It is acknowledged that combining positron-emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) offers the most reliable noninvasive method for the diagnosis of SPNs. Since Townsend et al1 developed integrated PET/CT in 1999, this technique has increasingly been introduced into clinical practice. To date, nuclear medicine physicians have usually undertaken PET/CT diagnosis, but the question is surfacing as how to make full use of the information of CT image to improve the accuracy of SPN diagnosis. BACKGROUND Immunochemotherapy involving the combination of programmed cell death 1/programmed cell death ligand 1 inhibitors with chemotherapy has advanced the treatment of locally advanced esophageal squamous cell ca...BACKGROUND Immunochemotherapy involving the combination of programmed cell death 1/programmed cell death ligand 1 inhibitors with chemotherapy has advanced the treatment of locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).The use of corticosteroids as pretreatment might reduce immunotherapy efficacy.AIM To investigate the impact of baseline corticosteroid use on neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy(nIC)outcomes in locally advanced ESCC patients.METHODS Patients with locally advanced ESCC who received nIC at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were included.Patients were divided into dexamethasone and antihistamine groups on the basis of the administered pretreatment.Antiallergic efficacy and safety were evaluated,as well as its impact on short-term efficacy[complete pathological response(pCR),major pathological response(MPR)]and long-term efficacy[overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS)]of nIC.RESULTS From September 2019 to September 2023,142 patients were analyzed.No severe treatment-related adverse events or deaths were observed.Allergy occurrence was greater in the antihistamine group(P=0.014).Short-term efficacy was not significantly different:The pCR rates were 29.9%and 40.0%,and the MPR rates were 57.9%and 65.7%in the dexamethasone and antihistamine groups,respectively.The long-term efficacy was not significantly different:The 2 years OS rates were 95.2%and 93.5%,and the 2 years PFS rates were 90.3%and 87.8%.Subgroup analysis revealed no difference in OS between the 20 mg dexamethasone group and the<20 mg dexamethasone group,but PFS was significantly greater in the 20 mg dexamethasone group(93.9%vs 56.4%,P=0.001).CONCLUSION Dexamethasone or antihistamines can be used before nIC in locally advanced ESCC without affecting short-or long-term efficacy.Administering 20 mg dexamethasone before nIC may improve PFS in ESCC.展开更多

An increasing number of researchers are attempting to use neural stem cells combined with artificial scaffold materials, such as fibroin, for nerve repair. However, such approaches are challenged by ethical and practical issues. Amniotic tissue, a clinical waste product, is abundant, and amniotic epithe- lial cells are pluripotent, have low immunogenicity, and are not the subject of ethical debate. We hypothesized that amniotic epithelial cells combined with silk fibroin scaffolds would be conducive to the repair of spinal cord injury. To test this, we isolated and cultured amniotic epithelial cells, and constructed complexes of these cells and silk fibroin scaffolds. Implantation of the cell-scaffold complex into a rat model of spinal cord injury resulted in a smaller glial scar in the damaged cord tissue than in model rats that received a blank scaffold, or amniotic epithelial cells alone. In addition to a milder local immunological reaction, the rats showed less inflammatory cell infiltration at the trans- plant site, milder host-versus-graft reaction, and a marked improvement in motor function. These findings confirm that the transplantation of amniotic epithelial ceils combined with silk fibroin scaffold can promote the repair of spinal cord injury. Silk fibroin scaffold can provide a good nerve regeneration microenvironment for amniotic epithelial cells.展开更多
Purpose Compared with the iterative approximation solution,the analytically rigorous solution of the parameters of the accelerator alignment and surveying is the closed theoretical solution.To make the calculated erro...Purpose Compared with the iterative approximation solution,the analytically rigorous solution of the parameters of the accelerator alignment and surveying is the closed theoretical solution.To make the calculated error meet the negligible principle,in this paper,such examples of the zero,small angle and small translation,only large translation and no angle,only large angle without translation and large translation and large angle parameters under random errors are constructed.Methods Furthermore,Singular Value Decomposition,Eigen Value Decomposition,Polar Decomposition,Orthogonal Procrustes Analysis,and Successive Equivalent Differences Transformation are compared.Results In all the above examples,the mutual calculation deviation of Singular Value Decomposition,Eigen Value Decomposition,Polar Decomposition,and Orthogonal Procrustes analysis methods is less than 10 um.Its calculation accuracy is the highest,and Successive Equivalent Differences Transformation-3 has the largest calculation error,and Successive Equivalent Differences Transformation-N is in the middle.The results show that the coordinate residuals,parameters offsets and point position errors of the above solutions with random errors are all nearly zero.Conclusion It shows that the closed analytical solution is a rigorous solution.Moreover,it also shows that the constructed method of the coordinate point pairs is correct.展开更多
