Batsch, cv. Yuhuasanhao] were used as materials to investigate the changes of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and related enzymes in mitochondria respiration during storage and then their influence on senescence of harvested Peach fruits was studied. The results showed that low temperature (5℃) strongly inhibited the reduction of firmness and the increase in respiration rate. During storage at ambient temperature (20℃), ROS had a cumulative process while malondialdehye (MDA) content continued to increase in associated with enhanced membrane lipid peroxidation. Lipoxygenase (LOX) activity was strongly inhibited under the low temperature condition. The activities of succinic dehydrogenase (SDH), cytochrome C oxidase (CCO), and Ca^2+-ATPase declined to a certain extent at ambient temperature, while they showed higher activities at low temperature, which may be related to lower membrane lipid peroxidation at low temperature. Higher Ca^2+ content at ambient temperature may be responsible for impairment of mitochondrial function, thus, leading to fruit senescence. The results showed that under low temperature condition, the low accumulation of ROS and the low level of membrane lipid peroxidation could maintain the function of mitochondria that would help to delay the senescence of peach fruits. These suggested a close relationship existed between ROS metabolism and mitochondrial respiration. It can be inferred that the low temperature helps to delay senescence of peach fruits via suppression of ROS and related enzymes, maintain better homeostasis of Ca^2+ in mitochondria and thus better mitochondrial functions.展开更多

A 4-year field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of three irrigation levels(W1, irrigation once at jointing stage; W2, irrigation once at jointing and once at heading stage; W3, irrigation once at jointing, once at heading, and once at filling stage; 60 mm each irrigation) and four N fertilizer rates(N0, 0; N1, 100 kg N ha-(-1); N2, 200 kg N ha-(-1); N3, 300 kg N ha-(-1)) on wheat yield, water use efficiency, fertilizer agronomic efficiency, and economic benefits. The results showed that wheat yield under W2 condition was similar to that under W3, and greater than that under W1 at the same nitrogen level. Yield with the N1 treatment was higher than that with the N0 treatment, but not significantly different from that obtained with the N2 and N3 treatments. The W2 N1 treatment resulted in the highest water use and fertilizer agronomic efficiencies. Compared with local traditional practice(W3 N3), the net income and output-input ratio of W2 N1 were greater by 12.3 and 19.5%, respectively. These findings suggest that two irrigation events of 60 mm each coupled with application of 100 kg N ha-(–1) is sufficient to provide a high wheat yield during drought growing seasons in the NCP.展开更多

The results showed that the large decrease in firmness occurred between maturity II and IV. The decrease in firmness coincided with an increase in respiratory intensity. Obvious peaks of respiratory intensity lagging to the rapid change of fruit firmness could be shown during peach ripening. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) had a cumulative process and positively correlated with respiratory intensity. During peach ripening, the content of Ca^2+ increased, the activities of succinic dehydrogenase (SDH), cytochrome C oxidase (CCO), H+-ATPase, and Ca^2+-ATPase decreased varying in different degree at the later step of ripening. These suggested a close relationship existed between ROS metabolism and mitochondrial respiration, namely, both ROS metabolism and mitochondrial respiration probably played important roles in ripening and senescing of peach fruit.展开更多

Methods Pronounced changes in the activities of the algal culture were observed when the culture was treated with different doses of a mixture of penicillin and streptomycin. Results In the presence of antibiotics at the initial concentration of 100 u/mL in culture medium, both algal growth and toxin yield increased markedly. When the concentration of antibiotics was increased to 500 u/mL, the microalgal growth was inhibited, but resumed in a few days to eventually reach the same level of growth and toxin production as at the lower dose of the antibiotics. When the antibiotics were present at a concentration of 1 000 u/mL, the algal growth was inhibited permanently. Conclusions The results indicate that antibiotics can enhance algal growth and toxin production not only through their inhibition of the growth and hence competition for nutrients, but also through their effects on the physiology of the algae.展开更多

This investigation was designed to investigate the prevalence of KOA in Taiyuan, and identify the associated risk factors of KOA. Methods A population sample was surveyed of 2188 adults aged from 35 to 64 years, living in 6-story buildings without elevators. The protocol of Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR) Community Oriented Program for Control of Rheumatic Diseases (COPCORD) core questionnaire was implemented. The data on knee pain and KOA were collected and analyzed. Variables such as sex, age, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), education level, and smoking history, were included in binary logistic regression model for further analysis. Results The prevalence rates of knee pain and KOA were 13.6% and 10.9%, respectively, significantly higher than those in Shantou of south China and similar to those in Beijing of north China. The prevalence of KOA was significantly higher in women than in men (18.3% versus 8.7% and 15.1% versus 6.3%), with a tendency of increase with age. The prevalence was increased more obviously in women after 40 years old and in men after 45 years old. BMI in KOA group was significantly higher than that in non-KOA group. Binary Logistic regression revealed that age, sex, and BMI were significantly associated with KOA, whereas no significant correlation was seen between KOA and other factors such as climbing stairs, WC, time length of occupation service, education level, smoking history and religious belief. Conclusion Geography, age, sex, and BMI might be the risk factors of KOA, but climbing stairs, WC, time length of occupation service, education level, smoking history and religious belief are not correlated with KOA. Prevention of KOA should be initiated before the middle-age, especially in female adults, and weight control is necessary. Other factors might also contribute to展开更多

Pd/Au atomic ratio can be tuned by controlling the sputtering conditions simply. High catalytic activity was found in Pd Au–NPs–Ti O2 hybrids for solvent-free selective oxidation of 1-phenylethanol using O2 as the oxidant at the low temperature of 50 °C and low pressure of 1 atm. It was found that Pd/Au ratio strongly affected the catalytical activity, and the highest conversion of about 35 % and turnover frequency of about 421 h-1were achieved at 1:1 of Pd/Au atomic ratio. The synergistic effect in Pd Au NPs was also discussed based on the comprehensive characterization results. The present approach may offer an alternative platform for future development of green-chemistry compatible bimetallic nanocatalysts.展开更多

To understand alkali tolerance of M. prunifolia at the molecular level, transcriptome analysis was performed. When plants were cultured in alkaline conditions for 15 d, the root growth of M. hupehensis with weak alkali tolerance decreased significantly. Analysis of endogenous hormone levels showed that the concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and zeatin riboside (ZR) in M. hupehensis under alkali stress were lower than those in the control. However, the trend for IAA and ZR in M. prunifolia was the opposite. The concentration of abscisic acid (ABA) in the roots of the two apple rootstocks under alkali stress increased, but the concentration of ABA in the roots of M. prunifolia was higher than that in M. hupehensis. The expression of IAA-related genes ARF5, GH3.6, SAUR36, and SAUR32 and the Cytokinin (CTK)-related gene IPT5 in M. prunifolia was higher than those in the control, but the expression of these genes in M. hupehensis was lower than those in the control. The expression of ABA-related genes CIPK1 and AHK1 increased in the two apple rootstocks under alkali stress, but the expression of CIPK1 and AHK1 in M. prunifolia was higher than in M. hupehensis. These results demonstrated that under alkali stress, the increase of IAA, ZR, and ABA in roots and the increase of the expression of related genes promoted the growth of roots and improved the alkali tolerance of apple rootstocks.展开更多

For the proofs of the upper and lower bounds are too complex, a much easier way is introduced to get the same results, and by using Taylor series, the asymptotic bound is derived. By comparing with the simulation results, we found that the asymptotic bound is sufficient accurate when the network parameters are selected properly, and is tighter than the upper and lower bounds.展开更多

Method Batchwise experiments were conducted to elucidate the influence of various operating variables on the extracting performance, including acidity of wastewater, initial aniline concentration, ratios of solvent to wastewater, extraction stages, concentrations and different types of inorganic salts, such as NaCl, KCI, Na2SO4, CaCl2 and K29O4. Results Nitrobenzene with a concentration of 20% and a pH value of 9.1 at the temperature of 25 ℃ together with NaCl of a concentration of 14 wt.% realized nearly 100% aniline recovery at the fifth stage of wastewater treatment. Conclusions High pH values and volume ratios of nitrobenzene/wastewater are more suitable for recovery of aniline. In addition, recovery of aniline is significantly elevated with increase of the concentration of salts, whose promoting effects are in the following order: NaCI〉Na2SO4〉K2SO4〉CaC12〉KCI on the weight basis of wastewater. Furthermore, aniline in wastewater can be almost completely recovered by five-stage sequential nitrobenzene extraction, which is promoted continuously by the salting-out effect.展开更多

The results showed that the pouring temperature of aluminum melt had an important influence on the element diffusion of Cu from the solid Cu to Al alloy melt and the reactions between Al and Cu, as well as the morphology of the Al-Cu interface. When the pouring temperature was 800 oC, there were abundant Al-Cu intermetallic compounds(IMCs) near the interface. However, a lower pouring temperature(700 oC) resulted in the formation of cavities which was detrimental to the bonding and mechanical properties. Under the conditions in this study, the good metallurgical bonding of Al-Cu was achieved at a pouring temperature of 750 oC.展开更多

Adsorption affinity of sulfuric acid on D301R was found to be much higher than that of NSA. The data of single-solute adsorption were fitted to the Langmuir model and the Freundlich adsorption model. The ideal adsorbed solution theory(IAST) coupled with the single-solute adsorption models were used to predict the bisolute competitive adsorption equilibria. The IAST coupled with the Langmuir and the Freundlich model for sulfuric acid and NSA, respectively, yields the favorable representation of the bisolute competitive adsorption behavior.展开更多

The deformation and failure modes of the thin steel plates were analyzed. A new method was proposed according to the experimental results and the perforation phenomenon of the thin steel plates to determine the radius of the bulging region. In establishing this new method, a dynamic method combined with the plastic wave propagation concept based on the rigid plastic assumption was adopted. The whole perforation process was divided into four consecutive stages, namely, bulging deformation, dishing deformation, ductile hole enlargement, and projectile exit. On the basis of the energy conservation principle, a new model was developed to predict the residual velocities of hemispherical-nosed projectiles that perforate thin steel plates at low velocities. The results obtained from the theoretical calculations by the present model were compared with the experimental results. Theoretical predictions were in good agreement with the experimental results in terms of both the radius of the bulging region and the residual velocity of the projectile when the strain rate effects of the target material during each stage were considered.展开更多

Oxide scale structure was examined by optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It was found that oxide scale formed under normal cooling conditions had a struc ture mainly consisting of an outer magnetite and an inner wustite layer. When a compressive stress was applied, numerous magnetite precipitates formed within wustite layer homogeneously at starting cooling temperature of 900 ℃, and the wustite layer in the scale was transformed into a mixture of mostly magnetite/iron eutectoid and magnetite layer at starting cooling temperature of 700 ℃. The wustite decomposition and precipitation of magnetite in wustite under compressive stress were discussed.展开更多

The small-sized CNTs-Pd Au/Pt NPs(~3 nm, Pd/Au/Pt ratio of 3:1:2) act as nanocatalysts for the methanol oxidationreaction(MOR), showing excellent performance with electrocatalytic peak current of 4.4 A mg^(-1) Pt and high stability over 7000 s. The electrocatalytic activity and stability of the Pd Au/Pt trimetallic NPs are much superior to those of the corresponding Pd/Pt and Au/Pt bimetallic NPs,as well as a commercial Pt/C catalyst. Systematic investigation of the microscopic, crystalline, and electronic structure of the Pd Au/Pt NPs reveals alloying and charge redistribution in the Pd Au/Pt NPs, which are responsible for the promotion of the electrocatalytic performance.展开更多

文摘Ti O2-supported Pd Au bimetallic nanoparticles(NPs) with small size and good dispersity were prepared by the room-temperature ionic liquid-assisted bimetal sputtering, which is simple, environmentally friendly, and free of additives and byproducts. The present approach may offer an alternative platform for future development of green-chemistry compatible bimetallic nanocatalysts.

文摘The Crested Ibis(Nipponia Nippon) is endemic to Qinling Mountains of China and was once abundant over vast areas of north-east of Asia habitat.During the 20th century, however, the population declined greatly in numbers.Habitat quality used to be the main threat to this species but recent actions by the government and wildlife protection organizations have brought this under control. With the establishment of Crested Ibis Nature Reserve in China, conflicts between socio-economic development and Crested Ibis conservation have become more acute. How do we deal with the relation between Crested Ibis conservation and community development? In this study, the Crested Ibis Nature Reserve co-management model namely "companies + farmers + Nature Reserve" model is proposed and evaluated with demonstration investigation methods, including continuous six-year fixed-site socio-economic development data of surrounding community, company sales revenue data and monitored data of Crested Ibis Nature Reserve. The results show that farmers' income and conservation awareness increased greatly from 2003 to 2008;company sales revenue has increased by about 20% annually in the recent years;management level has noticeably improved in Nature Reserve, the scope of Crested Ibis habitat has expanded 50 hm2;chemical composition of habitat reduced year after year;and the number of Crested Ibis had been growing annually. At the end,the success of the model is evaluated, and problems in implementation of the model are discussed from the following aspects:management system,co-management concept, economic base of partners, marketing mechanism, technical capacity and so on.

文摘Soil alkalinity is a major factor that restricts the growth of apple roots. To analyze the response of apple roots to alkali stress, the root structure and endogenous hormones of two apple rootstocks, Malus prunifolia (alkali-tolerant) and Malus hupehensis (alkali-sensitive), were compared. The expression of ABA-related genes CIPK1 and AHK1 increased in the two apple rootstocks under alkali stress, but the expression of CIPK1 and AHK1 in M. prunifolia was higher than in M. hupehensis. These results demonstrated that under alkali stress, the increase of IAA, ZR, and ABA in roots and the increase of the expression of related genes promoted the growth of roots and improved the alkali tolerance of apple rootstocks.

文摘This article puts forward a new solution to the bound of the outage probability and transmission capacity of Ad-hoc networks. For the proofs of the upper and lower bounds are too complex, a much easier way is introduced to get the same results, and by using Taylor series, the asymptotic bound is derived. By comparing with the simulation results, we found that the asymptotic bound is sufficient accurate when the network parameters are selected properly, and is tighter than the upper and lower bounds.

文摘Objective Nitrobenzene extraction enhanced by salting-out effect was employed to recover aniline from wastewater at 25 ℃. Furthermore, aniline in wastewater can be almost completely recovered by five-stage sequential nitrobenzene extraction, which is promoted continuously by the salting-out effect.

文摘The solid-liquid method was used to prepare the continuous casting of copper cladding aluminium by liquid aluminum alloy and solid copper, and the interfacial phase formation of Al-Cu bimetal at different pouring temperatures(700, 750, 800 oC) was investigated by means of metallograph, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS) methods. Under the conditions in this study, the good metallurgical bonding of Al-Cu was achieved at a pouring temperature of 750 oC.
文摘Experiments for single and bisolute competitive adsorption were carried out to investigate the adsorption behavior of β-naphthalenesulfonic acid(NSA) and sulfuric acid (H_2SO_4) from their solution at 25℃ onto weakly basic resin D301R. The IAST coupled with the Langmuir and the Freundlich model for sulfuric acid and NSA, respectively, yields the favorable representation of the bisolute competitive adsorption behavior.

文摘A simple one-pot method was developed to prepare Pt Ni alloy nanoparticles, which can be self-decorated on multiwalled carbon nanotubes in [BMIm][BF4] ionic liquid. The nanohybrids are targeting stable nanocatalysts for fuel cell applications. The sizes of the supported Pt Ni nanoparticles are uniform and as small as 1–2 nm.Pt-to-Ni ratio was controllable by simply selecting a Pt Ni alloy target. The alloy nanoparticles with Pt-to-Ni ratio of 1:1 show high catalytic activity and stability for methanol electro-oxidation.The performance is much higher compared with those of both Pt-only nanoparticles and commercial Pt/C catalyst. The electronic structure characterization on the Pt Ni nanoparticles demonstrates that the electrons are transferred from Ni to Pt,which can suppress the CO poisoning effect.

文摘Ballistic experiments were conducted on thin steel plates that are normally impacted by hemisphericalnosed projectiles at velocities higher than their ballistic limits. Theoretical predictions were in good agreement with the experimental results in terms of both the radius of the bulging region and the residual velocity of the projectile when the strain rate effects of the target material during each stage were considered.

文摘The microstructure development of oxide scale on pure iron under the mutual action of compressive stress and cooling conditions was investigated. The wustite decomposition and precipitation of magnetite in wustite under compressive stress were discussed.

文摘We present a straightforward physical approach for synthesizing multiwalled carbon nanotubes(CNTs)-Pd Au/Pt trimetallic nanoparticles(NPs), which allows predesign and control of the metal compositional ratio by simply adjusting the sputtering targets and conditions. Systematic investigation of the microscopic, crystalline, and electronic structure of the Pd Au/Pt NPs reveals alloying and charge redistribution in the Pd Au/Pt NPs, which are responsible for the promotion of the electrocatalytic performance.
