Background:To assess the clinical outcomes of the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens(ICL)with a central port throughout 7 years of follow-up.Methods:Eighty-four eyes of 52 patients were evaluated over a follow-up period...Background:To assess the clinical outcomes of the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens(ICL)with a central port throughout 7 years of follow-up.Methods:Eighty-four eyes of 52 patients were evaluated over a follow-up period of 7 years after V4c ICL implantation.Uncorrected(UDVA)and corrected(CDVA)distance visual acuities,refraction,intraocular pressure(IOP),endothelial cell density(ECD)and vault were analysed.Results:The mean postoperative UDVA(logMAR)was 0.04±0.11,0.13±0.19 and 0.17±0.23 at 1-,5-and 7-years,respectively(P<0.0001).The mean CDVA(logMAR)remains unchanged throughout a 7-year follow-up period(0.02±0.08 and 0.02±0.08,at 5-and 7-years,respectively,P=0.2).At all follow-up visits,more than 95%of the eyes achieved a CDVA of 20/25 or better and more than 85%a CDVA of 20/20.At the end of the follow-up(7 years),no eye lost more lines of CDVA,56 eyes(66.7%)and 28 eyes(33.3%)gained lines of CDVA.At 7-years,the spherical equivalent was−0.62±0.62 D.No significant increase in IOP(>20 mmHg or an increase higher than 5 mmHg)occurred in any case throughout the 7-year of follow-up.The loss in ECD from the preoperative baseline at the last follow-up visit was 2.6%.No intraoperative or postoperative complications or adverse events occurred during the follow-up period.Conclusions:The outcomes of this study show the long-term viability of the V4c ICL implantation as a surgical option for the correction of myopia.展开更多
Here we review the literature on the effects of molecular hydrogen (H<sub>2</sub>) on normal human subjects and patients with a variety of diagnoses, such as metabolic, rheumatic, cardiovascular and neurod...Here we review the literature on the effects of molecular hydrogen (H<sub>2</sub>) on normal human subjects and patients with a variety of diagnoses, such as metabolic, rheumatic, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative and other diseases, infections and physical and radiation damage as well as effects on aging and exercise. Although the effects of H<sub>2</sub> have been studied in multiple animal models of human disease, such studies will not be reviewed in depth here. H<sub>2</sub> can be administered as a gas, in saline implants or infusions, as topical solutions or baths or by drinking H<sub>2</sub>-enriched water. This latter method is the easiest and least costly method of administration. There are no safety issues with hydrogen;it has been used for years in gas mixtures for deep diving and in numerous clinical trials without adverse events, and there are no warnings in the literature of its toxicity or long-term exposure effects. Molecular hydrogen has proven useful and convenient as a novel antioxidant and modifier of gene expression in many conditions where oxidative stress and changes in gene expression result in cellular damage.展开更多

The present study was to evaluate the effect of trace minerals(Zn,Mn,and Cu)from complexed amino acid minerals(ZMCAA)and bis-glycinate chelated minerals(ZMCGly)in laying hen diets on performance,internal and external ...The present study was to evaluate the effect of trace minerals(Zn,Mn,and Cu)from complexed amino acid minerals(ZMCAA)and bis-glycinate chelated minerals(ZMCGly)in laying hen diets on performance,internal and external egg quality,yolk mineral deposition,intestinal morphometry,and bone characteristics.From 78 to 98 weeks of age,400 White LSL-Lite strain laying hens were distributed in a randomized design with 4 treatments with 10 replicates per treatment.Treatments were distributed in a 2×2 factorial arrangement using either Zn,Mn,and Cu of ZMCAA or ZMCGly source at 2 levels:low(20,20,and 3.5 mg/kg of Zn,Mn,and Cu,respectively)or high(40,40,and 7 mg/kg of Zn,Mn,and Cu,respectively).The analysis of variance was performed,and in cases where differences were observed,the means were compared using Tukey?s test(P<0.05).The source and level of trace mineral supplementation had a significant impact on the performance of laying hens.Hens fed ZMCAA had higher egg production(P=0.01),egg weight(P=0.02),egg mass(P=0.01),and lower feed conversion ratio(P=0.05)compared to those fed ZMCGly.The ZMCAA supplementation showed higher albumen height(P=0.01),albumen weight(P=0.01),and eggshell thickness(P<0.01).The deposition of Zn(P<0.01),Mn(P<0.01),and Cu(P<0.01)in the egg yolk was greater for hens received ZMCAA.Tibia weight(P=0.04)and bone densitometry(P<0.01)in the tibia were higher with ZMCAA supplementation.In the small intestine,ZMCAA resulted in longer villi(P=0.02)and shorter crypt depth(P=0.01)in the duodenum.Jejunum and ileum measurements were influenced by the level and source of trace minerals(P<0.05).Laying hens fed ZMCAA exhibited superior performance,egg quality,deposition of trace minerals in the egg yolk,and bone density compared to hens fed ZMCGly.In this study,older laying hens supplemented with ZMCAA at lower levels demonstrated adequate levels of supplementation.展开更多
BACKGROUND One of the most important factors to consider in relation to meniscal repair is the high failure rate reported in the existing literature.AIM To evaluate failure rates,return to sports(RTS)rate,clinical out...BACKGROUND One of the most important factors to consider in relation to meniscal repair is the high failure rate reported in the existing literature.AIM To evaluate failure rates,return to sports(RTS)rate,clinical outcomes and magnetic resonance image(MRI)evaluation after meniscus suture repair for longitudinal tears at a minimum 2-year-follow-up.METHODS We conducted a retrospective review of meniscal repairs between January 2004 and December 2018.All patients treated for longitudinal tears associated or not with an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACL-R)were included.Meniscal ramp lesions,radial and root tears,associated with multiligament injuries,tibial fracture and meniscal allograft transplants were excluded.Surgical details and failure rate,defined as symptomatic patients who underwent a revision surgery,were analyzed.As isolated bucket handle tears(BHTs)were usually associated with higher failure rates,we compared BHTs and not BHTs associated or not with an ACL-R.Since 2014,the inside-out technique using cannulas and suture needles with 2-0 Tycron began to predominate.In addition,the number of stitches per repair was increased.In view of differences in surgical technique,we compared two different cohorts:before and after 2014.We recorded the RTS according to the level achieved and the time to RTS.Lysholm and IKDC scores were recorded.Patients were studied with x-rays and MRI as standard postoperative control.RESULTS One hundred and nineteen patients were included with a mean follow up of 7 years(SD:4.08).Overall failure rate was 20.3%at a mean 20.1 mo.No statistically significant differences were found when comparing failure for medial and lateral meniscal repair(22.7%and 15.3%,P=0.36),BHTs and not BHTs(26%and 17.6%,P=0.27),isolated or associated with an ACL-R(22.9%and 18%,P=0.47),or when comparing only BHTs associated with an ACL-R(23%and 27.7%,P=0.9)or not.When comparing cohorts before and after 2014,we found a significant decrease in the overall failure rate from 26%to 11%(P<0.03).Isolated lesi展开更多

The fodder radish has a short growing cycle, is highly productive and possesses qualities that enhance its cultivation potential as an alternative in Brazil’s Biodiesel Program. However, drift of herbicides, such as glyphosate, may hinder the development of fodder radishes. Studies of chlorophyll fluorescence can provide measurements that help assess the effect of herbicide, being good indicator of the damage to photosynthetic apparatus promoted by herbicide. This study was carried out to analyze the effects of glyphosate by measuring chlorophyll a fluorescence, cellular membrane stability and chloroplast pigment contents in fodder radish plants. This experiment used a randomized block design in which the treatments consisted of the following 6 different doses: control, 0, 150, 300, 450, 600, 750 and 900 g i.a. ha-1 of the recommended 480 g·L-1 dose of glyphosate acid equivalent. The plants were sprayed 30 days after emergence and were assessed every 48 hours. The characteristics evaluated, including chlorophyll a fluorescence, chloroplast pigments and the rate of electrolyte leakage, indicated that radish plants are sensitive to glyphosate because the treatments resulted in reduced levels of photosynthetic efficiency and increased damage to cellular membranes, which led to a reduction in the chloroplast pigment content.展开更多
AIM To develop metabonomic models(MMs), using 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) spectra of serum, to predict significant liver fibrosis(SF: Metavir ≥ F2), advanced liver fibrosis(AF: METAVIR ≥ F3) and cirrhosis(C:...AIM To develop metabonomic models(MMs), using 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) spectra of serum, to predict significant liver fibrosis(SF: Metavir ≥ F2), advanced liver fibrosis(AF: METAVIR ≥ F3) and cirrhosis(C: METAVIR = F4 or clinical cirrhosis) in chronic hepatitis C(CHC) patients. Additionally, to compare the accuracy of the MMs with the aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index(APRI) and fibrosis index based on four factors(FIB-4). METHODS Sixty-nine patients who had undergone biopsy in the previous 12 mo or had clinical cirrhosis were included. The presence of any other liver disease was a criterion for exclusion. The MMs, constructed using partial least squares discriminant analysis and linear discriminant analysis formalisms, were tested by cross-validation, considering SF, AF and C. RESULTS Results showed that forty-two patients(61%) presented SF, 28(40%) AF and 18(26%) C. The MMs showed sensitivity and specificity of 97.6% and 92.6% to predict SF; 96.4% and 95.1% to predict AF; and 100% and 98.0% to predict C. Besides that, the MMs correctly classified all 27(39.7%) and 25(38.8%) patients with intermediate values of APRI and FIB-4, respectively. CONCLUSION The metabonomic strategy performed excellently in predicting significant and advanced liver fibrosis in CHC patients, including those in the gray zone of APRI and FIB-4, which may contribute to reducing the need for these patients to undergo liver biopsy.展开更多

In the Brazilian Northeast, however, production is limited by low rainfall, requiring water supplementation, a problem for the cotton cultivation practiced in the semi-arid region, due to the presence of saline ions in several water sources, from where the water is used for irrigation. It is necessary to identify cultivars that better tolerate saline stress in order to provide subsidies for their cultivation under such conditions. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the tolerance of cotton cultivars to salinity. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, belonging to the Natural Resource Technology Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Campus I, Campina Grande, Brazil, in a completely randomized design in a 2 × 5 factorial scheme, with four replications, totaling 40 experimental units (BRS 368 RF and BRS SAFIRA) submitted to five saline levels (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 and 7.5 dS·mˉ1). Irrigation with water saline of EC from 1.5 dS·mˉ1 affects adversely the growth of cotton cultivars, causing reductions in plant height, stem diameter, leaf area and number of leaves. Saline stress reduced the levels of the photosynthetic pigments of the cotton plants studied.展开更多
BACKGROUND Partial tears of the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)are frequent,and there is still considerable controversy surrounding their diagnosis,natural history and treatment.AIM To examine patient-reported outcome...BACKGROUND Partial tears of the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)are frequent,and there is still considerable controversy surrounding their diagnosis,natural history and treatment.AIM To examine patient-reported outcomes,physical examination and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)findings of partial ACL tears treated with an intraarticular injection of platelet-rich plasma(PRP)compared to a control group.METHODS From January 2015 to November 2017,consecutive patients from a single institution with partial ACL tears treated nonoperatively were prospectively evaluated.Partial tears were defined as a positive Lachman test with a clear endpoint,a negative pivot-shift and less than 3 mm of side-to-side difference using the KT1000 arthrometer.Patients in group 1 were treated with one intraarticular injection of PRP and specific physical therapy protocol.Control group consisted of patients treated only with physical therapy.Prospective analyzed data included physical examination,Tegner activity level and Lysholm and International Knee Documentation Committee scores.Baseline MRI findings and at 6 mo follow-up were reviewed.Failure was defined as those patients with clinical instability at follow-up that required a subsequent ACL reconstruction.RESULTS A total of 40 patients where included,21 treated with PRP injection with a mean follow-up of 25 mo[standard deviation(SD):3.6]and 19 in the control group with a mean follow-up of 25 mo(SD:5.68).Overall failure rate was 32.0%(n=13).No significant differences were observed between groups regarding subjective outcomes,return to sport and failure rate.MRI findings revealed an improvement in the ACL signal in half of the patients of both groups.However,we did not find a significant relationship between MRI findings and clinical outcomes.CONCLUSION Overall,95.0%of patients returned to sports at a mean follow-up of 25 mo.Mean time to return to sports was 4 mo.Out of these patients,almost 30.0%in each group had a new episode of instability and required surgery at a median time of 5 mo in展开更多
BACKGROUND Many studies evaluated magnification endoscopy(ME)to correlate changes on the gastric mucosal surface with Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection.However,few studies validated these concepts with high-defin...BACKGROUND Many studies evaluated magnification endoscopy(ME)to correlate changes on the gastric mucosal surface with Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection.However,few studies validated these concepts with high-definition endoscopy without ME.AIM To access the association between mucosal surface pattern under near focus technology and H.pylori infection status in a western population.METHODS Cross-sectional study including all patients referred to routine upper endoscopy.Endoscopic exams were performed using standard high definition(S-HD)followed by near focus(NF-HD)examination.Presence of erythema,erosion,atrophy,and nodularity were recorded during S-HD,and surface mucosal pattern was classified using NF-HD in the gastric body.Biopsies were taken for rapid urease test and histology.RESULTS One hundred and eighty-seven patients were analyzed from August to November 2019.Of those,47(25.1%)were H.pylori+,and 42(22.5%)had a previous H.pylori treatment.In the examination with S-HD,erythema had the best sensitivity for H.pylori detection(80.9%).Exudate(99.3%),nodularity(97.1%),and atrophy(95.7%)demonstrated better specificity values,but with low sensitivity(6.4%-19.1%).On the other hand,the absence of erythema was strongly associated with H.pylori-(negative predictive value=92%).With NF-HD,56.2%of patients presented type 1 pattern(regular arrangement of collecting venules,RAC),and only 5.7%of RAC+patients were H.pylori+.The loss of RAC presented 87.2%sensitivity for H.pylori detection,70.7%specificity,50%positive predictive value,and 94.3%negative predictive value,indicating that loss of RAC was suboptimal to confirm H.pylori infection,but when RAC was seen,H.pylori infection was unlikely.CONCLUSION The presence of RAC at the NF-HD exam and the absence of erythema at S-HD were highly predictive of H.pylori negative status.On the other hand,the loss of RAC had a suboptimal correlation with the presence of H.pylori.展开更多
BACKGROUND Between 43%and 75%of patients who undergo primary anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)surgery return to sport activity.However,after a revision ACL reconstruction(ACLR)the rate of return to sports is variable.A ...BACKGROUND Between 43%and 75%of patients who undergo primary anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)surgery return to sport activity.However,after a revision ACL reconstruction(ACLR)the rate of return to sports is variable.A few publications have reported returns to sports incidence between 56%to 100%after revision ACLR.AIM To determine return to sports and functional outcomes after a single-stage revision ACLR with a 5-year minimum follow-up at a single institution.METHODS All patients operated between 2010 and 2016 with a minimum 5 years of followup were included.Type of sport,intensity,frequency,expectation,time to return to sport and failure rate were recorded.Lysholm,Tegner and International Knee Documentation Committee forms were evaluated prior to the first ACLR surgery,at 6 mo after primary surgery and after revision ACLR at 5 years minimum of follow-up.Objective stability was tested with the knee arthrometer test(KT-1000 knee arthrometer,Medmetric Corp).RESULTS A total of 41 patients who underwent revision ACLR during that period of time were contacted and available for follow-up.Median patient age at time of revision was 29 years old[interquartile range(IQR):24.0-36.0],and 39(95.0%)were male.The median time from revision procedure to follow-up was 70 mo(IQR:58.0-81.0).Regarding return to sports,16(39.0%)were at the same level compared to preinjury period,and 25 patients(61.0%)returned at a lower level.Sixty-three percent categorized the sport as very important and 37.0%as important.One patient(2.4%)failed with a recurrent ACL torn.Mean preoperative Lysholm and(SD)16]and 50(SD 11),respectively.At follow-up,mean Lysholm and subjective International Knee Documentation Committee scores were 89(SD 8)and 82(SD 9)(P=0.0001).Mean Tegner score prior to primary ACLR was 6.7(SD 1.3),5.1(1.5 SD)prior to revision ACLR and 5.6(1.6 SD)at follow-up(P=0.0002).Overall,knee arthrometer test measurement showed an average of 6 mm(IQR:4.0-6.0)side-to-side difference of displacement prior to revision ACLR and 3mm(IQR:1.5-4.0)after re展开更多

The objective was to evaluate the establishment and multiplication in vitro and ex vitro acclimatization of grape genotypes with potential for Southern Brazil. Vine nodal segments were cultured in five culture medium formulations without adding growth regulators. It was evaluated the number of leaves and roots, length of roots and shoots, replication rate, relative chlorophyll index, percentage of regenerated and rooted plants, dry biomass of shoot, root and total plants grown in vitro and after acclimatization. In vitro propagation of IAC 571-6 rootstock and cv. Poloskei Muskotaly through nodal segments provided high rates of regeneration and rooting. High survival rates were obtained in the acclimatization of IAC 571-6 and P?l?skei Muskotaly. Considering all the variables, the culture medium Roubelakis showed the best growth rates and development for shoots and roots, and in vitro multiplication rate for IAC 571-6 and Poloskei Muskotaly grape varieties.展开更多

One treatment option is the clinical phototherapy, and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is being widely used. This study aims to evaluate the effect of PDT on the healing of skin wounds in rats. We used a sample of 39 male rats Wistar divided into three groups, a control, a PDT-treated green and red with the last PDT. After 24 hours before the surgical incisions, PDT was used in both groups for 6 minutes and was evaluated in histological level, the inflammatory reaction and the repair process. The results showed that the granulation tissue was more developed in the irradiated group than in the control group and the amount of chronic inflammatory cells (monocytes, macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells) predominated with green phototherapy. The epithelialization in the wound margins and scarring with better quality occurred with red PDT (640 nm), which the higher deposition was of collagen. However, phototherapy not collimated of 640 nm (red) resulted in better anti-inflammatory effects. Given these answers with phototherapy not collimated green (525 nm) and red (640 nm), we conclude that the use of these wavelengths is possible with benefits, mainly with red LED.展开更多
Krukenberg tumor is a rare ovarian metastatic cancer from the gastrointestinal tract. It accounts for 1%-5% of malignant tumors of the ovaries, usually being bilateral, of solid consistency and may have cystic areas. The World Health Organization (WHO) defined it as an ovarian metastasis when the mucus-secreting cells of “signet ring” are present, associated with sarcomatous stromal proliferation. We present a 58-year-old woman with the diagnosis of peripheric cholangiocarcinoma with ovarian metastasis, showing history of pain and increased abdominal volume. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed multiple hepatic solid nodules with predominantly peripheral, centripetal and progressive enhancement, demonstrating hipersignal and restriction on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). In the anexial region, bulky heterogeneous multiloculated cystic formations with solid components, of probable ovarian origin, were noted. Biopsy of the liver nodules confirmed the diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma.展开更多

However, information about hematological adjustments and its implications to ionic regulation patters are scarce. Therefore, our aim was to analyzed A. gigas hematological parameters when exposed to BW and WW providing suitable hematological data concerning about physiological responses in Amazonian waters. Fish were acclimated in three separated ponds containing BW, WW and well water as control (C). Blood samples were taken from the caudal vessel in order to perform measurement assays on levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, corpuscular hemoglobin, corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, glucose, cholesterol and protein. Our findings corroborate the hypothesis stating that BW does interfere on fish adaptation specialy in smallfish (-100 g). However in largefish (-1,000 g) neither WW or BW can interfere on plasma profile of analysed fish. Despite black water systems being considered a barrier constraining the dispersion of several species, this seems not to be a problem for this specie which has kept its ion-regulatory mechanisms even in black waters.展开更多

文摘Background:To assess the clinical outcomes of the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens(ICL)with a central port throughout 7 years of follow-up.Methods:Eighty-four eyes of 52 patients were evaluated over a follow-up period of 7 years after V4c ICL implantation.Uncorrected(UDVA)and corrected(CDVA)distance visual acuities,refraction,intraocular pressure(IOP),endothelial cell density(ECD)and vault were analysed.Results:The mean postoperative UDVA(logMAR)was 0.04±0.11,0.13±0.19 and 0.17±0.23 at 1-,5-and 7-years,respectively(P<0.0001).The mean CDVA(logMAR)remains unchanged throughout a 7-year follow-up period(0.02±0.08 and 0.02±0.08,at 5-and 7-years,respectively,P=0.2).At all follow-up visits,more than 95%of the eyes achieved a CDVA of 20/25 or better and more than 85%a CDVA of 20/20.At the end of the follow-up(7 years),no eye lost more lines of CDVA,56 eyes(66.7%)and 28 eyes(33.3%)gained lines of CDVA.At 7-years,the spherical equivalent was−0.62±0.62 D.No significant increase in IOP(>20 mmHg or an increase higher than 5 mmHg)occurred in any case throughout the 7-year of follow-up.The loss in ECD from the preoperative baseline at the last follow-up visit was 2.6%.No intraoperative or postoperative complications or adverse events occurred during the follow-up period.Conclusions:The outcomes of this study show the long-term viability of the V4c ICL implantation as a surgical option for the correction of myopia.
文摘Here we review the literature on the effects of molecular hydrogen (H<sub>2</sub>) on normal human subjects and patients with a variety of diagnoses, such as metabolic, rheumatic, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative and other diseases, infections and physical and radiation damage as well as effects on aging and exercise. Although the effects of H<sub>2</sub> have been studied in multiple animal models of human disease, such studies will not be reviewed in depth here. H<sub>2</sub> can be administered as a gas, in saline implants or infusions, as topical solutions or baths or by drinking H<sub>2</sub>-enriched water. This latter method is the easiest and least costly method of administration. There are no safety issues with hydrogen;it has been used for years in gas mixtures for deep diving and in numerous clinical trials without adverse events, and there are no warnings in the literature of its toxicity or long-term exposure effects. Molecular hydrogen has proven useful and convenient as a novel antioxidant and modifier of gene expression in many conditions where oxidative stress and changes in gene expression result in cellular damage.

文摘The stability and productivity concerning a modification on the traditional room and pillar for a new selective technique at the Portuguese Panasqueira Mine have been described.The traditional room-and-pillar stoping uses 5.0-m wide rooms with 3.0 m×3.0 m pillars,while the selective room-and-pillar mining technique consists in stoping with rooms of 4.0 m wide and pillars of 4 m×4 m with a subsequent selective cutting of the quartz veins at the mid pillar of approximately 0.5 m high,to obtain a pillar section with an area of 3.0 m×3.0 m.The stability and productivity analyses indicate that the selective technique obtains smaller average pillar safety factor,more rock mass displacement,more extraction and selectivity ratios,and ore grade improvement,compared with the traditional technique.These results show that the selective technique is also more convenient.This proposed selective room-and-pillar mining technique is applicable to any sub-horizontal narrow quartz veins with wolfram,gold,etc.such as the famous La Rinconada gold mine in the Peruvian Andes.

文摘The Circular Electron Positron Collider(CEPC)is a large scientific project initiated and hosted by China,fostered through extensive collaboration with international partners.The complex comprises four accelerators:a 30 GeV Linac,a 1.1 GeV Damping Ring,a Booster capable of achieving energies up to 180 GeV,and a Collider operating at varying energy modes(Z,W,H,and tt).The Linac and Damping Ring are situated on the surface,while the subterranean Booster and Collider are housed in a 100 km circumference underground tunnel,strategically accommodating future expansion with provisions for a potential Super Proton Proton Collider(SPPC).The CEPC primarily serves as a Higgs factory.In its baseline design with synchrotron radiation(SR)power of 30 MW per beam,it can achieve a luminosity of 5×10^(34)cm^(-2)s^(-1)per interaction point(IP),resulting in an integrated luminosity of 13 ab^(-1)for two IPs over a decade,producing 2.6 million Higgs bosons.Increasing the SR power to 50 MW per beam expands the CEPC's capability to generate 4.3 million Higgs bosons,facilitating precise measurements of Higgs coupling at sub-percent levels,exceeding the precision expected from the HL-LHC by an order of magnitude.This Technical Design Report(TDR)follows the Preliminary Conceptual Design Report(Pre-CDR,2015)and the Conceptual Design Report(CDR,2018),comprehensively detailing the machine's layout,performance metrics,physical design and analysis,technical systems design,R&D and prototyping efforts,and associated civil engineering aspects.Additionally,it includes a cost estimate and a preliminary construction timeline,establishing a framework for forthcoming engineering design phase and site selection procedures.Construction is anticipated to begin around 2027-2028,pending government approval,with an estimated duration of 8 years.The commencement of experiments and data collection could potentially be initiated in the mid-2030s.

文摘The present study was to evaluate the effect of trace minerals(Zn,Mn,and Cu)from complexed amino acid minerals(ZMCAA)and bis-glycinate chelated minerals(ZMCGly)in laying hen diets on performance,internal and external egg quality,yolk mineral deposition,intestinal morphometry,and bone characteristics.From 78 to 98 weeks of age,400 White LSL-Lite strain laying hens were distributed in a randomized design with 4 treatments with 10 replicates per treatment.Treatments were distributed in a 2×2 factorial arrangement using either Zn,Mn,and Cu of ZMCAA or ZMCGly source at 2 levels:low(20,20,and 3.5 mg/kg of Zn,Mn,and Cu,respectively)or high(40,40,and 7 mg/kg of Zn,Mn,and Cu,respectively).The analysis of variance was performed,and in cases where differences were observed,the means were compared using Tukey?s test(P<0.05).The source and level of trace mineral supplementation had a significant impact on the performance of laying hens.Hens fed ZMCAA had higher egg production(P=0.01),egg weight(P=0.02),egg mass(P=0.01),and lower feed conversion ratio(P=0.05)compared to those fed ZMCGly.The ZMCAA supplementation showed higher albumen height(P=0.01),albumen weight(P=0.01),and eggshell thickness(P<0.01).The deposition of Zn(P<0.01),Mn(P<0.01),and Cu(P<0.01)in the egg yolk was greater for hens received ZMCAA.Tibia weight(P=0.04)and bone densitometry(P<0.01)in the tibia were higher with ZMCAA supplementation.In the small intestine,ZMCAA resulted in longer villi(P=0.02)and shorter crypt depth(P=0.01)in the duodenum.Jejunum and ileum measurements were influenced by the level and source of trace minerals(P<0.05).Laying hens fed ZMCAA exhibited superior performance,egg quality,deposition of trace minerals in the egg yolk,and bone density compared to hens fed ZMCGly.In this study,older laying hens supplemented with ZMCAA at lower levels demonstrated adequate levels of supplementation.
文摘BACKGROUND One of the most important factors to consider in relation to meniscal repair is the high failure rate reported in the existing literature.AIM To evaluate failure rates,return to sports(RTS)rate,clinical outcomes and magnetic resonance image(MRI)evaluation after meniscus suture repair for longitudinal tears at a minimum 2-year-follow-up.METHODS We conducted a retrospective review of meniscal repairs between January 2004 and December 2018.All patients treated for longitudinal tears associated or not with an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACL-R)were included.Meniscal ramp lesions,radial and root tears,associated with multiligament injuries,tibial fracture and meniscal allograft transplants were excluded.Surgical details and failure rate,defined as symptomatic patients who underwent a revision surgery,were analyzed.As isolated bucket handle tears(BHTs)were usually associated with higher failure rates,we compared BHTs and not BHTs associated or not with an ACL-R.Since 2014,the inside-out technique using cannulas and suture needles with 2-0 Tycron began to predominate.In addition,the number of stitches per repair was increased.In view of differences in surgical technique,we compared two different cohorts:before and after 2014.We recorded the RTS according to the level achieved and the time to RTS.Lysholm and IKDC scores were recorded.Patients were studied with x-rays and MRI as standard postoperative control.RESULTS One hundred and nineteen patients were included with a mean follow up of 7 years(SD:4.08).Overall failure rate was 20.3%at a mean 20.1 mo.No statistically significant differences were found when comparing failure for medial and lateral meniscal repair(22.7%and 15.3%,P=0.36),BHTs and not BHTs(26%and 17.6%,P=0.27),isolated or associated with an ACL-R(22.9%and 18%,P=0.47),or when comparing only BHTs associated with an ACL-R(23%and 27.7%,P=0.9)or not.When comparing cohorts before and after 2014,we found a significant decrease in the overall failure rate from 26%to 11%(P<0.03).Isolated lesi

文摘The fodder radish is an important alternative late summer crop in central-western Brazil. The fodder radish has a short growing cycle, is highly productive and possesses qualities that enhance its cultivation potential as an alternative in Brazil’s Biodiesel Program. However, drift of herbicides, such as glyphosate, may hinder the development of fodder radishes. Studies of chlorophyll fluorescence can provide measurements that help assess the effect of herbicide, being good indicator of the damage to photosynthetic apparatus promoted by herbicide. This study was carried out to analyze the effects of glyphosate by measuring chlorophyll a fluorescence, cellular membrane stability and chloroplast pigment contents in fodder radish plants. This experiment used a randomized block design in which the treatments consisted of the following 6 different doses: control, 0, 150, 300, 450, 600, 750 and 900 g i.a. ha-1 of the recommended 480 g·L-1 dose of glyphosate acid equivalent. The plants were sprayed 30 days after emergence and were assessed every 48 hours. The characteristics evaluated, including chlorophyll a fluorescence, chloroplast pigments and the rate of electrolyte leakage, indicated that radish plants are sensitive to glyphosate because the treatments resulted in reduced levels of photosynthetic efficiency and increased damage to cellular membranes, which led to a reduction in the chloroplast pigment content.
文摘AIM To develop metabonomic models(MMs), using 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) spectra of serum, to predict significant liver fibrosis(SF: Metavir ≥ F2), advanced liver fibrosis(AF: METAVIR ≥ F3) and cirrhosis(C: METAVIR = F4 or clinical cirrhosis) in chronic hepatitis C(CHC) patients. Additionally, to compare the accuracy of the MMs with the aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index(APRI) and fibrosis index based on four factors(FIB-4). METHODS Sixty-nine patients who had undergone biopsy in the previous 12 mo or had clinical cirrhosis were included. The presence of any other liver disease was a criterion for exclusion. The MMs, constructed using partial least squares discriminant analysis and linear discriminant analysis formalisms, were tested by cross-validation, considering SF, AF and C. RESULTS Results showed that forty-two patients(61%) presented SF, 28(40%) AF and 18(26%) C. The MMs showed sensitivity and specificity of 97.6% and 92.6% to predict SF; 96.4% and 95.1% to predict AF; and 100% and 98.0% to predict C. Besides that, the MMs correctly classified all 27(39.7%) and 25(38.8%) patients with intermediate values of APRI and FIB-4, respectively. CONCLUSION The metabonomic strategy performed excellently in predicting significant and advanced liver fibrosis in CHC patients, including those in the gray zone of APRI and FIB-4, which may contribute to reducing the need for these patients to undergo liver biopsy.

文摘In the era of Big Data,many NoSQL databases emerged for the storage and later processing of vast volumes of data,using data structures that can follow columnar,key-value,document or graph formats.For analytical contexts,requiring a Big Data Warehouse,Hive is used as the driving force,allowing the analysis of vast amounts of data.Data models in Hive are usually defined taking into consideration the queries that need to be answered.In this work,a set of rules is presented for the transformation of multidimensional data models into Hive tables,making available data at different levels of detail.These several levels are suited for answering different queries,depending on the analytical needs.After the identification of the Hive tables,this paper summarizes a demonstration case in which the implementation of a specific Big Data architecture shows how the evolution from a traditional Data Warehouse to a Big Data Warehouse is possible.
文摘The cultivation of cotton is a relevant socioeconomic activity in the Brazilian agricultural scenario. In the Brazilian Northeast, however, production is limited by low rainfall, requiring water supplementation, a problem for the cotton cultivation practiced in the semi-arid region, due to the presence of saline ions in several water sources, from where the water is used for irrigation. It is necessary to identify cultivars that better tolerate saline stress in order to provide subsidies for their cultivation under such conditions. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the tolerance of cotton cultivars to salinity. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, belonging to the Natural Resource Technology Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande, Campus I, Campina Grande, Brazil, in a completely randomized design in a 2 × 5 factorial scheme, with four replications, totaling 40 experimental units (BRS 368 RF and BRS SAFIRA) submitted to five saline levels (1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 and 7.5 dS·mˉ1). Irrigation with water saline of EC from 1.5 dS·mˉ1 affects adversely the growth of cotton cultivars, causing reductions in plant height, stem diameter, leaf area and number of leaves. Saline stress reduced the levels of the photosynthetic pigments of the cotton plants studied.
文摘BACKGROUND Partial tears of the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)are frequent,and there is still considerable controversy surrounding their diagnosis,natural history and treatment.AIM To examine patient-reported outcomes,physical examination and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)findings of partial ACL tears treated with an intraarticular injection of platelet-rich plasma(PRP)compared to a control group.METHODS From January 2015 to November 2017,consecutive patients from a single institution with partial ACL tears treated nonoperatively were prospectively evaluated.Partial tears were defined as a positive Lachman test with a clear endpoint,a negative pivot-shift and less than 3 mm of side-to-side difference using the KT1000 arthrometer.Patients in group 1 were treated with one intraarticular injection of PRP and specific physical therapy protocol.Control group consisted of patients treated only with physical therapy.Prospective analyzed data included physical examination,Tegner activity level and Lysholm and International Knee Documentation Committee scores.Baseline MRI findings and at 6 mo follow-up were reviewed.Failure was defined as those patients with clinical instability at follow-up that required a subsequent ACL reconstruction.RESULTS A total of 40 patients where included,21 treated with PRP injection with a mean follow-up of 25 mo[standard deviation(SD):3.6]and 19 in the control group with a mean follow-up of 25 mo(SD:5.68).Overall failure rate was 32.0%(n=13).No significant differences were observed between groups regarding subjective outcomes,return to sport and failure rate.MRI findings revealed an improvement in the ACL signal in half of the patients of both groups.However,we did not find a significant relationship between MRI findings and clinical outcomes.CONCLUSION Overall,95.0%of patients returned to sports at a mean follow-up of 25 mo.Mean time to return to sports was 4 mo.Out of these patients,almost 30.0%in each group had a new episode of instability and required surgery at a median time of 5 mo in
文摘BACKGROUND Many studies evaluated magnification endoscopy(ME)to correlate changes on the gastric mucosal surface with Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection.However,few studies validated these concepts with high-definition endoscopy without ME.AIM To access the association between mucosal surface pattern under near focus technology and H.pylori infection status in a western population.METHODS Cross-sectional study including all patients referred to routine upper endoscopy.Endoscopic exams were performed using standard high definition(S-HD)followed by near focus(NF-HD)examination.Presence of erythema,erosion,atrophy,and nodularity were recorded during S-HD,and surface mucosal pattern was classified using NF-HD in the gastric body.Biopsies were taken for rapid urease test and histology.RESULTS One hundred and eighty-seven patients were analyzed from August to November 2019.Of those,47(25.1%)were H.pylori+,and 42(22.5%)had a previous H.pylori treatment.In the examination with S-HD,erythema had the best sensitivity for H.pylori detection(80.9%).Exudate(99.3%),nodularity(97.1%),and atrophy(95.7%)demonstrated better specificity values,but with low sensitivity(6.4%-19.1%).On the other hand,the absence of erythema was strongly associated with H.pylori-(negative predictive value=92%).With NF-HD,56.2%of patients presented type 1 pattern(regular arrangement of collecting venules,RAC),and only 5.7%of RAC+patients were H.pylori+.The loss of RAC presented 87.2%sensitivity for H.pylori detection,70.7%specificity,50%positive predictive value,and 94.3%negative predictive value,indicating that loss of RAC was suboptimal to confirm H.pylori infection,but when RAC was seen,H.pylori infection was unlikely.CONCLUSION The presence of RAC at the NF-HD exam and the absence of erythema at S-HD were highly predictive of H.pylori negative status.On the other hand,the loss of RAC had a suboptimal correlation with the presence of H.pylori.
文摘BACKGROUND Between 43%and 75%of patients who undergo primary anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)surgery return to sport activity.However,after a revision ACL reconstruction(ACLR)the rate of return to sports is variable.A few publications have reported returns to sports incidence between 56%to 100%after revision ACLR.AIM To determine return to sports and functional outcomes after a single-stage revision ACLR with a 5-year minimum follow-up at a single institution.METHODS All patients operated between 2010 and 2016 with a minimum 5 years of followup were included.Type of sport,intensity,frequency,expectation,time to return to sport and failure rate were recorded.Lysholm,Tegner and International Knee Documentation Committee forms were evaluated prior to the first ACLR surgery,at 6 mo after primary surgery and after revision ACLR at 5 years minimum of follow-up.Objective stability was tested with the knee arthrometer test(KT-1000 knee arthrometer,Medmetric Corp).RESULTS A total of 41 patients who underwent revision ACLR during that period of time were contacted and available for follow-up.Median patient age at time of revision was 29 years old[interquartile range(IQR):24.0-36.0],and 39(95.0%)were male.The median time from revision procedure to follow-up was 70 mo(IQR:58.0-81.0).Regarding return to sports,16(39.0%)were at the same level compared to preinjury period,and 25 patients(61.0%)returned at a lower level.Sixty-three percent categorized the sport as very important and 37.0%as important.One patient(2.4%)failed with a recurrent ACL torn.Mean preoperative Lysholm and(SD)16]and 50(SD 11),respectively.At follow-up,mean Lysholm and subjective International Knee Documentation Committee scores were 89(SD 8)and 82(SD 9)(P=0.0001).Mean Tegner score prior to primary ACLR was 6.7(SD 1.3),5.1(1.5 SD)prior to revision ACLR and 5.6(1.6 SD)at follow-up(P=0.0002).Overall,knee arthrometer test measurement showed an average of 6 mm(IQR:4.0-6.0)side-to-side difference of displacement prior to revision ACLR and 3mm(IQR:1.5-4.0)after re
文摘Despite the advances in the hematology field, blood transfusion-related iatrogenesis is still a major issue to be considered during such procedures due to blood antigenic incompatibility. This places pluripotent stem cells as a possible ally in the production of more suitable blood products. The present review article aims to provide a comprehensive summary of the state-of-theart concerning the differentiation of both embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells to hematopoietic cell lines. Here, we review the most recently published protocols to achieve the production of blood cells for future application in hemotherapy, cancer therapy and basic research.
文摘In this paper, data analysis and modeling of gamma ray tomography taken into account spatial resolution and source of errors and the attenuation coefficient measurement in row data from tomography process are presented. The results showed that this method is simple, effective and should be prior to any data treatment for opaque vessel reactor and by reconstruction algorithm in process imaging.
文摘Acute kidney injury(AKI) is associated with extended hospital stays,high risks of in-hospital and long-term mortality,and increased risk of incident and progressive chronic kidney disease.Patients with urological diseases are a high-risk group for AKI owing to the coexistence of obstructive uropathy,older age,and preexistent chronic kidney disease.Nonetheless,precise data on the incidence and outcomes of postoperative AKI in urological procedures are lacking.Benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer are common diagnoses in older men and are frequently treated with surgical procedures.Whereas severe AKI after prostate surgery in general appears to be unusual,AKI associated with transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP) syndrome and with rhabdomyolysis(RM) after radical prostatectomy have been frequently described.The purpose of this review is to discuss the current knowledge regarding the epidemiology,risk factors,outcomes,prevention,and treatment of AKI associated with prostatic surgery.The mechanisms of TURP syndrome and RM following prostatic surgeries will be emphasized.
文摘The micropropation is an important biotechnological tool for obtaining and maintaining mother vine plants with high quality plant health. The objective was to evaluate the establishment and multiplication in vitro and ex vitro acclimatization of grape genotypes with potential for Southern Brazil. Vine nodal segments were cultured in five culture medium formulations without adding growth regulators. It was evaluated the number of leaves and roots, length of roots and shoots, replication rate, relative chlorophyll index, percentage of regenerated and rooted plants, dry biomass of shoot, root and total plants grown in vitro and after acclimatization. In vitro propagation of IAC 571-6 rootstock and cv. Poloskei Muskotaly through nodal segments provided high rates of regeneration and rooting. High survival rates were obtained in the acclimatization of IAC 571-6 and P?l?skei Muskotaly. Considering all the variables, the culture medium Roubelakis showed the best growth rates and development for shoots and roots, and in vitro multiplication rate for IAC 571-6 and Poloskei Muskotaly grape varieties.
文摘Photodynamic therapy today is becoming an important role in the healing of lacerated tissues, since it has therapeutic resources capable of accelerating this process. One treatment option is the clinical phototherapy, and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is being widely used. This study aims to evaluate the effect of PDT on the healing of skin wounds in rats. We used a sample of 39 male rats Wistar divided into three groups, a control, a PDT-treated green and red with the last PDT. After 24 hours before the surgical incisions, PDT was used in both groups for 6 minutes and was evaluated in histological level, the inflammatory reaction and the repair process. The results showed that the granulation tissue was more developed in the irradiated group than in the control group and the amount of chronic inflammatory cells (monocytes, macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells) predominated with green phototherapy. The epithelialization in the wound margins and scarring with better quality occurred with red PDT (640 nm), which the higher deposition was of collagen. However, phototherapy not collimated of 640 nm (red) resulted in better anti-inflammatory effects. Given these answers with phototherapy not collimated green (525 nm) and red (640 nm), we conclude that the use of these wavelengths is possible with benefits, mainly with red LED.
文摘Krukenberg tumor is a rare ovarian metastatic cancer from the gastrointestinal tract. It accounts for 1%-5% of malignant tumors of the ovaries, usually being bilateral, of solid consistency and may have cystic areas. The World Health Organization (WHO) defined it as an ovarian metastasis when the mucus-secreting cells of “signet ring” are present, associated with sarcomatous stromal proliferation. We present a 58-year-old woman with the diagnosis of peripheric cholangiocarcinoma with ovarian metastasis, showing history of pain and increased abdominal volume. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed multiple hepatic solid nodules with predominantly peripheral, centripetal and progressive enhancement, demonstrating hipersignal and restriction on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). In the anexial region, bulky heterogeneous multiloculated cystic formations with solid components, of probable ovarian origin, were noted. Biopsy of the liver nodules confirmed the diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma.
文摘The Arapaima gigas, despite being an air breather, its gill structure is quite close to water breathers, especially in early stages of development. The effects of Amazonian waters is well notices in other Teleostei expose to BW (black water), and WW (white water). However, information about hematological adjustments and its implications to ionic regulation patters are scarce. Therefore, our aim was to analyzed A. gigas hematological parameters when exposed to BW and WW providing suitable hematological data concerning about physiological responses in Amazonian waters. Fish were acclimated in three separated ponds containing BW, WW and well water as control (C). Blood samples were taken from the caudal vessel in order to perform measurement assays on levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume, corpuscular hemoglobin, corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, glucose, cholesterol and protein. Our findings corroborate the hypothesis stating that BW does interfere on fish adaptation specialy in smallfish (-100 g). However in largefish (-1,000 g) neither WW or BW can interfere on plasma profile of analysed fish. Despite black water systems being considered a barrier constraining the dispersion of several species, this seems not to be a problem for this specie which has kept its ion-regulatory mechanisms even in black waters.
