DNA from tissue samples of these groups were independently hybridized on arrays and analyzed. The data obtained were further subjected to downstream bioinformatics enrichment analysis to examine the correlation with CAC progression.RESULTS: Microarray analysis highlighted a progressive increase in the total number of CNVs [LR(n = 178) vs CAC(n = 958), 5.3-fold], gains and losses [LR(n = 37 and 141) vs CAC(n = 495 and 463), 13.4- and 3.3-fold, respectively], size [LR(964.2 kb) vs CAC(10540 kb), 10.9-fold] and the number of genes in such regions [LR(n = 119) vs CAC(n = 455), 3.8-fold]. Chromosomewise analysis of CNVs also showed an increase in the number of CNVs across each chromosome. There were 38 genes common to all four groups in the study; 13 of these were common to cancer genes from the Genetic Disease Association dataset. The gene set enrichment analysis and ontology analysis highlighted many cancerassociated genes. All the samples in the different groupswere microsatellite stable.CONCLUSION: Increasing numbers of CNVs are associated with the progression of UC to CAC, and warrant further detailed exploration.展开更多

The present study uses the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) and SCS-CN (Soil Conservation Service - Curve Number) process to estimate in Kiruburu and Meghahatuburu mining sites areas. The geospatial model of annual average soil loss rate was determined by integrating environmental variables parameters in a raster pixels-based GIS framework. GIS layers with, rainfall passivity and runoff erosivity (R), soil erodibility (K), slope length and steepness (LS), cover management(C) and conservation practice (P) factors were calculated to determine their effects on annual soil erosion in the study area. The coefficient of determination (r2) was 0.834, which indicates a strong correlation of soil loss with runoff and rainfall. Sub -watersheds 5,9,10 and 2 experienced high level of highly runoff. Average annual soil loss was calculated (30*30 m raster grid cell) to determine the critical soil loss areas (Sub-watershed 9 and 5). Total soil erosion area was classified into five class, slight (10,025 ha), moderate (3125 ha), high (973 ha), very high (260 ha) and severe (53 ha). The resulting map shows greatest soil erosion of >40 t h-1 y-1 (severe) through connection to grassland, degraded and open forestry on the erect mining side-escutcheon. The Landsat pan sharpening image and DGPS survey field data were used in the verification of soil erosion results.展开更多

The tightest statistical constraints on the dense matter equation of state will come from pulse profile modelling of accretion-powered pulsars, burst oscillation sources, and rotation-powered pulsars. Additional constraints will derive from spin measurements, burst spectra, and properties of the accretion flows in the vicinity of the neutron star. Under development by an international Consortium led by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the eXTP mission is expected to be launched in the mid 2020 s.展开更多

The proposed antenna is simulated in CST Microwave Studio and fabricated for measurements. Its simulated result displays impedance bandwidth from 3.28 GHz to 19.64 GHz, whereas the measured result displays the frequency region from 2.01 GHz to 18.67 GHz. The antenna complies with the return loss of S11 < –10 dB and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) < 2 throughout the impedance bandwidth. Details of the antenna design and related results such as phase angle, input impedance and radiation patterns are discussed in this paper. This antenna has surpassed the bandwidth of UWB requirement, which is from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz, and exhibits good UWB characteristics.展开更多

However, the same symmetry also introduces potential flavor-changing neutral currents(FCNCs)at the tree level. In this study, we assume that the scalar potential contains appropriate soft S_(3)-breaking terms to maintain flexible choices of scalar masses. We identify the parameters in the Yukawa Lagrangian of the quark sector responsible for such FCNCs and constrain them using data from flavor physics observables, such as meson-decays and meson-mixings. We also validate the corresponding model parameter space via renormalization group evaluation.展开更多

The present study aimed to explore the in vivo and in silico anti-nociceptive and anti-diarrheal effects of a C. recurvate rhizome methanol extract(Me-RCR).Methods: The analgesic effects of Me-RCR were assessed using acetic acid-induced writhing and the formalin-induced flicking test. The drugs were administered intraperitoneally(IP) at doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight(bw). Anti-diarrheal activity was evaluated by assessing intestinal motility, hypersecretion, and fecal score in mice at oral doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg·bw. Computer facilitated analyses for anti-nociceptive and anti-diarrheal activities of three isolated compounds from C. recurvata were undertaken to identify the best-fit phytoconstituents. Results: The Me-RCR showed significant(P <.05) peripheral anti-nociception at the highest dose. The extract inhibited both early and late phases of nociception in the formalin-induced writhing test. In the castor oil-induced diarrhoea model, the extract significantly(P <.05) prolonged the onset time of diarrhoea, inhibited percentage of diarrhoea, and decreased both the volume and weight of intestinal contents. Rates of intestinal fluid accumulation inhibition were(33.61 ± 1.00)% and(46.44 ± 0.89)% at Me-RCR doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg·bw, respectively. Moreover, a significant(P <.05) reduction in gastrointestinal motility was observed. An absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and/or toxicity(ADME/T) test showed that the selected compounds yielded promising results, satisfying Lipinski's rule of five for predicting drug-like potential. Notably, of the three phytoconstituents curculigine and isocurculigine possessed the highest affinity for the COX-1 and COX-2. Isocurculigine was also identified as the most effective anti-diarrheal compound in the computer-facilitated model. Conclusion: An extract of the plant C. recurvata showed potential analgesic and antidiarrheal展开更多
文摘BACKGROUND Mixed neuroendocrine non-neuroendocrine neoplasm(MiNEN)is a rare diagnosis, mainly encountered in the gastro-entero-pancreatic tract. There is limited knowledge of its epidemiology, prognosis and biology, and the best management for affected patients is still to be defined.AIM To investigate clinical-pathological characteristics, treatment modalities and survival outcomes of a retrospective cohort of patients with a diagnosis of MiNEN.METHODS Consecutive patients with a histologically proven diagnosis of MiNEN were identified at 5 European centres.Patient data were retrospectively collected from medical records.Pathological samples were reviewed to ascertain compliance with the 2017 World Health Organisation definition of MiNEN.Tumour responses to systemic treatment were assessed according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours 1.1.Kaplan-Meier analysis was applied to estimate survival outcomes.Associations between clinical-pathological characteristics and survival outcomes were explored using Log-rank test for equality of survivors functions(univariate)and Cox-regression analysis(multivariable).RESULTS Sixty-nine consecutive patients identified;Median age at diagnosis:64 years.Males:63.8%.Localised disease(curable):53.6%.Commonest sites of origin:colon-rectum(43.5%)and oesophagus/oesophagogastric junction(15.9%).The neuroendocrine component was;predominant in 58.6%,poorly differentiated in 86.3%,and large cell in 81.25%,of cases analysed. Most distant metastases analysed(73.4%)were occupied only by a poorly differentiated neuroendocrine component.Ninety-four percent of patients with localised disease underwent curative surgery;53%also received perioperative treatment, most often in line with protocols for adenocarcinomas from the same sites of origin.Chemotherapy was offered to most patients(68.1%)with advanced disease, and followed protocols for pure neuroendocrine carcinomas or adenocarcinomas in equal proportion. In localised cases, median recurrence free survival(RFS);14.0 months(95%CI:9.2-24.

文摘AIM: To evaluate the association of known copy number variations(CNVs) in ulcerative colitis(UC) progressing to colorectal cancer.METHODS: Microsatellite instability analysis using the National Cancer Institute's panel of markers, and CNV association studies using Agilent 2 × 105 k arrays were done in tissue samples from four patient groups with UC: those at low risk(LR) or high risk of developing colorectal cancer, those with premalignant dysplastic lesions, and those with colitis-associated colorectal cancer(CAC). All the samples in the different groupswere microsatellite stable.CONCLUSION: Increasing numbers of CNVs are associated with the progression of UC to CAC, and warrant further detailed exploration.

文摘Aim: To determine the relationship of carotid plaque, intima media thickness (IMT), resistivity index (RI) and pulsatility index (PI) and prevalence of different risk factors with acute ischemic stroke and stroke subtypes in both diabetic and non-diabetic subjects. Materials and methods: 80 cases of acute ischemic strokes and 40 healthy controls were included in the study. The plaque, IMT, RI and PI were measured by carotid duplex ultrasound. Results: 31 subjects were Type 2 diabetic, 54 hypertensive while 25 were both diabetic and hypertensive. 23 cases (28.75%) had lacunar stroke (LACI), 32 (40%) stroke involving partial anterior circulation(PACI), 10(12.5%) stroke in posterior circulation (PACI) and 15(18.75%) stroke involving total anterior circulation(TACI) respectively. The mean IMT (0.88 ± 0.19mm), RI(0.76 ± 0.05) and PI(1.71 ± 0.19) of patients and mean IMT (0.6±0.09mm), RI (0.61 ± 0.06) and PI (1.53 ± 0.11) of controls were statistically significant (p-0.000). The mean values of IMT, PI and RI were significantly higher in diabetics (IMT-0.90 ± 0.16 VS 0.64 ± 0.11, p-0.013;PI-1.76 ± 0.20 VS 1.49 ± 0.09, P-0.000 and RI-0.76 ± 0.04 VS 0.59 ± 0.06, P-0.000) and similarly the mean values for IMT, PI and RI in hypertensives as compared to controls (IMT-0.88 ± 0.16 vs 0.65 ± 0.10, P-0.006;PI1.69 ± 0.18 vs 1.49 ± 0.09, P-0.000 and RI 0.76 ± 0.04 vs 0.59 ± 0.06, P-0.000). The mean IMT, PI and RI were increased significantly in smokers compared to controls (IMT-0.93 ± 0.20 vs 0.63 ± 0.06, P-0.000;PI-1.82 ± 0.22 vs 1.49 ± 0.09, P-0.000 and RI-0.77 ± 0.04 vs 0.59 ± 0.06, P-0.000). Type 3 plaque accounted for 27 (56.2%) cases and Type 2 plaque 12 (25%) cases. The total number of plaques in patients as compared to controls were significantly more (P-0.0034) and the mean plaque area was 46 mm2 for cases and 20 mm2 for control (P-0.0001). TACI was the most common type of ischemic stroke seen in DM (60%), HTN (66.6%) and smokers (66.7%). Plaques (73.3%), IMT (0.90 ± 0.12), PI(1.72 ± 0.14) and RI
文摘Mining operations result in the generation of barren land and spoil heaps which are subject to high erosion rate during the rainy season. The Landsat pan sharpening image and DGPS survey field data were used in the verification of soil erosion results.

文摘In this White Paper we present the potential of the Enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry(eXTP) mission for determining the nature of dense matter; neutron star cores host an extreme density regime which cannot be replicated in a terrestrial laboratory. Under development by an international Consortium led by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the eXTP mission is expected to be launched in the mid 2020 s.
文摘A comparative study of Frequency Ratio(FR)and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)models are performed for forest fire risk(FFR)mapping in Melghat Tiger Reserve forest, central India.Identification of FFR depends on various hydrometeorological parameters altitude, slope, aspect, topographic position index, normalized differential vegetation index, rainfall, air temperature, land surface temperature, wind speed, distance to settlements, and distance by road are integrated using a GIS platform. The results from FR and AHP show similar trends. The FR model was significantly higher accurate(overall accuracy of 81.3%,kappa statistic 0.78)than the AHP model(overall accuracy 79.3%,kappa statistic 0.75).The FR model total forest fire risk areas were classified into five classes:very low(7.1%),low(22.2%),moderate(32.3%),high(26.9%),and very high(11.5%).The AHP fire risk classes were very low(6.7%),low(21.7%),moderate(34.0%),high(26.7%),and very high(10.9%).Sensitivity analyses were performed for AHP and FR models. The results of the two different models are compared and justified concerning the forest fire sample points(Forest Survey of India)and burn images(2010-2016).These results help in designing more effective fire management plans to improve the allocation of resources across a landscape framework.
文摘BACKGROUND The prognostic significance of lymph nodes(LNs)metastases and the optimum number of LN yield in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours(GEP NETs)undergoing curative resection is still debatable. Many studies have demonstrated that cure rate for patients with GEP NETs can be improved by the resection of the primary tumour and regional lymphadenectomy AIM To evaluate the effect of lymph node(LN)status and yield on relapse-free survival(RFS)and overall survival(OS)in patients with resected GEP NETs.METHODS Data on patients who underwent curative resection for GEP NETs between January 2002 and March 2017 were analysed retrospectively.Grade 3 tumours(Ki67>20%)were excluded.Univariate Cox proportional hazard models were computed for RFS and OS and assessed alongside cut-point analysis to distinguish a suitable binary categorisation of total LNs retrieved associated with RFS.RESULTS A total of 217 patients were included in the study. The median age was 59 years(21-97 years)and 51%(n=111)were male.Primary tumour sites were small bowel(42%),pancreas(25%),appendix(18%),rectum(7%),colon(3%),gastric(2%),others(2%).Median follow up times for all patients were 41 mo(95%CI:36-51)and 71 mo(95%CI:63–76)for RFS and OS respectively;50 relapses and 35 deaths were reported.LNs were retrieved in 151 patients.Eight or more LNs were harvested in 106 patients and LN positivity reported in 114 patients.Three or more positive LNs were detected in 62 cases. The result of univariate analysis suggested perineural invasion(P=0.0023),LN positivity(P=0.033),LN retrieval of≥8(P=0.047)and localisation(P=0.0049)have a statistically significant association with shorter RFS,but there was no effect of LN ratio on RFS:P=0.1 or OS:P=0.75.Tumour necrosis(P=0.021)and perineural invasion(P=0.016)were the only two variables significantly associated with worse OS.In the final multivariable analysis, localisation(pancreas HR=27.33,P=0.006,small bowel HR=32.44,P=0.005),and retrieval of≥8 LNs(HR=2.7,P=0.036)were independent prognostic factors
文摘Objective:To determine the relationship of the capacity to produce interferon gamma(IFN-γ) in whole blood, bacteriological, hematological, radiographic and clinical presentations in new,HIV seronegative cases of pulmonary tuberculosis(TB).Methods:80 cases and 50 control subjects aged 15 years onwards, representative of Kasturba Hospital and Nursing schools of Wardha district of Maharashtra state in India were examined for their health condition with standard methodology. Results:Among these TB patients,73.8%were Quantiferon-TB gold (QFT) positive with IFN-γconcentration as 0.35 IU or more and there was none in healthy controls. The mean IFN-γconcentrations varied between 9.58 IU(50-59 yrs) and 2.58 IU(≥60 yrs),showing no trend. The differences in positivity and mean IFN-γconcentrations were statistically insignificant. Both the QFT positivity and IFN-γconcentrations were higher in normal lymphocyte percent as compared to below and above normal, but differences were not statistically significant. Conclusions:The IFN-γconcentrations are not correlated with any of the predictors of disease severity studied, the levels are significantly higher in observation group as compared to healthy group.

文摘Objective:To estimate the antidepressant, anxiolytic and antinociceptive activities of ethanol extract of Steudnera colocasiifolia K.Koch(S.colocasiifolia)leaves.Methods:Swiss albino mice treated with 1%Tween solution, standard drugs and ethanol extract of S.colocasiifolia, respectively, were subjected to the neurological and antinociceptive investigations. The tail suspension test and forced swimming test were used for testing antidepressant activity, where the parameter is the measurement of immobility time.Anxiolytic activity was evaluated by hole board model.Anti-nociceptive potential of the extract was also screened for centrally acting analgesic activity by using formalin induced licking response model and acetic acid induced writhing test was used for testing peripheral analgesic action. Results:Ethanol extract of S.colocasiifolia significantly decreased the period of immobility in both tested models(tail suspension and forced swimming models)of antidepressant activity. In the hole board model, there was a dose dependant(at 100 and 200 mg/kg)and a significant increase in the number of head dipping by comparing with control(1%Tween solution)(P<0.05 and P<0.001).In formalin induced licking model,a significant inhibition of pain compared to standard diclofenac sodium was observed(P<0.05 and P<0.001).In acetic acid induced test, there was a significant reduction of writhing response and pain in mice treated with leaves extract of S.colocasiifolia at 200 mg/kg body weight(P<0.05 and P<0.001).Conclusions:The results proofed the prospective antidepressant, anxiolytic and antinociceptive activities of ethanol extract of S.colocasiifolia leaves.
文摘An Ultra Wideband (UWB) microstrip diamond slotted patch antenna with enhanced bandwidth is presented in this paper. This antenna has surpassed the bandwidth of UWB requirement, which is from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz, and exhibits good UWB characteristics.

文摘A three Higgs-doublet model exhibiting S_(3)-symmetry can predict the observed pattern of quark masses and their mixings. We also validate the corresponding model parameter space via renormalization group evaluation.

文摘Background: Curculigo recurvata(C. recurvata) is an enthnomedicinally important herb reported to have significant medicinal values. Conclusion: An extract of the plant C. recurvata showed potential analgesic and antidiarrheal
