Firstly, some experimental phenomena of neuronal irregular firing patterns, especially chaotic and stochastic firing patterns, are presented, and practical nonlinear time analysis methods are introduced to distinguish deterministic and stochastic mechanism in time series. Secondly, the dynamics of electrical firing activities in a single neuron is concerned, namely, fast-slow dynamics analysis for classification and mechanism of various bursting patterns, one- or two-parameter bifurcation analysis for transitions of firing patterns, and stochastic dynamics of firing activities (stochastic and coherence resonances, integer multiple and other firing patterns induced by noise, etc.). Thirdly, different types of synchronization of coupled neurons with electrical and chemical synapses are discussed. As noise and time delay are inevitable in nervous systems, it is found that noise and time delay may induce or enhance synchronization and change firing patterns of coupled neurons. Noise-induced resonance and spatiotemporal patterns in coupled neuronal networks are also demonstrated. Finally, some prospects are presented for future research. In consequence, the idea and methods of nonlinear dynamics are of great significance in exploration of dynamic processes and physiological functions of nervous systems.展开更多

The existence and stability of the equilibrium points are analyzed. It is found that there are two kinds of non-smooth fold bifurcations. The existence of periodic orbits is also proved to show the occurrence of non-smooth Hopf bifurcations. As a composite of non-smooth fold and Hopf bifurcations, the multiple crossing bifurcation is studied by the generalized Jacobian matrix. Some interesting phenomena which cannot occur in smooth bifurcations are also considered.展开更多

The stability and boundary equilibrium bifurcations for a modified Chua's circuit system with the smooth degree of 3 are studied. The parametric areas of stability are specified in detail. It is found that the bifurcation graphs of the su- percritical and irregular pitchfork bifurcations are similar to those of the piecewise-smooth continuous (PWSC) systems caused by piecewise smoothness. However, the bifurcation graph of the supercritical Hopf bifurcation is similar to those of smooth systems. There- fore, the boundary equilibrium bifurcations of the non-smooth systems with the smooth degree of 3 should receive more attention due to their special features.展开更多

The whole transfer trajectory is composed of four stages: 1) from the Earth parking orbit to the Lyapunov orbit around Lagrange point L2 in the Sun-Earth system;2) from the Lyapunov orbit around L2 to the Lyapunov orbit around L1 in the Sun-Mars system;3) from the Lyapunov orbit around L1 in the Sun-Mars system to the large elliptical orbit around Mars;and 4) from the large elliptical orbit around Mars to the near-Mars parking orbit. In the first three stages, the circular restricted three-body problem is considered, and the trajectory is designed by using invariant manifolds and the differential correction method. The simulation results show that the transfer trajectory designed by means of the invariant manifolds of the Lyapunov orbit costs lower energy and shorter time of flight than that designed by means of the invariant manifold of the Halo orbit. In the fourth stage, the two-body problem is considered, and the aerobraking method is applied. A comparative performance analysis of static and rotating atmospheric models is carried out by using the details of duration, aerodynamic loading of the Mars vehicle, and other orbital parameters. It is shown that, on the low periareon where the influence of the atmospheric density increases, the changes of orbit parameters between rotating and static atmospheric environments are in large difference, such as orbital semimajor axis, orbital eccentricity, and so on. The influence of Martian rotating atmospheric environment should be considered.展开更多
