Seed treatment with endophytic fungi has been regarded as an effective method for plant parasitic nematode control.Endophytic fungi from cucumber seedlings were isolated and screened for their potential to be used as ...Seed treatment with endophytic fungi has been regarded as an effective method for plant parasitic nematode control.Endophytic fungi from cucumber seedlings were isolated and screened for their potential to be used as seed treatment agents against Meloidogyne incognita.Among the 294 isolates screened,23 significantly reduced galls formed by M.incognita in greenhouse test.The 10 most effective isolates were Fusarium(5),Trichoderma(1),Chaetomium(1),Acremonium(1),Paecilomyces(1),and Phyllosticta(1) .Their control efficacies were repeatedly tested and their colonizations as well as in vitro activity against M.incognita were studied.They reduced the number of galls by 24.0%-58.4%in the first screening and 15.6%-44.3%in the repeated test,respectively.Phyllosticta Ph511 and Chaetomium Ch1001 had high colonizations on both the roots and the aboveground parts of cucumber seedlings.Fusarium isolates had colonization preference on the roots,their root colonizations ranging from 20.1%to 47.3%of the total root area.Trichoderma Tr882,Paecilomyces Pa972,and Acremonium Ac985 had low colonizations on both the roots and the aboveground parts.Acremonium Ac985,Chaetomium Ch1001,Paecilomyces Pa972,and Phyllosticta Ph511 produced compounds affecting motility of the second stage juveniles of M.incognita.Based on these results,Chae-tomium Ch1001 was considered to have the highest potential as a seed treatment agent for M.incognita biocontrol.展开更多
Objective:This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the epidemiology of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions related to COVID-19 in China.Methods:This study was conducted by 45 tertiary Grade-A hospitals in China....Objective:This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the epidemiology of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions related to COVID-19 in China.Methods:This study was conducted by 45 tertiary Grade-A hospitals in China.Online and offline questionnaire data were obtained from patients infected with COVID-19 between December 28,2022,and February 21,2023.The collected information included basic demographics,medical history,smoking and drinking history,vaccination history,changes in olfactory and gustatory functions before and after infection,and other postinfection symptoms,as well as the duration and improvement status of olfactory and gustatory disorders.Results:Complete questionnaires were obtained from 35,566 subjects.The overall incidence of olfactory and taste dysfunction was 67.75%.Being female or being a cigarette smoker increased the likelihood of developing olfactory and taste dysfunction.Having received four doses of the vaccine or having good oral health or being a alcohol drinker decreased the risk of such dysfunction.Before infection,the average olfactory and taste VAS scores were 8.41 and 8.51,respectively;after infection,they decreased to 3.69 and 4.29 and recovered to 5.83 and 6.55 by the time of the survey.The median duration of dysosmia and dysgeusia was 15 and 12 days,respectively,with 0.5%of patients having symptoms lasting for more than 28 days.The overall self-reported improvement rate was 59.16%.Recovery was higher in males,never smokers,those who received two or three vaccine doses,and those that had never experienced dental health issues,or chronic accompanying symptoms.Conclusions:The incidence of dysosmia and dysgeusia following infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus is high in China.Incidence and prognosis are influenced by several factors,including sex,SARS-CoV-2 vaccination,history of head-facial trauma,nasal and oral health status,smoking and drinking history,and the persistence of accompanying symptoms.展开更多
Developing biomimetic soft materials that display stimuli responsiveness using solely inorganic materials has been regarded as a challenge owing to that such materials?properties typically vary from those of living or...Developing biomimetic soft materials that display stimuli responsiveness using solely inorganic materials has been regarded as a challenge owing to that such materials?properties typically vary from those of living organisms.Traditionally,biomimetic soft materials have been developed using organic materials or inorganic materials modified with organic small molecules.In this study,we prepared cerium phosphate nanofibers(CePO_(4)NFs)by using inorganic agents only without further modification.The CePO_(4)NFs demonstrate sol-ge switching properties in response to pH value,allowing them to form a gel under high hydroxide ion(OH^(-))concentrations and turn back into sol under low OH^(-)concentrations.The formation of gel could be ascribed to the physical cross-linking of the nanofibers induced by the attractive electrostatic force of OH^(-)and surface Ce^(3+).As a result,CePO_(4)NFs are able to form a gel when in contac with blood of high pH value for hemostasis.This specific clotting mechanism makes them better candidates for hemostasis of heavy bleeding.展开更多

Reduction-diffusion(R-D) is a cost-effective method. In this study, the R-D process of synthesizing SmFewas analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), X-ray diffraction(XRD), and X-ray fluorescence(XRF). Furthermore, the influences of the tightness of compacted reactants, the compensation amount of SmO,and the particle size of Fe on the formation of SmFewere discussed from the aspects of the three raw materials.The results show that Sm reduced from SmOreacts with Fe particles to form intermetallic compound SmFedirectly in the R-D reaction process of preparing SmFe;the generation of Sm and its migration to the surface of Fe particles control the reaction rate; a proper tightness of compacted reactants is necessary for ensuring the purity of SmFeproduct; pure SmFecan be obtained when the compensation of SmOis 33 % of the stoichiometry; and the sufficiency of the reaction improves with the decrease in the size of Fe powders under the same reaction condition.展开更多
A novel series of main chain liquid crystalline copolyesters with X-shaped two-dimensional mesogenic unit and crown ether cycle of cis-4,4'-bis(4-hydroxyphenylazo) dibenzo-18-crown-6 was prepared via solution conde...A novel series of main chain liquid crystalline copolyesters with X-shaped two-dimensional mesogenic unit and crown ether cycle of cis-4,4'-bis(4-hydroxyphenylazo) dibenzo-18-crown-6 was prepared via solution condensation polymerization from 4,4'-(a;arhexanedioyloxy) dibenzoyl dichloride (MI), 2,5-bis(p-octyloxybenzoyloxy) hydro-quinone (M2) and cis-4,4'-bis(4-hydroxyphenylazo) dibenzo-18-crown-6 (M3). Monomer MI was synthesized by esterification and substitution of adipoyl chloride with p-hydroxybenzoic acid, monomer M2 was synthesized by esterfication and reduction reaction of 2,5-dihydroxybenzoquinone and p-octanoxybenzoyl chloride and monomer M3 was synthesized by diazotization and coupling reaction of cis-diaminodibenzo-18-crown-6 with phenol. The molecular weights of copolyesters are not high, and the intrinsic viscosity [η] of copolyesters ranges from 0.25-0.35. The monomers' structures were identified by using elemental analysis, IR, UV, ^1H-NMR, MS, etc. All the copolyesters are yellowish powders and insoluble in THF and CHC13 at room temperature except cPg. The properties of copolyesters were investigated by using GPC, [η] , DSC, TG, WAXD and POM. It was found that all the copolyesters entered into liquid crystal phase when they were heated to above their melting temperature (Tin). The typical smectic and nematic phase texture can be observed on POM. Their mesophase transition temperature and thermal stability change regularly with varying the content of cis-4,4'-bis(4-hydroxyphenylazo) dibenzo-18-crown-6 unit in the copolyesters.展开更多
