The carding machine’s licker-in and flat speeds are crucial operational factors that have a big influence on the finished goods’ quality. The purpose of this study is to examine the link between licker-in and flat speeds and how they affect the yarn and carded sliver quality. A thorough experimental examination on a carding machine was carried out to accomplish this. The carded sliver and yarn produced after experimenting with different licker-in and flat speed combinations were assessed for important quality factors including evenness, strength, and flaws. To account for changes in material qualities and machine settings, the study also took into consideration the impact of various fiber kinds and processing circumstances. The findings of the investigation showed a direct relationship between the quality of the carded sliver and yarn and the licker-in and flat speeds. Within a limited range, greater licker-in speeds were shown to increase carding efficiency and decrease fiber tangling. On the other hand, extremely high speeds led to more fiber breakage and neps. The weavers were the finest with weaving skills. Higher yarn count yarns were used to weave the jamdani saree. In course of time at present manmade fibres are also used to produce jamdani saree. The use of filament yarn may have eased the manufacturing difficulties, but the jamdani saree is missing its originality without 100% cotton. In this project, random jamdani saree sample was collected to identify the fibre composition. Samples of filament were also collected from the manufacturer and tested. It was evident that instead of cotton yarn in warp and weft silk and polyester filament yarn were used.展开更多

Patients and Methods: This is a 4 years retrospective study involving patients who underwent abdominoplasty surgery between the period of July 2015 and June 2019. The incidence of haematoma formation was assessed in relation to history of previous bariatric surgery in these patients. Results: 164 patients met the inclusion criteria of the study;46 of them were males and 118 were females. The mean age of the patients included in the study was 38.6 (21 - 60 years). The mean BMI was 27 kg/m2 (21.4 - 34.7 Kg/m2). The mean hospital stay was 6.6 days (4 - 19 days). 107 patients had history of previous bariatric surgery performed and 57 had not. 21 patients developed haematoma (12.8%). 16 of the patients who had haematoma had previous bariatric surgery done (15% of post bariatric surgery cases) while 5 patients developed haematoma with no history of previous bariatric surgery (8.8%). Sixteen male patients out of the 46 male patients in the study developed postoperative haematoma (34.8% of the male patients) while only 5 of the 118 female patients developed postoperative haematoma (4.2% of the female patients) which shows a significant difference in haematoma formation when comparing males to females in general (p Conclusion: Our study shows that the incidence of post abdominoplasty haematoma formation is significantly higher in male patients who had bariatric surgery before when compared to those who had not (p < 0.05). The incidence was higher in males when compared to females (p < 0.001) indicating that males with previous history of bariatric surgery have the highest chance of developing haematoma formation. Combining liposuction of the lower flanks, plication of the recti muscles or both to the abdominoplasty procedure did not result significantly in an increased risk of haematoma formation.展开更多

There was a rise in acute hepatitis E virus (HEV) in Bangladesh after the 2004 floods. At that time, most of the country was under water for more than a month, leading to sewage contamination of the water supply. The aim of this study was to investigate the etiology of FHF in Bangladesh. METHODS: In this retrospective study, 23 patients with FHF who presented with severe impairment of hepato- cellular function (i.e. encephalopathy, coagulopathy and jaundice) within 6 months of onset of symptoms were included. There were 17 men and 6 women, aged from 18 to 32 years. Four of the women were pregnant. Patients were tested for markers for common hepatotrophic viruses. A relevant history was taken and the Patient Record Book of the Unit was reviewed. RESULTS: 56.52% patients (13/23) had HEV infection, and all were anti-HEV IgM-positive tested by ELISA. HBV infection was detected in 34.78% patients (8/23), all of whom were tested positive for either HBsAg or anti-HBs IgM by ELISA. 8.7% patients (2/23) had a positive history for intake of alcohol and/or drugs. CONCLUSIONS: Acute HEV infection is the leading cause of FHF in Bangladesh. Sewage contamination of the water supply following floods contributes to a higher incidence of HEV infection. HBV infection is also important.展开更多

Cessation of smoking during the perioperative period is required before embarking on such a procedure.
文摘Jamdani weaving is one of the oldest heredities of Bangladesh. From the beginning 100% cotton yarn was used to produce high quality jamdani saree. It was evident that instead of cotton yarn in warp and weft silk and polyester filament yarn were used.
文摘Objective: This study aims at assessing the incidence of haematoma formation in abdominoplasty cases who had previous bariatric surgery and in those who did not have bariatric surgery before. Combining liposuction of the lower flanks, plication of the recti muscles or both to the abdominoplasty procedure did not result significantly in an increased risk of haematoma formation.
文摘Spinning has a significant influence on all textile processes. Combinations of all the capital equipment display the process’ critical condition. By transforming unprocessed fibers into carded sliver and yarn, the carding machine serves a critical role in the textile industry. Higher flat speeds, on the other hand, helped to enhance fiber alignment, which increased the evenness and strength of the carded sliver and yarn. Additionally, it was discovered that the ideal blend of licker-in and flat rates varied based on the fiber type and processing circumstances. When being carded, various fibers displayed distinctive behaviors that necessitated adjusting the operating settings in order to provide the necessary quality results. The study also determined the crucial speed ratios between the licker-in and flat speeds that reduced fiber breakage and increased the caliber of the finished goods. The results of this study offer useful information for textil
文摘The United States is in the throes of a severe opioid overdose epidemic, primarily fueled by the pervasive use of fentanyl and the emerging threat of xylazine,a veterinary sedative often mixed with fentanyl. The high potency and long duration of fentanyl is compounded by the added risks from xylazine, heightening the lethal danger faced by opioid users.Measures such as enhanced surveillance, public awareness campaigns, and the distribution of fentanylxylazine test kits, and naloxone have been undertaken to mitigate this crisis.Fentanyl-related overdose deaths persist despite these efforts, partly due to inconsistent policies across states and resistance towards adopting harm reduction strategies.A multifaceted approach is imperative in effectively combating the opioid overdose epidemic. This approach should include expansion of treatment access, broadening the availability of medications for opioid use disorder, implementation of harm reduction strategies, and enaction of legislative reforms and diminishing stigma associated with opioid use disorder.

文摘BACKGROUND: Fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) is not uncommon in our clinical practice in Bangladesh. HBV infection is also important.

文摘Crises in the past have caused devastating,long-lasting impacts on the global economy. The after-effects always bring some dynamic and rigorous challenges for businesses and governments.Such challenges have always been a point of discussion for scholars. The recent COVID-19 pandemic emaciated the global economy, leaving everyone mired in uncertainty, fear, and psychological impairments. One of the headwind features utilized by consumers during pandemic was panic buying(PB),which must be explored in various contexts for policymakers and practitioners. To address this gap, this study deployed a moderated mediation mechanism, integrating the health belief model(HBM)and competitive arousal theory(CAT)to excavate the notions underlying PB with the intrusion of evolved real-time psychological disorders:intolerance of uncertainty(IU)and cyberchondria(CYC).The study was conducted as a natural experiment in a South Asian developing economy using online surveys. It found that health beliefs—perceived severity(PSV)and perceived susceptibility(PSC)—positively impact perceived arousal(PA),which causes PB,and that PA has a sturdy mediator role. Moreover,in the relationship between health beliefs and arousal, the different psychological disorders were found to have significant moderating roles The study findings can help mitigate risk uncertainties and panic situations and thus contribute to consumers’wellbeing.

文摘Biological invasions by alien and range-expanding native plant species can suppress native plants through allelopathy. However, the homeland security hypothesis suggests that some native plants can resist invasion by producing allelopathic compounds that inhibit the growth of invasive plants. Most research has focused on allelopathic interactions between individual native and invasive plant species, with less emphasis on how allelopathy helps entire native communities resist invasions.Additionally, limited knowledge exists about allelopathic interactions between range-expanding native species and recipient native communities, and their influence on invasion success. To bridge this knowledge gap,we conducted two greenhouse competition experiments to test reciprocal allelopathic effects between a native woody range-expanding species,Betula fruticosa, and a community of four native herbaceous species(Sanguisorba officinalis,Gentiana manshurica,Sium suave and Deyeuxia angustifolia)in China. We assessed whether B.fruticosa and the native community differed in their competitive effects and responses, and whether these were influenced by activated carbon, which neutralizes allelochemicals in the soil.Activated carbon reduced the suppressive effects of the native community on the above-ground biomass of B.fruticosa, which indicates that the native community exerted a strong allelopathic effect on B.fruticosa.In contrast, activated carbon only marginally enhanced the suppressive effects of B.fruticosa on the native community, which indicates that allelopathy is not the primary mechanism by which B.fruticosa exerts its suppression.Overall, these findings support the homeland security hypothesis and suggest that biotic resistance from the native herbaceous community may limit the invasion success of the woody range-expander B.fruticosa.

文摘This study investigates the values of pH,total dissolved solids(TDS),elevation, oxidative reduction potential(ORP),temperature, and depth, while the concentrations of Br,and potentially harmful metals(PHMs)such as Cr,Ni,Cd,Mn,Cu,Pb,Co,Zn,and Fe in the groundwater samples. Moreover, geographic information system(GIS),XLSTAT,and IBM SPSS Statistics 20 software were used for spatial distribution modeling, principal component analysis(PCA),cluster analysis(CA),and Quantile-Quantile(Q-Q)plotting to determine groundwater pollution sources, similarity index, and normal distribution reference line for the selected parameters. The mean values of pH,TDS,elevation,ORP,temperature, depth, and Br were 7.2,322 mg/L,364 m,188 mV,29.6℃,70 m,0.20 mg/L,and PHMs like Cr,Ni,Cd,Mn,Cu,Pb,Co,Zn,and Fe were 0.38,0.26,0.08,0.27,0.36,0.22,0.04,0.43 and 0.86 mg/L,respectively.PHMs including Cr(89%),Cd(43%),Mn(23%),Pb(79%),Co(20%),and Fe(91%)exceeded the guideline values set by the world health organization(WHO).The significant R^(2)values of PCA for selected parameters were also determined(0.62,0.67,0.78,0.73,0.60,0.87,-0.50,0.69,0.70,0.74,-0.50,0.70,0.67,0.79,0.59,and-0.55,respectively).PCA revealed three geochemical processes such as geogenic, anthropogenic, and reducing conditions. The mineral phases of Cd(OH)_(2),Fe(OH)_(3),FeOOH,Mn_(3)O_(4),Fe_(2)O_(3),MnOOH,Pb(OH)_(2),Mn(OH)_(2),MnO_(2),and Zn(OH)_(2)(-3.7,3.75,9.7,-5.8,8.9,-3.6,2.2,-4.6,-7.7,-0.9,and 0.003,respectively)showed super-saturation and under-saturation conditions.Health risk assessment(HRA)values for PHMs were also calculated and the values of hazard quotient(HQ),and hazard indices(HI)for the entire study area were increased in the following order:Cd>Ni>Cu>Pb>Mn>Zn>Cr.Relatively higher HQ and HI values of Ni,Cd,Pb,and Cu were greater than one showing unsuitability of groundwater for domestic, agriculture, and drinking purposes. The long-term ingestion of groundwater could also cause severe health concerns such as kidney, brain dysfunction, liver, stomach problems, and even cancer.
文摘The utilization of vortex generators to increase heat transfer from cylinders installed inside a duct is investigated. In particular,a channel containing eight cylinders with volumetric heat sources is considered for different values of the Reynolds number. The effective possibility to use vortex generators with different sizes to increase heat transfer and, consequently, reduce the surface temperature of the cylinders is examined. Also, the amount of pressure drop inside the channel due to the presence of vortex generators is considered and compared with the cases without vortex generators. The results show that although the addition of generators increases the pressure drop,it strongly contributes to increase the heat transfer coefficient inside the duct(up to 80–90%).
文摘Objective:To determine the association of the three umbilical cord blood parameters:umbilical cord pH,base deficit, and lactate levels, with neonatal outcomes. Methods:This prospective observational study was conducted from April 2021 to September 2022 with 100 term and late preterm(>35 weeks)neonates whose umbilical cord blood pH was<7.10,Apgar score was<7 at 1 min,and required positive pressure ventilation.Umbilical cord blood was assessed for pH,base deficit, and blood lactate levels. The neonatal outcomes of neonatal intensive care unit admission,Apgar score at 1 min,and Apgar score at 5 min were assessed. Results:The mean of umbilical cord blood pH was 7.04±0.07,mean base deficit was(−9.3±3.9)mmol/L,and mean lactate levels were(6.51±2.29)mmol/L.Neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)admission was needed in 78(78%)neonates.The mean NICU stay length was(2.4±2.2)days ranging from 0 to 12 days with a median of 2 days.Univariate analysis showed no significant difference in cord blood pH(P=0.736)and base deficit(P=0.393)between neonates without NICU admission and neonates who required NICU admission, but lactate level was significantly higher in neonates who required NICU admission(P<0.001).There was no significant difference in cord blood pH(P=0.400)and base deficit(P>0.999)between neonates with Apgar scores 4-7 at 1 min and neonates with Apgar scores<4,but lactate level was significantly higher in neonates with Apgar scores<4 at 1 min(P<0.001).Conclusions:Umbilical cord blood pH,base deficit, and lactate levels are useful novel markers showing a significant correlation with neonatal intensive care unit admission and adverse neonatal morbidities among hypoxic newborns.Overall, lactate was a better predictor of adverse neonatal outcomes as compared to umbilical cord blood pH and base deficit.

文摘An effective communication application necessitates the cancellation of Impulsive Noise(IN)from Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM),which is widely used for wireless applications due to its higher data rate and greater spectral efficiency. The OFDM system is typically corrupted by Impulsive Noise, which is an unwanted short-duration pulse with random amplitude and duration.Impulsive noise is created by humans and has non-Gaussian characteristics, causing problems in communication systems such as high capacity loss and poor error rate performance.Several techniques have been introduced in the literature to solve this type of problem, but they still have many issues that affect the performance of the presented methods. As a result, developing a new hybridization-based method is critical for accurate method performance. In this paper,we present a hybrid of a state space adaptive filter and an information coding technique for cancelling impulsive noise from OFDM.The proposed method is also compared to Least Mean Square(LMS),Normalized Least Mean Square(NLMS),and Recursive Least Square(RLS)adaptive filters. It has also been tested using the binary phase-shift keyed(BPSK),four quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM),sixteen QAM,and thirty-two QAM modulation techniques.Bit error Rate(BER)simulations are used to evaluate system performance, and improved performance is obtained.Furthermore, the proposed method is more effective than recent methods.
