 to 18.8±0.03%v/v)during storage(0-18 days).Color change of indicator labels was mainly caused by headspace concentrations that changed from dark to colorless for fresh and spoiled pomegranate arils.The PP-NMF used in MPPAs has high barrier properties,extending its shelf life in the refrigerator to over 15 days.The pomegranate arils stored for different periods of time showed significant changes in their physicochemical parameters.Over storage days,aerobic mesophilic bacteria(AMB)and yeast and mold count(YMC)increased to 4.90±0.20 and 4.50±0.20 log CFU g1.An indicator developed for monitoring pomegranate arils stored in the refrigerator can detect freshness efficiently. 展开更多

The aim of this study was to prepare hydrogel disc implants containing cisplatin from hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA)and methyl methacrylate(MMA).To control drug release,the monomers were cross-linked with ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate(EGDMA).Implants were characterized by FTIR,DSC and SEM and evaluated for drug content,swelling,tensile strength,in vitro and in vivo drug release,in vitro and in vivo biodegradation of the polymer and histopathological studies.The in vitro results showed that increasing the concentration of either MMA or EGDMA decreased drug release and prolonged the implant life.Histopathological studies showed that the implants were histocompatible with surrounding tissue.Stability studies on the optimized formulation showed it was stable over 90 days at 25±3℃.The implants can be used to achieve controlled release of drug and attain effective treatment with reduced side effects. 展开更多

Using astrometric techniques developed by Anderson et al., we determine proper motions (PMs) in the ~ 14.60 × 16.53 arcmin^2 area of the kinematically "thick-disk" globular cluster M 12. The cluster's proximity and sparse nature makes it a suitable target for ground-based telescopes. Archive images with time gap of ~ 11.1 years were observed with the wide-field imager (WFI) mosaic cam-era mounted on the ESO 2.2m telescope. The median value of PM error in both components is 0.7masyr^-1 for the stars having V ≤ 20mag. PMs are used to determine membership probabil-ities and to separate field stars from the cluster sample. In electronic form, a membership catalog of 3725 stars with precise coordinates, PMs and BVRI photometry is being provided. One of the possible applications of the catalog is demonstrated by gathering the membership information of the variable stars, blue stragglers and X-ray sources reported earlier in the cluster's region. 展开更多

Lead free polycrystalline ceramics (K0.5Na0.5)Nb(1-x)MoxO3 (x = 0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 and 0.08) have been synthesized via solid state reaction method. The formation of single phase perovskite structure up to 6 mol% of Mo^6+ has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction pattern. Impedance spectroscopy reveals that bulk resistance decreases with increasing temperature, which indicates negative temperature coefficient of resistance (NTCR) behaviour of the compounds. The diffuse reflectance spectroscopy results indicate a red shift of the band gap energy of K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (KNN, from 4.28 to 3.61 eV) with increasing Mo^6+ concentration due to structural modification. The photoluminescence spectra of doped samples are composed of two emission bands at room temperature. One emission band is near band edge ultraviolet (UV) emission (354 nm) and other is visible emission band (-397 nm) which may explore the possibility of these ceramics to be used in optical device applications. 展开更多
