This is a single blind study aimed to evaluate certain commonly used species-specific genetic markers namely, Intergenic Transcribed Spacer region in 16S rRNA of <em>A. baumannii</em> (Ab-ITS) and <em>gyrB</em>, for identification of ACB members. These molecular targets were first validated on clinical isolates (n = 200) and subsequently on uncultured tracheal aspirates (n = 172). Among the clinical isolates, 183/200 (91.5%) were positive for Ab-ITS. The clinical isolates 17 (17/200) which are failed to amplify in Ab-ITS PCR were subsequently diagnosed by <em>gyrB</em> PCR as <em>A. calcoaceticus</em> (n = 2), <em>A. pitti</em> (n = 6) and <em>A. nosocomialis</em> (n = 9) but not <em>A. baumannii</em>. Among the tracheal aspirates, 62 samples were reported as sterile in Advanced Expert System of VITEK-2, among the remaining 110 samples, 68.1% (75/110) samples contained Ab-ITS target. Twenty-five of the sterile samples (25/62) were found to contain Ab-ITS target sequence. Since, our sample processing method enabled identification of all the species of ACB complex by PCR even in uncultured tracheal aspirates, adaptation of our protocol would enable same day (6 - 8 h) reporting and help the clinician make evidence based therapeutic decision quickly.展开更多

Among them, the variables such as temperature and pH in the marine environment may affect seriously and in turn it has an impact on the biota, especially in the intertidal environment, where it has brunt force. According to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the datasets should provide the empirical evidence needed to predict the climate change and evoluate the mitigation and adaptation measures. Under this context, a review was carried out to know what extent marine scientists understand this factor and what level the biodiversity was evoluated and its impact was analysed in this article. Based on the existing literature review, it was understood that only a few groups that also only few species from these groups were studied in this aspect. The remaining groups and their species and their basic trophic were not evolved in this aspect. So, the marine scientific community, environmentalist and policy makers should take stock on this aspect and give thrust on this study.展开更多

The tolerance (t) factor of the BNBT composition have been estimated and found to be 0.988, 0.990 and 0.991 for x = 0.026, 0.055 and 0.065 respectively, revealing system is stable perovskite type structure. The com-pound has a rhombohedral-tetragonal Morphtropic Phase Boun- dary (MPB) at x = 0.065. XRD re-sults indicated the crystalline structure of the investigated materials are of single phase with rhombohedral structure and the average parti-cle size of the calcined powder is found to lie between 45 nm - 60 nm. The effect of Ba2+ on dielectric and conductivity properties in Bis-muth Sodium Titanate (BNT) has been studied. The variation of dielectric constant with fre-quency (45 Hz-5 MHz) and temperature (35℃-590℃) has been performed. The value of Tm and Td are found to decrease with increase of concentration of Barium in BNT. The value of tan in the studied materials is found to be the order of 10-2 indicating low loss materials. The evaluated Curie constant in the composi-tion is found to be the order of 105 revealing the materials belong to oxygen octahedra ferro-electrics. The theoretical dielectric data of the studied composition have been fitted by us- ing Jonscher’s dielectric dispersion relation: . The pre-factor a(T), which indicates the strength of the po-larizability showed a maximum at transition temperature (Tm). The exponent n(T) which gives a large extent of interaction between the charge carriers and polarization is found to be minimum in the vicinity of Tm. The A.C. and d.c conductivity activation energies have been eva- luated;the difference in activation energies could be due to the grain boundary effect. The activation enthalpy energies, have been esti-mated and found to be Hm = 0.37 eV, 0.26 eV and 0.25 eV for BNBT-26, BNBT-55 and BNBT-65 re-spectively.展开更多

Nanopesticides increase the efficacy, durability and reduction in the amount of active constituent. The potential applications of nanotechnology in pesticides are quick decomposition in soil or plant, targeted delivery, apparent solubility and controlled release. In this communication the author reported a neonicatonoid insecticide called as Nano-acetamiprid and it is widely used to control fungal infections in different crops like cotton, leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, pome etc. The author reported a facile method i.e. a new Nano-acetamiprid for plant disease control and its subsequent characterization of encapsulated complex using polycaprolactone as an encapsulated agent. Nano-acetamiprid encapsulated particles were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), ultraviolet spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To ascertain the formation and the stability of nanoencapsulated acetamiprid pesticide, the maximum absorption spectra formulated at 421 nm and unformulated pesticide at 520 nm were observed. The size distribution was noted at 40 - 50 nm. The bioactivity study was conducted against various Aspergillus niger. The performance of nano particles was many fold times effective when compared to the original parental particles. The bio-assay of Nano-acetamiprid shows better results when compared to the normal commercial acetamiprid.展开更多

To present a demonstration of our method’s sensitivity and ability to correctly detect S. aureus from uncultured clinical specimen, 30 known S. aureus positive but leftover uncultured clinical specimens from clinical microbiology laboratory were processed by our protocol and analyzed. All the 30 clinical specimens were confirmed as S. aureus among which 26 specimen were identified as MRSA and the remaining 4 as MSSA. These 30 clinical specimens used in the study showed 100% correlation with coagulase test and Cefoxitin disc diffusion method. Though commercial molecular diagnostic kits are available for detecting MRSA from swabs, this is probably the first time that multiplex PCR is being demonstrated directly on a variety of uncultured clinical specimens.展开更多

文摘Developing anode materials with high specific capacity and cycling stability is vital for improving thin-film lithium-ion batteries.Thin-film zinc oxide(ZnO)holds promise due to its high specific capacity, but it suffers from volume changes and structural stress during cycling, leading to poor battery performance. In this research,we ingeniously combined polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)with ZnO using a radio frequency(RF)magnetron co-sputtering method, ensuring a strong bond in the thin-film composite electrode.PTFE effectively reduced stress on the active material and mitigated volume change effects during Li^(+)ion intercalation and deintercalation. The composite thin films are thoroughly characterized using advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy for investigating correlations between material properties and electrochemical behaviors.Notably, the ZnO/PTFE thin-film electrode demonstrated an impressive specific capacity of 1305 mAh g^(-1)(=7116 mAh cm^(-3))at a 0.5C rate and a remarkable capacity retention of 82%from the 1st to the 100th cycle, surpassing the bare ZnO thin film(50%).This study provides valuable insights into using binders to stabilize active materials in thin-film batteries, enhancing battery performance.

文摘Recently, the coronavirus disease 2019 has shown excellent attention in the global community regarding health and the economy.World Health Organization(WHO)and many others advised controlling Corona Virus Disease in 2019.The limited treatment resources, medical resources, and unawareness of immunity is an essential horizon to unfold.Among all resources, wearing a mask is the primary non-pharmaceutical intervention to stop the spreading of the virus caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)droplets.All countries made masks mandatory to prevent infection. For such enforcement, automatic and effective face detection systems are crucial. This study presents a face mask identification approach for static photos and real-time movies that distinguishes between images with and without masks. To contribute to society,we worked on mask detection of an individual to adhere to the rule and provide awareness to the public or organization. The paper aims to get detection accuracy using transfer learning from Residual Neural Network 50(ResNet-50)architecture and works on detection localization. The experiment is tested with other popular pre-trained models such as Deep Convolutional Neural Networks(AlexNet),Residual Neural Networks(ResNet),and Visual Geometry Group Networks(VGG-Net)advanced architecture. The proposed system generates an accuracy of 98.4%when modeled using Residual Neural Network 50(ResNet-50).Also,the precision and recall values are proved as better when compared to the existing models. This outstanding work also can be used in video surveillance applications.
文摘BACKGROUND Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus responsible for a significant burden of acute gastroenteritis, particularly among infants and young children worldwide, however, vaccination against this viral agent is available.Several studies have hypothesized that rotavirus vaccination has been linked to lower rates of antibiotic resistance.AIM To assess the relationship between rotavirus vaccination and antibiotic resistance.METHODS The present systematic review was tailored based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.Several electronic databases(PubMed/MEDLINE,Scopus and Web of Science)were searched independently by two investigators in order to retrieve relevant publications published until April 2023 that investigated the aforementioned research question.RESULTS The comprehensive database search identified a total of 91 records. After the duplicates were removed(n=75),we screened the titles and abstracts of 16 potentially eligible publications. After the irrelevant records were excluded(n=5),we screened the full texts of 11 manuscripts.Finally,5 studies were entered into the qualitative and quantitative analysis.CONCLUSION In conclusion, all the studies support the idea that vaccinations can reduce the need for antibiotic prescriptions which could potentially contribute to mitigating antibiotic resistance. However,to fully comprehend the mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, enhance treatment guidelines, and consider diverse demographic situations, further research is necessary to use evidence-based strategies to fight antibiotic misuse and resistance.

文摘Sex reversal is one of the characteristic properties of sexual plasticity in bony fishes wherein both natural and induced sex change happens at various stages of life cycle in different species.Sex determination in gonochoristic species is genetically regulated, wherein the same sex is retained throughout their life span whereas hermaphrodites change their sex during development or adulthood. In sequential hermaphrodites, serial sex change occurs at different points of life cycle.Concurrently, synchronous hermaphrodites function as both the sexes during spawning.Other variables like temperature,pH and social factors can trigger sex reversal in teleost.Sex reversal through gene mutations and chemicals/hormones,including sex steroids, can be induced mostly at early developmental stages but natural sex reversal can occur at any time.Sex reversal mechanism shows morphological to molecular changes, which are ideal for identification of sex-specific gene markers. In fact, gonadal transdifferentiation occurs at the molecular level through differential expression of transcription factors and steroidogenic enzyme genes vis-a-vis hormones, thereby imparting phenotypic or structural changes. In addition, brain shows sexual dimorphism which is mostly consequential to gonadal sex development and occasionally either causative. The major breakthrough in this line is the identification of sex determining genes such as dmy/dmrt1Yb,gsdfY,sox3 in the Japanese medaka and amhY in Patagonian pejerrey.Incidentally, the induction of mono-sex population by favouring one sex due to sex-specific differences in growth is an important economic boom for aquaculture. This review comprehensively highlights key molecular factors involved in natural and induced sex reversal conditions to illustrate teleostean sexual plasticity and its application perspectives.
文摘Currently, available phenotyping and commercial methods report <em>A. baumannii</em> only as <em>Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-baumannii</em> complex (ACB) and do not identify individual members of the complex. Since, our sample processing method enabled identification of all the species of ACB complex by PCR even in uncultured tracheal aspirates, adaptation of our protocol would enable same day (6 - 8 h) reporting and help the clinician make evidence based therapeutic decision quickly.
文摘As per the Essential Climate Variables (ESV) of World Meterological Organisation (WMO), the physical, chemical and biological variables critically contribute to the earth’s climate. So, the marine scientific community, environmentalist and policy makers should take stock on this aspect and give thrust on this study.
文摘The aim of this review is to assess the evidence regarding racial differences in the prevalence and severity of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).We reviewed the published literature that reported prevalence, severity, and genetic associations of NAFLD in different ethnic groups. The metabolic syndrome(MetS)has been associated with NAFLD,but each component of the MetS is present in various races in different percentages and their effect on NAFLD appears to be dissimilar. An elevated triglyceride(TG)level seems to have the strongest association with NAFLD.The latter is more prevalent in Hispanic patients;Blacks have lower TG levels and a lower NAFLD prevalence, compared to Caucasians or Hispanics. The severity of liver fibrosis is lower in some, but not all biopsy-based studies of Black patients. No study has evaluated the severity of liver disease controlling for the individual components of MetS,especially TG.Important racial differences in the prevalence of selected genetic polymorphisms, particularly PNPLA-3 and MBOAT7 have been documented, together with their effects on the prevalence of liver steatosis and fibrosis.Data on overall and liver mortality have found no significant differences according to race/ethnicity,with the possible exception of one paper reporting lower cirrhosis mortality in Black patients. We conclude that NAFLD is more prevalent in Hispanics and less in Blacks. This is supported by differences in key genetic polymorphisms associated with hepatic fat storage. However, there is presently insufficient evidence to firmly conclude that race, per se,plays a role in the development of liver fibrosis and its complications.Further studies, appropriately controlled for diet, exercise, and individual MetS parameters are needed.
文摘Objective:To investigate the association between age and semen parameters among male partners of subfertile couples. Methods:This retrospective study analyzed the semen of 1523 infertile men aged 26 to 50 years.Data were extracted from GarbhaGudi IVF Centre database from January 2019 to September 2020.The basic semen parameters were interpreted according to the WHO manual 2021,6th edition.Semen parameters in different age groups were compared. Results:Total and progressive motile sperms were significantly higher in the age group of 26-30 years compared to other age groups(P<0.05).Normal sperm count was significantly higher in the age group of 26-30 years compared to the age groups of 41-45 years and>46 years(P=0.001).However,sperm head defects, neck and midpiece defects, tail defects, and cytoplasmic droplets showed statistically insignificant difference in all the age groups(P>0.05).Semen viscosity showed no statistical difference in all the age groups compared to the reference age group of 26 to 30 years. Conclusions:Higher age can lead to a significant decrease in normal sperms and motility in subfertile men.Hence, male partner age should be considered as one of the major determining factors for reproductive outcomes.

文摘We report on the magnetic, magnetocaloric, thermal, and electrical transport properties of Tb_(4)Coln alloy, which crystallizes in two phases,Tb_6Co_(2.1)In_(0.8)(space group Immm)and Tb_(2)In_(0.9)Co_(0.1)(space group P6_(3)/mmc),respectively.The alloy reveals three successive magnetic transitions around T_(1)(163 K),T_(2)(50 K),and T_(3)(29 K),respectively, associated with paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition and two sequential antiferromagnetic transitions. The low-temperature transition T_(3) follows the first-order magnetic behavior and exhibits the field-induced magnetic transition.Meanwhile,T_(2) and T_(1) are found to be second-order in nature which opens a possibility for hysteresis-free magnetocaloric application. The magnetocaloric properties are determined using different magnetocaloric figures of merits such as-ΔS_(M),ΔT_(ad).RCP,and TEC(10).Additionally,the universal curve behavior in the isothermal entropy change unveils the variation in critical exponents around T_(1) and T_(2) due to the magnetic inhomogeneity in the alloy.Besides, the electrical transport properties of the metallic alloy denote the maximum magnetoresistance of-10%around T_(1).
文摘As we set into the second half of 2022,the world is still recovering from the two-year COVID-19 pandemic. However, over the past three months, the outbreak of the Monkeypox Virus(MPV)has led to fifty-two thousand confirmed cases and over one hundred deaths. This caused the World Health Organisation to declare the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern(PHEIC).If this outbreak worsens,we could be looking at the Monkeypox virus causing the next global pandemic. As Monkeypox affects the human skin, the symptoms can be captured with regular imaging.Large samples of these images can be used as a training dataset for machine learning-based detection tools.Using a regular camera to capture the skin image of the infected person and running it against computer vision models is beneficial. In this research,we use deep learning to diagnose monkeypox from skin lesion images.Using a publicly available dataset,we tested the dataset on five pre-trained deep neural networks:GoogLeNet,Places365-GoogLeNet,SqueezeNet,AlexNet and ResNet-18.Hyperparameter was done to choose the best parameters.Performance metrics such as accuracy,precision,recall,f1-score and AUC were considered.Among the above models,ResNet18 was able to obtain the highest accuracy of 99.49%.The modified models obtained validation accuracies above 95%.The results prove that deep learning models such as the proposed model based on ResNet-18 can be deployed and can be crucial in battling the monkeypox virus.Since the used networks are optimized for efficiency, they can be used on performance limited devices such as smartphones with cameras. The addition of explainable artificial intelligence techniques LIME and GradCAM enables visual interpretation of the prediction made, helping health professionals using the model.
文摘The polycrystalline (Na0.5Bi0.5)1-xBaxTiO3 (x = 0.026, 0.055 & 0.065) (BNBT) ceramics have been synthesized by conventional solid state sinter-ing technique. The activation enthalpy energies, have been esti-mated and found to be Hm = 0.37 eV, 0.26 eV and 0.25 eV for BNBT-26, BNBT-55 and BNBT-65 re-spectively.
文摘In present days many types of materials are used to reduce the environmental pollution in the world which includes nanomaterials. The bio-assay of Nano-acetamiprid shows better results when compared to the normal commercial acetamiprid.
文摘To the editor:Suicide is a significant global public health concern, claiming over 0.7million lives annually. It is seen in all age groups and is the fourth leading cause of mortality in the 15-29 year old age group.Three-quarters of suicides are reported in low-income and middle-income countries.1Notably,India significantly contributes to this global burden, reporting 164000 suicides in 2021.
文摘Phenotypic tests have limited discrimatory power to identify closely related members of genus Staphylococcus and particularly for identification of S. aureus. 157 isolates of S. aureus obtained from different clinical specimens were included in our study. Though commercial molecular diagnostic kits are available for detecting MRSA from swabs, this is probably the first time that multiplex PCR is being demonstrated directly on a variety of uncultured clinical specimens.
文摘Purpose-In cultivation, early harvest offers farmers an opportunity to increase production while decreasing the chances of lower crop production rates, ensuring that the economy remains balanced. The significant reason is to predict the disease in plants and distinguish the type of syndrome with the help of segmentation and random forest optimization classification. In this investigation, the accurate prior phase of crop imagery has been collected from different datasets like cropscience, yesmodes and nelsonwisc. In the current study, the real-time earlier state of crop images has been gathered from numerous data sources similar to crop_science,yes_modes,nelson_wisc dataset.Design/methodology/approach-In this research work, random forest machine learning-based persuasive plants healthcare computing is provided. If proper ecological care is not applied to early harvesting,it can cause diseases in plants, decrease the cropping rate and less production.Until now different methods have been developed for crop analysis at an earlier stage, but it is necessary to implement methods to advanced techniques. So,the detection of plant diseases with the help of threshold segmentation and random forest classification has been involved in this investigation. This implemented design is verified on Python 3.7.8 software for simulation analysis.Findings-In this work, different methods are developed for crops at an earlier stage, but more methods are needed to implement methods with prior stage crop harvesting.Because of this,a disease-finding system has been implemented. The methodologies like“Threshold segmentation”and RFO classifier lends 97.8% identification precision with 99.3%real optimistic rate, and 59.823 peak signal-to-noise(PSNR),0.99894 structure similarity index(SSIM),0.00812 machine squared error(MSE)values are attained.Originality/value-The implemented machine learning design is outperformance methodology, and they are proving good application detection rate.
