Introduction:Acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau(ACH)is an uncommon chronic cutaneous disorder.Up to date,its treatment is still difficult and frustrating although various topical and systemic agents alone or in diff...Introduction:Acrodermatitis continua of Hallopeau(ACH)is an uncommon chronic cutaneous disorder.Up to date,its treatment is still difficult and frustrating although various topical and systemic agents alone or in different combinations have been tried with variable benefits.Herein,we report two cases of ACH successfully treated with calcipotriol/betamethasone ointment.Case presentation:Two cases of ACH were characterized by thumb involvement alone and showed an excellent response to calcipotriol/betamethasone ointment(1 g:calcipotriol 50µg and betamethasone 0.5 mg).Discussion:Treatment of ACH is challenging for physicians.Multiple systemic therapies and topical drugs have been applied,however,no universally effective treatment regimen has yet been established for long-lasting remission.Combination of calcipotriol and betamethasone is more effective in treating psoriasis than the individual components alone,and the current 2 cases with ACH were reported to be treated successfully by the calcipotriol/betamethasone ointment.Conclusion:Topical calcipotriol/betamethasone compound is an optional agent for the treatment of ACH with a novel effect.展开更多
Auxin response factors (ARFs), a family of transcription factors, have been discovered recently. The ARFs bind specifically to the auxin response elements (AuxREs) within promoters of primary auxin responsive gene...Auxin response factors (ARFs), a family of transcription factors, have been discovered recently. The ARFs bind specifically to the auxin response elements (AuxREs) within promoters of primary auxin responsive genes and function as activators or repressors. The ARFs contain three domains, namely a conserved Nterminal DNA-binding domain, a non-conserved middle region, and a conserved C-termlnal dlmerlzatlon domaln. The ARFs can form a protein complex with auxin/indoleacetic acid through homodimerization or heterodlmerization. The particular protein-protein interaction may play a key role in moduiating the expression of early auxin responsive genes. The identification of ARF mutations in Arabidopsis helps to demonstrate/dissect the function of ARFs in the normal growth and development of plants. Phylogenetic analysis also reveals some interesting protein evolution points in the ARF family.展开更多
The Calvin Benson cycle(CBC)consists of three critical processes,including fixation of CO_(2) by Rubisco,reduction of 3-phosphoglycerate(3PGA)to triose phosphate(triose-P)with NADPH and ATP generated by the light reac...The Calvin Benson cycle(CBC)consists of three critical processes,including fixation of CO_(2) by Rubisco,reduction of 3-phosphoglycerate(3PGA)to triose phosphate(triose-P)with NADPH and ATP generated by the light reactions,and regeneration of ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate(RuBP)from triose-P.The activ-ities of photosynthesis-related proteins,mainly from the CBC,were found more significantly affected and regulated in plants challenged with high temperature stress,incuding Rubisco,Rubisco activase(RCA) and the enzymes involved in RuBP regeneration,such as sedoheptulose-1,7-bisphosphatase(SBPase).Over the past years,the regulatory mechanism of CBC,especially for redox-regulation,has attracted major interest,because balancing flux at the various enzymatic reactions and maintaining metabolite levels in a range are of critical importance for the optimal operation of CBC under high temperature stress,providing insights into the genetic manipulation of photosynthesis.Here,we summarize recent progress regarding the identification of various layers of regulation point to the key enzymes of CBC for acclimation to environmental temperature changes along with open questions are also discussed.展开更多
Background: Several studies concerning the association between glutathione S-transferase P1 (GSTP1) Ilel05Val polymorphism and male infertility risk have reported controversial findings. The present study was aimed...Background: Several studies concerning the association between glutathione S-transferase P1 (GSTP1) Ilel05Val polymorphism and male infertility risk have reported controversial findings. The present study was aimed to explore this association using a recta-analysis. Methods: The PubMed, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang databases were searched. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (C/s) were calculated to estimate the strength of the association. Results: A total of 3282 cases and 3268 controls in nine case-control studies were included. There was no significant association between GSTP1 llel05Val polymorphism and male infertility in the overall population, but significant associations were lbund under the dominant (OR = 1.23, 95% CI = 1.04-1.46, F = 32.2%) and heterozygote (OR = 1.29, 95% C1 - 1.08-1.53, F = 26.8%) models after excluding studies for which the data did not satisfy Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE). Similarly, subgroup analyses revealed no significant association in Asians or Chinese population although a significant association was apparent among Chinese population in studies with HWE under the heterozygote model (OR = 1.25, 95% CI = 1.03-1.52, F = 44.1%). Significant heterogeneity could be observed in some genetic models, but this heterogeneity was not significant when stratified by HWE. No evidence for publication bias was found. Conclusions: The GS-FP1 lle105Val polymorphism might not be associated with male infertility risk, and thus additional well-designed studies with larger sample size are warranted.展开更多
