Knowledge transfer(KT)is an attempt by an entity to copy and utilize an explicit type of knowledge from another entity.The main reason is none other than to expand the ability and increasing the value through inter-or...Knowledge transfer(KT)is an attempt by an entity to copy and utilize an explicit type of knowledge from another entity.The main reason is none other than to expand the ability and increasing the value through inter-organization collaborative affiliation.Nonetheless,questions may arise as to what extent do capabilities,mechanism and performance or success is associated.Using inputs from 154 respondents which consist of various KTP(knowledge transfer program)partners namely from the community(total 94)and industry(total 60),this article highlights the associations between the three main categories of variables.Using Smart PLS(partial least squares),the study provides evidence that academia knowledge,academia readiness,academia skills,and ethics and conduct affect KTP performance through the mediation role of KT mechanism.Academia readiness was also found to be the most significant predictor to KT mechanism.In summary,all the significant capabilities have indirect positive impact towards KTP performance.Thus,higher education institutions must emphasize their internal strength in order to continue supporting the success of inter-organization collaborative affiliation.展开更多
The effect of different combinations of botanical spices such as clove and nutmeg in different proportion on the antioxidants activities which include lipid peroxidation(LPO),superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),gl...The effect of different combinations of botanical spices such as clove and nutmeg in different proportion on the antioxidants activities which include lipid peroxidation(LPO),superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT),glutathione-S-transferase(GST)and glutathione peroxide(GPX)in juveniles and adults sizes of Clarias gariepinus was investigated using different combinations of clove(C),and nutmeg(C.N 0:0-Control 0%of Clove and Nutmeg;C.N 1:3-25%Clove and 75%Nutmeg;C.N 3:1-75%Clove and 25%Nutmeg;C.N 2:2-50%Clove and 50%Nutmeg;C.4-100%Clove;N4-100%)in triplicates.The results from the study indicated that the anaesthetic caused a substantial(p<0.05)modifications in the five antioxidants under examination.The highest deviations in the studied antioxidants were observed in the fish exposed to C4 combination of the anaesthetics and the lowest in the control.The results from this work therefore suggest that the anaesthetics can alter antioxidants levels in the fish which was more noticeable in the fish exposed to C.N 3:1-75%Clove and 25%Nutmeg;C.N 2:2-50%Clove and 50%Nutmeg;C.4-100%Clove;N4-100%.Hence fish farmers and scientists are advised to take caution when combining these plant extracts for use in aquaculture.展开更多

Reports describing adverse neurological event...There are no special recommendations for basic vaccinations in patients with c hronic neurological deficits distinct from the nationwide advocated schedule in Switzerland. Reports describing adverse neurological events possibly related to vaccinations have attracted public attention. It is unclear if patients with chr onic neurological deficits are more reluctantly vaccinated compared to healthy c hildren. We therefore investigated the acceptance of vaccinations in such patien ts and healthy controls in a retrospective case-control study. At the Universit y Children’s Hospital, Basel, Switzerland we investigated 100 patients with chr onic neurological deficits and 200 age-matched healthy controls regarding the i ssue of vaccination rates and ages. The total number of administered vaccination s against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b ( Hib), mumps, measles, rubella and hepatitis B were significantly lower in patien ts compared to healthy controls ( P< 0.01 for each of the respective vaccines). Patients had an increased risk to receive the third pertussis, diphtheria, and t etanus vaccinations (relative risks (RR) for late vaccination 1.53, 1.53, and 1. 54 respectively, P < 0.01 for all comparisons), the second (RR=1.60, P < 0.05) a nd third Hib vaccinations (RR=1.52, P < 0.05), and the third polio vac cination (RR=1.43, P < 0.05) later than controls. Conclusion:Children with chr onic neurological deficits received fewer vaccinations than healthy controls. In addition, patients received vaccinations later than healthy children. Hence, it may be assumed that children with chronic neurological deficits are at an incre ased risk to acquire preventable infections. Opencast lignite mining in the Lusatia region of Germany has resulted in large scale landscape disturbances, which require suitable recultivation techniques in order to promote plant growth and establishment in the re...Opencast lignite mining in the Lusatia region of Germany has resulted in large scale landscape disturbances, which require suitable recultivation techniques in order to promote plant growth and establishment in the remaining nutrient-poor substrates with low water-holding capacity. Thus, the effects of two commercial soil additives (CSA), a hydrophilic polymer mixed with volcanic rock flour and bentonite (a-CSA), and digester solids from biogas plants enriched with humic acids and bentonite (b-CSA), on soil organic carbon (SOC) storage, plant yields and root biomass were assessed after cultivating perennial crops (Dactylis 9lornerata L.) in monoculture and Helianthus annuus L.-Brassica napus L. in crop rotation systems. The CSA were incorporated into the top 20 cm soil depth using a rotary spader. The results indicated that a-CSA led to a significant increase in plant yield during the first year, and improved root biomass in the following year. As a result, SOC stocks increased, especially in the 0 10 cm soil layer. No significant sequestration of additional SOC was observed on b-CSA-amended plots at the end of both years. Bulk density values decreased in all treatments under the monoculture system. It can be concluded that application of a-CSA enhanced soil water availability for plant uptake and consequently promoted plant growth and organic carbon sequestration. The relative enrichment of organic matter without effects on water-holding capacities of b-CSA treatments suggested that it was not suitable for rapid land reclamation.展开更多

In this paper,we revisit the well-known Hong_Ou-Mandel(HOM)effect in which two photons,which meet at a beamsplitter,can interfere destructively,leading to null in coincidence counts.In a standard HOM measurement,the c...In this paper,we revisit the well-known Hong_Ou-Mandel(HOM)effect in which two photons,which meet at a beamsplitter,can interfere destructively,leading to null in coincidence counts.In a standard HOM measurement,the coincidence counts across the two output ports of the beamsplitter are monitored as the temporal delay be-tween the two photons prior to the beamsplitter is varied,resulting in the well-known HOM dip.We show,both theoretically and experimentally,that by leaving the delay fixed at a particular value while relying on spectrally resolved coincidence photon counting,we can reconstruct the HOM dip,which would have been obtained through a standard delay-scanning,non-spectrally resolved HOM measurement.We show that our numerical reconstruction procedure exhibits a novel dispersion cancellation effect,to all orders.We discuss how our present work can lead to a drastic reduction in the time required to acquire a HOM interferogram,and specifically discuss how this could be of particular importance for the implementation of fficient quantum optical coherence tomog-raphy devices.展开更多
High-efficiency submegahertz bandwidth photon pair generators will enable the field of quantum technology to transition from laboratory demonstrations to transformational applications involving information transfer fr...High-efficiency submegahertz bandwidth photon pair generators will enable the field of quantum technology to transition from laboratory demonstrations to transformational applications involving information transfer from photons to atoms.While spontaneous parametric processes are able to achieve high-efficiency photon pair generation,the spectral bandwidth tends to be relatively large,as defined by phase-matching constraints.To solve this fundamental limitation,we use an ultrahigh quality factor(Q)fused silica microsphere resonant cavity to form a photon pair generator.We present the full theory for the spontaneous four-wave mixing(SFWM)process in these devices,fully taking into account all relevant source characteristics in our experiments.The exceptionally narrow(down to kilohertz-scale)linewidths of these devices result in a reduction in the bandwidth of the photon pair generation,allowing submegahertz spectral bandwidth to be achieved.Specifically,using a pump source centered around 1550 nm,photon pairs with the signal and idler modes at wavelengths close to 1540 and 1560 nm,respectively,are demonstrated.We herald a single idler-mode photon by detecting the corresponding signal photon,filtered via transmission through a wavelength division multiplexing channel of choice.We demonstrate the extraction of the spectral profile of a single peak in the single-photon frequency comb from a measurement of the signal–idler time of emission distribution.These improvements in device design and experimental methods enabled the narrowest spectral width(Δν=366 k Hz)to date in a heralded single-photon source based on SFWM.展开更多
