The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda is one of the most damaging crop pests,and it has become major threat to the food security of many countries.In order to monitor possible invasion of this pest into China,a...The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda is one of the most damaging crop pests,and it has become major threat to the food security of many countries.In order to monitor possible invasion of this pest into China,a searchlight trap was established in March 2018 in western Yunnan Province,China,where it has served as the"first station"for many pests that have migrated from Myanmar to China.A number of suspected FAW moths were captured and identified by DNA sequencing.The results showed that the FAW moth was first captured on December 11 and formed its first immigration peak in mid-December 2018.DNA detection revealed that the early invading FAW population was the"corn-strain".The field survey indicated that the pest mainly colonized corn in Pu’er,Dehong and Baoshan areas.Migration trajectory simulation implied that the moths might have mainly come from the eastern area in the mid-latitude region of Myanmar(20-25°N,94-100°E).This case study confirmed the first immigration of FAW into China,and will be helpful for guiding monitoring and management work to control this pest.展开更多
The fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda,is a species native to the Americas and has spread to many countries in Africa and Asia in recent years.Proactive actions for potential invasion of S.frugiperda to China coordin...The fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda,is a species native to the Americas and has spread to many countries in Africa and Asia in recent years.Proactive actions for potential invasion of S.frugiperda to China coordinated by government agencies and agricultural extension systems resulted in timely detection in January 2019 in Yunnan province neighboring onto Myanmar.The extensive monitoring in southern provinces of China since February 2019 resulted in dynamic tracking of S.frugiperda spreading to 13 provincial regions in China within 4 months by May 10,2019,which is crucial for timely management actions in the fields.The first detections of S.frugiperda(corn strain)in China were confirmed using cytochrome oxidase subunit 1(COl)and triosephosphate isomerase(Tpi)genes molecular marker method.In addition to S.frugiperda,larvae of three other noctuid species with similar morphological appearance(S.litura,S.exigna and Mythimna separata)can occur simultaneously and cause similar damage in cornfields in southern China.Thus,we can use both morphological and molecular marker methods to compare larval stages of four noctuid species.Further,we discuss the risk of potential spread of invasive S.frugiperda to other regions and impact on corn production in China.展开更多

METHODS: LPS was continuously infused through the jugular artery of male Wistar rats at the dose of 2 mg/kg per hour. Changes in mesenteric microcirculation,such as diameters of arterioles and venules,velocity of RBCs in venules,leukocyte rolling,adhesion and emigration,free radicals released from post-capillary venules,FITC- albumin leakage and mast cell degranulation,were observed through an inverted intravital microscope assisted with CCD camera and SIT camera. Meanwhile,the expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 and the production of free radical in neutrophils,and the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were quantified by flow cytometry (FACS) in vitro. RESULTS: The continuous infusion with LPS resulted in a number of responses in microcirculation,including a significant increase in the positive region of venulestained with Monastral blue B,rolling and adhesion of leukocytes,production of oxygen radical in venular wall,albumin efflux and enhanced mast cell degranulation in vivo,all of which,except for the leukocyte rolling,were attenuated by the treatment with compound Danshen injection. Experiments performed in vitro further revealed that the expression of CD11b/CD18 and the production of oxygen free radical in neutrophils,and the expression of ICAM-1 in HUVECs were increased by exposure to LPS,and they were attenuated by compound Danshen injection. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that compound Danshen injection is an efficient drug with multi-targeting potential for improving the microcirculatory disturbance.展开更多

METHODS: The superior mesenteric artery (SMA) of C57/BL mice was ligated for 15 min to induce gut ischemia followed by 30-rain reperfusion. In another set of experiments, R1 was continuously infused (10 mg/kg per hour) from 10 min before I/R until the end of the investigation to study the influence of R1 on hepatic microcirculatory disturbance induced by gut I/R. Hepatic microcirculation was observed by inverted microscopy, and the vascular diameter, red blood cell (RBC) velocity and sinusoid perfusion were estimated. Leukocyte rolling and adhesion were observed under a laser confocal microscope. Thirty and 60 min after reperfusion, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), alanine aminotransferase (ALl') and aspartate transaminase (AST) in peripheral blood were determined. The expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 in neutrophils and tumor necrosis factor- alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) in plasma were evaluated by flow Oltometry. E-selectin and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in hepatic tissue were examined by immunofluorescence.RESULTS: After gut I/R, the diameters of terminal portal venules and central veins, RBC velocity and the number of perfused sinusoids were decreased, while the leukocyte rolling and adhesion, the expression of E-selectin in hepatic vessels and CD18 in neutrophils, IL-6, MCP-1, LDH, ALT and AST were increased. R1 treatment attenuated these alterations except for IL-6 and MCP-1. CONCLUSION: R1 prevents I/R-induced hepatic microcirculation disturbance and hepatocyte injury, The effect of R1 is related to its inhibition of leukocyte rolling and adhesion by inhibiting the expression of E-selectin in endothelium and CD18 in neutrophils.展开更多

RESULTS: p16 methylation was detected in 42% of the tumors.Dukes'staging was associated with p16 methylation status.p16 methylation occurred more frequently in Dukes'C and D patients (75.9%) than in Dukes'A and B patients (12.1%). Axial length, refraction error, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), and macular scans by optical coherence tomography(OCT) were recorded at baseline, 6mo, 1, 3and 5y after the surgery, and the complications were noted.·RESULTS: There were no statistical differences in axial length, refractive error, or BCVA between the PSR group and the control group at baseline. At the end of the follow-up, the mean axial length was 29.79 ±1.26 mm in the PSR group, which was significantly shorter than that in the control group(30.78±1.30 mm)(P 〈0.01), and the mean refractive error was-16.86 ±2.53 D in the PSR group, which was significantly lower than that in the control group(-19.18 ±2.12 D)(P 〈0.01). A statistically significant difference in BCVA was found between the PSR group(0.51 ±0.25 log MAR) and the control group(0.62±0.26 log MAR) at the postoperative 5-year follow-up(P 〈0.01). There were no serious complications during the 5-year follow-up period.·CONCLUSION: PSR can prevent axial elongation and myopia progression in eyes with pathological myopia.展开更多

In vivo, the general clinical symptoms, 2 h plasma glucose, urine glucose, oral glucose tolerance were examined after sixty days of feeding study to determine the effect of chitooligosaccharides in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. RESULTS: Chitooligosaccharides could effectively accelerate the proliferation of pancreatic islet cells. Chitooligosaccharides (100 mg/L) had direct and prominent effect on pancreastic β cells and insulin release from islet cells. All concentrations of chitooligosaccharides could improve the general clinical symptoms of diabetic rats, decrease the 2 h plasma glucose and urine glucose, and normalize the disorders of glucose tolerance.CONCLUSION: Chitooligosaccharides possess various biological activities and can be used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.展开更多

This study focuses on examining the characteristics of climate factors and extreme climate events in Northeast China during 1961- 2010 by using daily data from 104 stations, including surface air temperature, precipit...This study focuses on examining the characteristics of climate factors and extreme climate events in Northeast China during 1961- 2010 by using daily data from 104 stations, including surface air temperature, precipitation, wind speed, sunshine duration, and snow depth. Results show that annual mean temperature increased at a significant rate of 0.35℃ per decade, most notably in the Lesser Khingan Mountains and in winter. Annual rainfall had no obvious linear trend, while rainy days had a significant decreasing trend. So, the rain intensity increased. High-temperature days had a weak increasing trend, and low-temperature days and cold wave showed significant decreasing trends with rates of 3.9 d per decade and -0.64 times per decade, respectively. Frequency and spatial scope of low-temperature hazard reduced significantly. Warm days and warm nights significantly increased at 1.0 and 2.4 d per decade, while cold days and cold nights decreased significantly at -1.8 and -4.1 d per decade, respectively. The nighttime warming rate was much higher than that for daytime, indicating that nighttime warming had a greater contribution to the overall warming trend than daytime warming. The annual mean wind speed, gale days, and sunshine duration had significant decreasing trends at rates of-0.21 m s-1 per decade, -4.0 d per decade and -43.3 h per decade, respectively. The snow cover onset dates postponed at a rate of 1.2 d per decade, and the snow cover end date advanced at 1.5 d per decade, which leads to shorter snow cover duration by -2.7 d per decade. Meanwhile, the maximum snow depth decreased at -0.52 cm per decade. In addition, the snow cover duration shows a higher correlation with precipitation than with temperature, which suggests that precipitation plays a more important role in maintaining snow cover duration than temperature.展开更多

Mature-green che...The effects of hot water treatment in alleviating chilling injury and reducing ultrastructural damage of mature-green cherry tomatoes (Lycopersicun esculentum cv. cerasiform Alef) were investigated. Mature-green cherry tomato fruits were treated in water at 40℃ or 45℃ for 5 min or 15 min, and then stored at 5℃ for 19 days followed by ripening at 20℃. Water treatment at 40℃ for 15 min increased tolerance of cherry tomato fruits to chilling stress, indicating as low outbreak of skin lesion, high color a* value, and low electrolyte leakage. Treated fruits showed typical climacteric respiration and developed normal red color with chlorophyll degradation and lycopene accumulation during ripening, while fruits without treatment failed to develop red color and suffered skin lesion. After 19 days of chilling, heated fruits showed the conversion of chloroplast to chromoplast with the disappearance of thylakoids. Mitochondria and other cell organelles were not adversely affected in treated fruits. However, ultrastructures in pericarp cells in control fruits severely damaged with extensive disorganization of cytoplasm, swelled chloroplasts, distorted and unstacked thylakoids. Chloroplast was the first and most severely impacted organelle by chilling stress. Hot water treatment (40℃ for 15 min) before storage alleviated chilling injury in cherry tomato fruits. The results suggest that chilling injury is related with the damage of cell structure under chilling stress.展开更多
The fall armyworm(FAW,Lepidoptera:Noctuidae),Spodoptera frugiperda(J.E.Smith),invaded China in mid-December 2018;since then,it has become a great threat to Chinese agricultural production.Qinling Mountains-Huaihe Rive...The fall armyworm(FAW,Lepidoptera:Noctuidae),Spodoptera frugiperda(J.E.Smith),invaded China in mid-December 2018;since then,it has become a great threat to Chinese agricultural production.Qinling Mountains-Huaihe River region(QM-HRR)is the transitional zone between northern and southern China,an important region for both corn and wheat production.Based on the actual occurrence of QM-HRR invaded by FAW in 2019,daily mean surface air temperature and nocturnal wind conditions at 925 hPa were examined,and migratory routes of FAW moths originated in QM-HRR were modeled by a forward-trajectory-analysis approach.The results indicated that migratory activities of FAW adults emerged in QM-HRR were initiated from late June.The moths from western QM-HRR,where has complex topographic terrain,mainly flied to Ningxia and Inner Mongolia before mid September.However,FAW moths from the eastern QM-HRR primarily engaged in high-altitude northward transport assisted by the prevailing southerly winds before mid August,and the North China Plain was identified as the main destination of FAW.Meanwhile,the migration trajectories of FAW moths had a possibility to reach the Northeast China Plain.From mid August,FAW moths in eastern QM-HRR largely migrated southward and returned to the Yangtze River Valley.This study provides detailed information on the occurrence and migration routes of FAW moths from QM-HRR and will be helpful for early warning and development of integrated pest management strategies for the control of this exotic insect pest.展开更多
Background:Neovascular glaucoma (NVG) is a refractory glaucoma.The management of NVG is very difficult,and it is more difficult when combined with vitreous hemorrhage.The aim of this study was to investigate the ef...Background:Neovascular glaucoma (NVG) is a refractory glaucoma.The management of NVG is very difficult,and it is more difficult when combined with vitreous hemorrhage.The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ranibizumab plus combined surgery for NVG with vitreous hemorrhage.Methods:A total of 26 eyes of 26 NVG patients with vitreous hemorrhage were recruited in this study.The patients aged from 36 to 63 years with a mean age of 51.97 ± 7.60 years.The mean intraocular pressure (IOP) was 46.38 ± 5.75 mmHg (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa) while being treated with the maximum medical therapy.The mean best-corrected visual acuities converted to logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR BCVA) was 2.62 ± 0.43.All the patients underwent intravitreal injection of 0.5 mg (0.05 ml) ranibizumab combined with pars plana vitrectomy (PPV),pars plana lensectomy (PPL) with a preserved anterior capsule,panretinal photocoagulation (PRP),and trabeculectomy (intravitreal ranibizumab [IVR] + PPV + PPL + PRP + trabeculectomy).The IOP and logMAR BCVA were the main outcome measures in this study.Results:The follow-up period was 12 months.The mean postoperative IOPs were 26.38 ± 3.75 mmHg,21.36 ± 3.32 mmHg,1 8.57 ± 3.21 mmHg,and 16.68 ± 2.96 mmHg,respectively at 7 days,1 month,3 months,and 12 months after PPV + PPL + PRP + trabeculectomy.At the last follow-up,the mean IOP was significantly lower than the preoperative one (t =6.612,P =0.001).At 7 days,1 month,3 months,and 12 months after PPV + PPL + PRP + trabeculectomy,the mean logMAR BCVA were 1.30 ± 0.36,1.29 ± 0.37,1.29 ± 0.39,and 1.26 ± 0.29,respectively.At the last follow-up,the mean logMAR BCVA was significantly improved,and the difference was statistically significant compared with preoperative one (t =6.133,P =0.002).The logMAR BCVA improved in 22 eyes (84.62%),and remained stable in 4 eyes (15.38%).The neovascularization in the iris and the angle regressed significantly in all pa展开更多
Background Myopia is a common disorder and the incidence has increased yearly,but its pathogenesis remains unclear.The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and its...Background Myopia is a common disorder and the incidence has increased yearly,but its pathogenesis remains unclear.The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and its receptor c-Met in the development of lens-induced myopia in guinea pigs.Methods Sixty one-week-old guinea pigs were chosen.The right eyes were treated with-10.0 diopters (D) lenses as the lens-induced myopia group; the left eyes remained untreated as the control group.Six weeks later,refractive status and axial length were determined by streak retinoscopy and A-scan ultrasonography,respectively.The guinea pigs were killed and both eyes collected.Morphological changes were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining.The expression levels of HGF,c-Met,and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) mRNA and protein in the posterior sclera were analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blotting,respectively.Results The lens-induced myopia group became myopic with a significant increase in axial length and a significant decrease in refraction.Compared with the control group,the posterior retina and sclera were thinner in the lens-induced myopia group.The expression levels of HGF and MMP-2 mRNA and protein and of phosphorylated c-Met protein were significantly higher in the posterior sclera of the lens-induced myopia group than in the control group (all P <0.05).In the lens-induced myopia group,the expression level of MMP-2 in the posterior sclera positively correlated with the expression level of HGF (r=0.902,P <0.05) and phosphorylated c-Met (r=0.885,P <0.05).Conclusion HGF/c-Met might play a role in the development of lens-induced myopia in guinea pigs by upregulating the expression of MMP-2.展开更多
Background:Vacuum sealing drainage(VSD)and epidermal growth factor(EGF)both play an important role in the treatment of wounds.This study aims to explore the effects of the combination of VSD and EGF on wound healing a...Background:Vacuum sealing drainage(VSD)and epidermal growth factor(EGF)both play an important role in the treatment of wounds.This study aims to explore the effects of the combination of VSD and EGF on wound healing and the optimal concentration and time of EGF.Methods:We tested the proliferation and migration capacity of HaCaT and L929 cells at different EGF concentrations(0,1,5,10,and 100ng/ml)and different EGF action times(2,10,and 30min).A full-thickness skin defect model was established using male,30-week-old Bama pigs.The experiment included groups as follows:routine dressing change after covering with sterile auxiliary material(Control),continuous negative pressure drainage of the wound(VSD),continuous negative pressure drainage of the wound and injection of EGF 10min followed by removal by continuous lavage(V+E 10min),and continuous negative pressure drainage of the wound and injection of EGF 30min followed by removal by continuous lavage(V+E 30min).The wound healing rate,histological repair effect and collagen deposition were compared among the four groups.Results:An EGF concentration of 10ng/ml and an action time of 10min had optimal effects on the proliferation and migration capacities of HaCaT and L929 cells.The drug dispersion effect was better than drug infusion after bolus injection effect,and the contact surface was wider.Compared with other groups,the V+E 10min group promoted wound healing to the greatest extent and obtained the best histological score.Conclusions:A recombinant human epidermal growth factor(rhEGF)concentration of 10 ng/ml can promote the proliferation and migration of epithelial cells and fibroblasts to the greatest extent in vitro.VSD combined with rhEGF kept in place for 10min and then washed,can promote wound healing better than the other treatments in vitro.展开更多
Background:Several studies have investigated the association between smoking and anal abscess and anal fistula (AA/F) diseases.However,the relationship between cigarette smoking and AA/F remains unclear.This study ...Background:Several studies have investigated the association between smoking and anal abscess and anal fistula (AA/F) diseases.However,the relationship between cigarette smoking and AA/F remains unclear.This study sought to assess the role of smoking in anorectal male patients in a Chinese population.Methods:In this retrospective study,a questionnaire,including smoking history,was completed over a 3-month period by male inpatients in the Proctology Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital."Cases" were patients who had AA/F,and "controls" were patients with other anorectal complaints.Mann-Whitney U-test and Chi-square test were carried out to examine differences in baseline characteristics between groups.Subsequently,multivariate logistic regression was used to explore any related factors.Results:A total of 977 patients aged from 18 to 80 years were included,excluding those diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease or diabetes mellitus.Out of this total,805 patients (82.4%) completed the entire questionnaire.Among the 805 patients,334 (41.5%) were cases and 471 (58.5%) were controls.Results showed significant differences between cases and controls (x2 =205.2,P < 0.001),with smoking found to be associated with the development of AA/F diseases (odds ratio:12.331,95% confidence interval:8.364-18.179,P < 0.001).Conclusions:This study suggested smoking to be a potential risk factor for the development of AA/F diseases in a Chinese population.Consequently,current smoking patients should be informed of this relationship,and further research should be conducted to explore and investigate this further.展开更多

The current study aimed to explore the protective effect of RvD1 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) and its possible mechanism. Methods: Both in vivo and in vitro studies were conducted. Male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group (saline), LPS group (LPS 5 mg/kg), RvD1 group (RvD1 5 μg/kg + LPS 5 mg/kg), and blockage group (Boc-MLP 5 gg/kg + RvD1 5 gg/kg + LPS 5 mg/kg). Boc-MLP is a RvD 1 receptor blocker. The mice were intraperitoneally injected with these drugs and recorded for general condition for 48 h, while the blood and kidneys were harvested at 2, 6, 12, 24, and 48 h time points, respectively (n = 6 in each group at each time point). Human proximal tubule epithelial cells (HK-2) were randomly divided into control group (medium only), LPS group (LPS 5 μg/ml), RvD1 group (RvD1 10 ng/ml + LPS 5 μg/ml), and blockage group (Boc-MLP 10 ng/ml + RvD1 10 ng/ml + LPS 5 μg/ml). The cells were harvested for RNA at 2, 4, 6, 12, and 24 h time points, respectively (n = 6 in each group at each time point). Blood creatinine was tested by using an Abbott i-STAT portable blood gas analyzer. Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α level was detected by EL1SA. Kidney pathology was observed under hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and transmission electron microscope (TEM). We hired immune-histological staining, Western blotting, and fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction to detect the expression of RvD1 receptor ALX, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-KB) signaling pathway as well as caspase-3. Kidney apoptosis was evaluated by TUNEL staining. Results: RvD 1 receptor ALX was detected on renal tubular epithelials. AIM: To investigate the effects of posterior scleral reinforcement (PSR) combined with vitrectomy for myopic foveoschisis. ~ METHODS: Thirty-nine highly myopic eyes of 39 patients with myopic foveoschisis underwen...AIM: To investigate the effects of posterior scleral reinforcement (PSR) combined with vitrectomy for myopic foveoschisis. ~ METHODS: Thirty-nine highly myopic eyes of 39 patients with myopic foveoschisis underwent PSR combined with vitrectomy. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), refraction error, and the foveal thickness by optical coherence tomography (OCT) were recorded before and after the surgery, and complications were noted. RESULTS: The follow-up period was 12mo, and the main focus was on the results of the 12-month follow-up visit. The mean preoperative BCVA was 0.96±0.43 IogMAR. At the final follow-up visit, the mean BCVA was 0.46± 0.28 IogMAR, which significantly improved compared with the preoperative one (P =0.003). The BCVA improved in 33 eyes (84.62%), and unchanged in 6 eyes (15.38%). At the end of follow-up, the mean refractive error was -15.13 ±2.55 D, and the improvement was significantly compared with the preoperative one (-17.53±4.51 D) (P= 0.002). Twelve months after surgery, OCT showed complete resolution of the myopic foveoschisis and a reattachment of the fovea in 37 eyes (94.87%) and partial resolution in the remained two eyes (5.13%). The foveal thickness was obviously reduced at 12-month follow-up visit (196.45±36.35um) compared with the preoperative one (389,32±75.56um) (P=0.002). There were no serious complications during the 12mo follow-up period. CONCLUSION: PSR combined with vitrectomy is a safe and effective procedure for myopic foveoschisis with both visual and anatomic improvement.展开更多

Lain.) tubers were investigated ...The effects of different drying methods (hot-air drying, microwave drying and vacuum-freeze drying) on the antioxidant activity and antioxidants in sweet potato (lpomoea batatas L. Lain.) tubers were investigated to determine the potential drying process. Sweet potato tubers were cut into 5 mm thick slices, steamed at 100℃ for 10 rain, then dried in either hotair, microwave, or vacuum-freeze. The dried sweet potatoes in microwave possessed the highest antioxidant activity, while the lowest activity was observed in hot-air dried samples. The phenolic contents were positively correlated with scavenging activity and reducing power of DPPH^+. The microwave drying retains the highest antioxidant activity with the highest content of phenolic compounds in dried sweet potatoes. β-carotene and ascorbic acid showed minor contribution to the antioxidant activity in dried sweet potatoes.展开更多

文摘The fall armyworm(FAW),Spodoptera frugiperda is one of the most damaging crop pests,and it has become major threat to the food security of many countries.In order to monitor possible invasion of this pest into China,a searchlight trap was established in March 2018 in western Yunnan Province,China,where it has served as the"first station"for many pests that have migrated from Myanmar to China.A number of suspected FAW moths were captured and identified by DNA sequencing.The results showed that the FAW moth was first captured on December 11 and formed its first immigration peak in mid-December 2018.DNA detection revealed that the early invading FAW population was the"corn-strain".The field survey indicated that the pest mainly colonized corn in Pu’er,Dehong and Baoshan areas.Migration trajectory simulation implied that the moths might have mainly come from the eastern area in the mid-latitude region of Myanmar(20-25°N,94-100°E).This case study confirmed the first immigration of FAW into China,and will be helpful for guiding monitoring and management work to control this pest.

文摘The fall armyworm,Spodoptera frugiperda,is a species native to the Americas and has spread to many countries in Africa and Asia in recent years.Proactive actions for potential invasion of S.frugiperda to China coordinated by government agencies and agricultural extension systems resulted in timely detection in January 2019 in Yunnan province neighboring onto Myanmar.The extensive monitoring in southern provinces of China since February 2019 resulted in dynamic tracking of S.frugiperda spreading to 13 provincial regions in China within 4 months by May 10,2019,which is crucial for timely management actions in the fields.The first detections of S.frugiperda(corn strain)in China were confirmed using cytochrome oxidase subunit 1(COl)and triosephosphate isomerase(Tpi)genes molecular marker method.In addition to S.frugiperda,larvae of three other noctuid species with similar morphological appearance(S.litura,S.exigna and Mythimna separata)can occur simultaneously and cause similar damage in cornfields in southern China.Thus,we can use both morphological and molecular marker methods to compare larval stages of four noctuid species.Further,we discuss the risk of potential spread of invasive S.frugiperda to other regions and impact on corn production in China.
文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of compound Danshen injection on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced rat mesenteric microcirculatory dysfunctions and the underlying possible mechanism by an inverted intravital microscope and high-speed video camera system. METHODS: LPS was continuously infused through the jugular artery of male Wistar rats at the dose of 2 mg/kg per hour. Changes in mesenteric microcirculation,such as diameters of arterioles and venules,velocity of RBCs in venules,leukocyte rolling,adhesion and emigration,free radicals released from post-capillary venules,FITC- albumin leakage and mast cell degranulation,were observed through an inverted intravital microscope assisted with CCD camera and SIT camera. Meanwhile,the expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 and the production of free radical in neutrophils,and the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were quantified by flow cytometry (FACS) in vitro. RESULTS: The continuous infusion with LPS resulted in a number of responses in microcirculation,including a significant increase in the positive region of venulestained with Monastral blue B,rolling and adhesion of leukocytes,production of oxygen radical in venular wall,albumin efflux and enhanced mast cell degranulation in vivo,all of which,except for the leukocyte rolling,were attenuated by the treatment with compound Danshen injection. Experiments performed in vitro further revealed that the expression of CD11b/CD18 and the production of oxygen free radical in neutrophils,and the expression of ICAM-1 in HUVECs were increased by exposure to LPS,and they were attenuated by compound Danshen injection. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that compound Danshen injection is an efficient drug with multi-targeting potential for improving the microcirculatory disturbance.

文摘AIM: To assess the effect of notoginsenoside R1 on hepatic microcirculatory disturbance induced by gut ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in mice. METHODS: The superior mesenteric artery (SMA) of C57/BL mice was ligated for 15 min to induce gut ischemia followed by 30-rain reperfusion. In another set of experiments, R1 was continuously infused (10 mg/kg per hour) from 10 min before I/R until the end of the investigation to study the influence of R1 on hepatic microcirculatory disturbance induced by gut I/R. Hepatic microcirculation was observed by inverted microscopy, and the vascular diameter, red blood cell (RBC) velocity and sinusoid perfusion were estimated. Leukocyte rolling and adhesion were observed under a laser confocal microscope. Thirty and 60 min after reperfusion, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), alanine aminotransferase (ALl') and aspartate transaminase (AST) in peripheral blood were determined. The expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 in neutrophils and tumor necrosis factor- alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) in plasma were evaluated by flow Oltometry. E-selectin and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in hepatic tissue were examined by immunofluorescence.RESULTS: After gut I/R, the diameters of terminal portal venules and central veins, RBC velocity and the number of perfused sinusoids were decreased, while the leukocyte rolling and adhesion, the expression of E-selectin in hepatic vessels and CD18 in neutrophils, IL-6, MCP-1, LDH, ALT and AST were increased. R1 treatment attenuated these alterations except for IL-6 and MCP-1. CONCLUSION: R1 prevents I/R-induced hepatic microcirculation disturbance and hepatocyte injury, The effect of R1 is related to its inhibition of leukocyte rolling and adhesion by inhibiting the expression of E-selectin in endothelium and CD18 in neutrophils.

文摘AIM: To explore the association of methylation of the CpG island in the promotor of the p16 tumor suppressor gene with the clinicopathological characteristics of the colorectal cancers. METHODS: Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) was used to detect p16 methylation of 62 sporadic colorectal cancer specimens. RESULTS: p16 methylation was detected in 42% of the tumors.Dukes'staging was associated with p16 methylation status.p16 methylation occurred more frequently in Dukes'C and D patients (75.9%) than in Dukes'A and B patients (12.1%). CONCLUSION: p16 methylation plays a role in the carcinogenesis of a subset of colorectal cancer, and it might be linked to poor prognosis.

文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of posterior scleral reinforcement(PSR) in the treatment of pathological myopia.·METHODS: The study included 52 eyes in 43 patients with pathological myopia who underwent PSR(PSR group), and 52 eyes in 36 age- and myopia-matched patients who did not undergo such treatment as control group. Axial length, refraction error, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), and macular scans by optical coherence tomography(OCT) were recorded at baseline, 6mo, 1, 3and 5y after the surgery, and the complications were noted.·RESULTS: There were no statistical differences in axial length, refractive error, or BCVA between the PSR group and the control group at baseline. At the end of the follow-up, the mean axial length was 29.79 ±1.26 mm in the PSR group, which was significantly shorter than that in the control group(30.78±1.30 mm)(P 〈0.01), and the mean refractive error was-16.86 ±2.53 D in the PSR group, which was significantly lower than that in the control group(-19.18 ±2.12 D)(P 〈0.01). A statistically significant difference in BCVA was found between the PSR group(0.51 ±0.25 log MAR) and the control group(0.62±0.26 log MAR) at the postoperative 5-year follow-up(P 〈0.01). There were no serious complications during the 5-year follow-up period.·CONCLUSION: PSR can prevent axial elongation and myopia progression in eyes with pathological myopia.

文摘AIM:To investigate the effect of total salvianolic acid(TSA) on ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)-induced rat mesenteric microcirculatory dysfunctions.METHODS:Male Wistar rats were randomly distributed into 5 groups(n = 6 each):Sham group and I/R group(infused with saline),TSA group,TSA + I/R group and I/R + TSA group(infused with TSA,5 mg/kg per hour).Mesenteric I/R were conducted by a ligation of the mesenteric artery and vein(10 min) and subsequent release of the occlusion.TSA was continuously infused either starting from 10 min before the ischemia or 10 min after reperfusion.Changes in mesenteric microcirculatory variables,including diameter of venule,velocity of red blood cells in venule,leukocyte adhesion,free radicals released from venule,albumin leakage and mast cell degranulation,were observed through an inverted intravital microscope.Meanwhile,the expression of adhesion molecules CD11b/CD18 on neutrophils was evaluated by flow cytometry.Ultrastructural evidence of mesenteric venules damage was assessed after microcirculation observation.RESULTS:I/R led to multiple responses in mesenteric post-capillary venules,including a significant increase in the adhesion of leukocytes,production of oxygen radicals in the venular wall,albumin efflux and enhanced mast cell degranulation in vivo.All the I/R-induced manifestations were significantly reduced by pre-or post-treatment with TSA,with the exception that the I/R-induced increase in mast cell degranulation was inhibited only by pre-treatment with TSA.Moreover,preor post-treatment with TSA significantly attenuated the expression of CD11b/CD18 on neutrophils,reducing the increase in the number of caveolae in the endothelial cells of mesentery post-capillary venules induced by I/R.CONCLUSION:The results demonstrated that TSA protects from and ameliorates the microcirculation disturbance induced by I/R,which was associated with TSA inhibiting the production of oxygen-free radicals in the venular wall and the expression of CD11b/CD18 on neutrophils.

文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of chitooligosaccharides on proliferation of pancreatic islet cells, release of insulin and 2 h plasma glucose in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.METHODS: In vitro, the effect of chitooligosaccharides on proliferation of pancreatic islet cells and release of insulin was detected with optical microscopy, colorimetric assay, and radioimmunoassay respectively. In vivo, the general clinical symptoms, 2 h plasma glucose, urine glucose, oral glucose tolerance were examined after sixty days of feeding study to determine the effect of chitooligosaccharides in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. RESULTS: Chitooligosaccharides could effectively accelerate the proliferation of pancreatic islet cells. Chitooligosaccharides (100 mg/L) had direct and prominent effect on pancreastic β cells and insulin release from islet cells. All concentrations of chitooligosaccharides could improve the general clinical symptoms of diabetic rats, decrease the 2 h plasma glucose and urine glucose, and normalize the disorders of glucose tolerance.CONCLUSION: Chitooligosaccharides possess various biological activities and can be used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.

文摘One new (Sarsasapogenin O) and seven known steroids were isolated from the roots of Asparagus offlcinalis L. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, including various 2D-NMR techniques, hydrolysis, and by comparison of spectral data of known compounds. These compounds together with nine steroids which were previously isolated from this plant, were tested for cytotoxic activity. Among them, eight compounds displayed significant cytotoxiciUes against human A2780, HO-8910, Eca-109, MGC-803, CNE, LTEP-a-2, KB and mouse L1210 tumor cells.

文摘This study focuses on examining the characteristics of climate factors and extreme climate events in Northeast China during 1961- 2010 by using daily data from 104 stations, including surface air temperature, precipitation, wind speed, sunshine duration, and snow depth. Results show that annual mean temperature increased at a significant rate of 0.35℃ per decade, most notably in the Lesser Khingan Mountains and in winter. Annual rainfall had no obvious linear trend, while rainy days had a significant decreasing trend. So, the rain intensity increased. High-temperature days had a weak increasing trend, and low-temperature days and cold wave showed significant decreasing trends with rates of 3.9 d per decade and -0.64 times per decade, respectively. Frequency and spatial scope of low-temperature hazard reduced significantly. Warm days and warm nights significantly increased at 1.0 and 2.4 d per decade, while cold days and cold nights decreased significantly at -1.8 and -4.1 d per decade, respectively. The nighttime warming rate was much higher than that for daytime, indicating that nighttime warming had a greater contribution to the overall warming trend than daytime warming. The annual mean wind speed, gale days, and sunshine duration had significant decreasing trends at rates of-0.21 m s-1 per decade, -4.0 d per decade and -43.3 h per decade, respectively. The snow cover onset dates postponed at a rate of 1.2 d per decade, and the snow cover end date advanced at 1.5 d per decade, which leads to shorter snow cover duration by -2.7 d per decade. Meanwhile, the maximum snow depth decreased at -0.52 cm per decade. In addition, the snow cover duration shows a higher correlation with precipitation than with temperature, which suggests that precipitation plays a more important role in maintaining snow cover duration than temperature.

文摘The effects of hot water treatment in alleviating chilling injury and reducing ultrastructural damage of mature-green cherry tomatoes (Lycopersicun esculentum cv. cerasiform Alef) were investigated. Mature-green cherry tomato fruits were treated in water at 40℃ or 45℃ for 5 min or 15 min, and then stored at 5℃ for 19 days followed by ripening at 20℃. Water treatment at 40℃ for 15 min increased tolerance of cherry tomato fruits to chilling stress, indicating as low outbreak of skin lesion, high color a* value, and low electrolyte leakage. Treated fruits showed typical climacteric respiration and developed normal red color with chlorophyll degradation and lycopene accumulation during ripening, while fruits without treatment failed to develop red color and suffered skin lesion. After 19 days of chilling, heated fruits showed the conversion of chloroplast to chromoplast with the disappearance of thylakoids. Mitochondria and other cell organelles were not adversely affected in treated fruits. However, ultrastructures in pericarp cells in control fruits severely damaged with extensive disorganization of cytoplasm, swelled chloroplasts, distorted and unstacked thylakoids. Chloroplast was the first and most severely impacted organelle by chilling stress. Hot water treatment (40℃ for 15 min) before storage alleviated chilling injury in cherry tomato fruits. The results suggest that chilling injury is related with the damage of cell structure under chilling stress.

文摘The fall armyworm(FAW,Lepidoptera:Noctuidae),Spodoptera frugiperda(J.E.Smith),invaded China in mid-December 2018;since then,it has become a great threat to Chinese agricultural production.Qinling Mountains-Huaihe River region(QM-HRR)is the transitional zone between northern and southern China,an important region for both corn and wheat production.Based on the actual occurrence of QM-HRR invaded by FAW in 2019,daily mean surface air temperature and nocturnal wind conditions at 925 hPa were examined,and migratory routes of FAW moths originated in QM-HRR were modeled by a forward-trajectory-analysis approach.The results indicated that migratory activities of FAW adults emerged in QM-HRR were initiated from late June.The moths from western QM-HRR,where has complex topographic terrain,mainly flied to Ningxia and Inner Mongolia before mid September.However,FAW moths from the eastern QM-HRR primarily engaged in high-altitude northward transport assisted by the prevailing southerly winds before mid August,and the North China Plain was identified as the main destination of FAW.Meanwhile,the migration trajectories of FAW moths had a possibility to reach the Northeast China Plain.From mid August,FAW moths in eastern QM-HRR largely migrated southward and returned to the Yangtze River Valley.This study provides detailed information on the occurrence and migration routes of FAW moths from QM-HRR and will be helpful for early warning and development of integrated pest management strategies for the control of this exotic insect pest.
文摘Background:Neovascular glaucoma (NVG) is a refractory glaucoma.The management of NVG is very difficult,and it is more difficult when combined with vitreous hemorrhage.The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of ranibizumab plus combined surgery for NVG with vitreous hemorrhage.Methods:A total of 26 eyes of 26 NVG patients with vitreous hemorrhage were recruited in this study.The patients aged from 36 to 63 years with a mean age of 51.97 ± 7.60 years.The mean intraocular pressure (IOP) was 46.38 ± 5.75 mmHg (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa) while being treated with the maximum medical therapy.The mean best-corrected visual acuities converted to logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR BCVA) was 2.62 ± 0.43.All the patients underwent intravitreal injection of 0.5 mg (0.05 ml) ranibizumab combined with pars plana vitrectomy (PPV),pars plana lensectomy (PPL) with a preserved anterior capsule,panretinal photocoagulation (PRP),and trabeculectomy (intravitreal ranibizumab [IVR] + PPV + PPL + PRP + trabeculectomy).The IOP and logMAR BCVA were the main outcome measures in this study.Results:The follow-up period was 12 months.The mean postoperative IOPs were 26.38 ± 3.75 mmHg,21.36 ± 3.32 mmHg,1 8.57 ± 3.21 mmHg,and 16.68 ± 2.96 mmHg,respectively at 7 days,1 month,3 months,and 12 months after PPV + PPL + PRP + trabeculectomy.At the last follow-up,the mean IOP was significantly lower than the preoperative one (t =6.612,P =0.001).At 7 days,1 month,3 months,and 12 months after PPV + PPL + PRP + trabeculectomy,the mean logMAR BCVA were 1.30 ± 0.36,1.29 ± 0.37,1.29 ± 0.39,and 1.26 ± 0.29,respectively.At the last follow-up,the mean logMAR BCVA was significantly improved,and the difference was statistically significant compared with preoperative one (t =6.133,P =0.002).The logMAR BCVA improved in 22 eyes (84.62%),and remained stable in 4 eyes (15.38%).The neovascularization in the iris and the angle regressed significantly in all pa
文摘Background Myopia is a common disorder and the incidence has increased yearly,but its pathogenesis remains unclear.The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and its receptor c-Met in the development of lens-induced myopia in guinea pigs.Methods Sixty one-week-old guinea pigs were chosen.The right eyes were treated with-10.0 diopters (D) lenses as the lens-induced myopia group; the left eyes remained untreated as the control group.Six weeks later,refractive status and axial length were determined by streak retinoscopy and A-scan ultrasonography,respectively.The guinea pigs were killed and both eyes collected.Morphological changes were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining.The expression levels of HGF,c-Met,and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) mRNA and protein in the posterior sclera were analyzed by RT-PCR and Western blotting,respectively.Results The lens-induced myopia group became myopic with a significant increase in axial length and a significant decrease in refraction.Compared with the control group,the posterior retina and sclera were thinner in the lens-induced myopia group.The expression levels of HGF and MMP-2 mRNA and protein and of phosphorylated c-Met protein were significantly higher in the posterior sclera of the lens-induced myopia group than in the control group (all P <0.05).In the lens-induced myopia group,the expression level of MMP-2 in the posterior sclera positively correlated with the expression level of HGF (r=0.902,P <0.05) and phosphorylated c-Met (r=0.885,P <0.05).Conclusion HGF/c-Met might play a role in the development of lens-induced myopia in guinea pigs by upregulating the expression of MMP-2.

文摘Background:Vacuum sealing drainage(VSD)and epidermal growth factor(EGF)both play an important role in the treatment of wounds.This study aims to explore the effects of the combination of VSD and EGF on wound healing and the optimal concentration and time of EGF.Methods:We tested the proliferation and migration capacity of HaCaT and L929 cells at different EGF concentrations(0,1,5,10,and 100ng/ml)and different EGF action times(2,10,and 30min).A full-thickness skin defect model was established using male,30-week-old Bama pigs.The experiment included groups as follows:routine dressing change after covering with sterile auxiliary material(Control),continuous negative pressure drainage of the wound(VSD),continuous negative pressure drainage of the wound and injection of EGF 10min followed by removal by continuous lavage(V+E 10min),and continuous negative pressure drainage of the wound and injection of EGF 30min followed by removal by continuous lavage(V+E 30min).The wound healing rate,histological repair effect and collagen deposition were compared among the four groups.Results:An EGF concentration of 10ng/ml and an action time of 10min had optimal effects on the proliferation and migration capacities of HaCaT and L929 cells.The drug dispersion effect was better than drug infusion after bolus injection effect,and the contact surface was wider.Compared with other groups,the V+E 10min group promoted wound healing to the greatest extent and obtained the best histological score.Conclusions:A recombinant human epidermal growth factor(rhEGF)concentration of 10 ng/ml can promote the proliferation and migration of epithelial cells and fibroblasts to the greatest extent in vitro.VSD combined with rhEGF kept in place for 10min and then washed,can promote wound healing better than the other treatments in vitro.
文摘Background:Several studies have investigated the association between smoking and anal abscess and anal fistula (AA/F) diseases.However,the relationship between cigarette smoking and AA/F remains unclear.This study sought to assess the role of smoking in anorectal male patients in a Chinese population.Methods:In this retrospective study,a questionnaire,including smoking history,was completed over a 3-month period by male inpatients in the Proctology Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital."Cases" were patients who had AA/F,and "controls" were patients with other anorectal complaints.Mann-Whitney U-test and Chi-square test were carried out to examine differences in baseline characteristics between groups.Subsequently,multivariate logistic regression was used to explore any related factors.Results:A total of 977 patients aged from 18 to 80 years were included,excluding those diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease or diabetes mellitus.Out of this total,805 patients (82.4%) completed the entire questionnaire.Among the 805 patients,334 (41.5%) were cases and 471 (58.5%) were controls.Results showed significant differences between cases and controls (x2 =205.2,P < 0.001),with smoking found to be associated with the development of AA/F diseases (odds ratio:12.331,95% confidence interval:8.364-18.179,P < 0.001).Conclusions:This study suggested smoking to be a potential risk factor for the development of AA/F diseases in a Chinese population.Consequently,current smoking patients should be informed of this relationship,and further research should be conducted to explore and investigate this further.

文摘Background: Resolvin D1 (RvD1) is a newly found anti-inflammatory bioactive compound derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids. The current study aimed to explore the protective effect of RvD1 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) and its possible mechanism. Methods: Both in vivo and in vitro studies were conducted. Male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group (saline), LPS group (LPS 5 mg/kg), RvD1 group (RvD1 5 μg/kg + LPS 5 mg/kg), and blockage group (Boc-MLP 5 gg/kg + RvD1 5 gg/kg + LPS 5 mg/kg). Boc-MLP is a RvD 1 receptor blocker. The mice were intraperitoneally injected with these drugs and recorded for general condition for 48 h, while the blood and kidneys were harvested at 2, 6, 12, 24, and 48 h time points, respectively (n = 6 in each group at each time point). Human proximal tubule epithelial cells (HK-2) were randomly divided into control group (medium only), LPS group (LPS 5 μg/ml), RvD1 group (RvD1 10 ng/ml + LPS 5 μg/ml), and blockage group (Boc-MLP 10 ng/ml + RvD1 10 ng/ml + LPS 5 μg/ml). The cells were harvested for RNA at 2, 4, 6, 12, and 24 h time points, respectively (n = 6 in each group at each time point). Blood creatinine was tested by using an Abbott i-STAT portable blood gas analyzer. Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α level was detected by EL1SA. Kidney pathology was observed under hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining and transmission electron microscope (TEM). We hired immune-histological staining, Western blotting, and fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction to detect the expression of RvD1 receptor ALX, nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-KB) signaling pathway as well as caspase-3. Kidney apoptosis was evaluated by TUNEL staining. Results: RvD 1 receptor ALX was detected on renal tubular epithelials. 文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of posterior scleral reinforcement (PSR) combined with vitrectomy for myopic foveoschisis. ~ METHODS: Thirty-nine highly myopic eyes of 39 patients with myopic foveoschisis underwent PSR combined with vitrectomy. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), refraction error, and the foveal thickness by optical coherence tomography (OCT) were recorded before and after the surgery, and complications were noted. RESULTS: The follow-up period was 12mo, and the main focus was on the results of the 12-month follow-up visit. The mean preoperative BCVA was 0.96±0.43 IogMAR. At the final follow-up visit, the mean BCVA was 0.46± 0.28 IogMAR, which significantly improved compared with the preoperative one (P =0.003). The BCVA improved in 33 eyes (84.62%), and unchanged in 6 eyes (15.38%). At the end of follow-up, the mean refractive error was -15.13 ±2.55 D, and the improvement was significantly compared with the preoperative one (-17.53±4.51 D) (P= 0.002). Twelve months after surgery, OCT showed complete resolution of the myopic foveoschisis and a reattachment of the fovea in 37 eyes (94.87%) and partial resolution in the remained two eyes (5.13%). The foveal thickness was obviously reduced at 12-month follow-up visit (196.45±36.35um) compared with the preoperative one (389,32±75.56um) (P=0.002). There were no serious complications during the 12mo follow-up period. CONCLUSION: PSR combined with vitrectomy is a safe and effective procedure for myopic foveoschisis with both visual and anatomic improvement.

文摘The effects of different drying methods (hot-air drying, microwave drying and vacuum-freeze drying) on the antioxidant activity and antioxidants in sweet potato (lpomoea batatas L. Lain.) tubers were investigated to determine the potential drying process. Sweet potato tubers were cut into 5 mm thick slices, steamed at 100℃ for 10 rain, then dried in either hotair, microwave, or vacuum-freeze. The dried sweet potatoes in microwave possessed the highest antioxidant activity, while the lowest activity was observed in hot-air dried samples. The phenolic contents were positively correlated with scavenging activity and reducing power of DPPH^+. The microwave drying retains the highest antioxidant activity with the highest content of phenolic compounds in dried sweet potatoes. β-carotene and ascorbic acid showed minor contribution to the antioxidant activity in dried sweet potatoes.
