A^(6)Li(^(16)O,^(19)Ne^(∗))^(3)H multi-nucleon transfer-reaction experiment was performed to populate the highly excited states in^(19)Ne.The subsequent decay particles,^(4)He or protons from the^(19)Ne resonant state...A^(6)Li(^(16)O,^(19)Ne^(∗))^(3)H multi-nucleon transfer-reaction experiment was performed to populate the highly excited states in^(19)Ne.The subsequent decay particles,^(4)He or protons from the^(19)Ne resonant states,were detected in coincidence with the recoil 3 H.The excitation-energy spectra of^(19)Ne were reconstructed using the detected proton or^(4)He and the deduced^(18)F or^(15)O data,respectively.A broad resonance at about 7.85 MeV(1/2^(+))was observed,with partial decay widths different from the previously reported values,which may have a significant impact on the destruction of 18 F in astrophysical processes.Several resonances up to very high excitation energies have been identified with a largeα-clustering strength,which confirm the formation of the cluster structure with a one-hole configuration in light nuclei and encourage further systematic studies of the cluster structure in^(19)Ne.展开更多

A number of resonant states of24Mg were reconstructed up to an excitation energy of approximately 30 MeV. Owing to the experimentally achieved excellent resolutions of the Q-value and excitationenergy spectra, the relative decay widths for each resonant state in24Mg to various final states of20Ne were extracted, along with the total decay width. Three large sized glass resistive plate chambers (RPCs) are built and applied to measure the spatial resolution of the detector. The readout strips are collected to a LC delay-line and the time difference is used to...Three large sized glass resistive plate chambers (RPCs) are built and applied to measure the spatial resolution of the detector. The readout strips are collected to a LC delay-line and the time difference is used to determine the position. Cosmic rays are triggered by a set of two scintillation counters and the coincidently measured positions from the three RPCs are used to deduce the position uncertainty. In average a spatial resolution of 0.90 mm (FWHM) is obtained for a single RPC, with a good uniformity across the detection area. This result suggests that large sized glass RPC operating in the avalanche mode is a promising candidate for the muon tomography detection system.展开更多
The ^(12)C+^(12)C fusion reaction was studied in the range of E_(c.m.)=8.9 to 21 MeV using the active-target Time Projection Chamber.With full information on all tracks of the reaction products,cross sections of the^(...The ^(12)C+^(12)C fusion reaction was studied in the range of E_(c.m.)=8.9 to 21 MeV using the active-target Time Projection Chamber.With full information on all tracks of the reaction products,cross sections of the^(12)C(^(12)C,^(8)Be)^(16)O_(g.s.)channel and the ^(12)C(^(12)C,3a)^(12)C channel could be measured down to the level of a few milibarns.The ^(12)C(^(12)C,^(8)Be)^(16)O_(g.s.)reaction channel was determined to be 10_(-8)^(+24) mb at E_(c.m.)=11.1 MeV,supporting the direct a transfer reaction mechanism.The ^(12)C(^(12)C,3α)^(12)C reaction channel was studied for the first time using an exclusive measurement.Our result does not confirm the anomaly behavior reported in the previous inclusive measurement by Kolata et al.[Phys.Rev.C 21,579(1980)].Our comparisons with statistical model calculations suggest that the 3 a channel is dominated by the fusion evaporation process at E_(c.m.)>19 MeV.The additional contribution of the 3 a channel increases the fusion reaction cross section by 10% at energies above 20 MeV.We also find that an additional reaction mechanism is needed to explain the measured cross section at E_(c.m.)<15 MeV at which point the statistical model prediction vanishes.展开更多

A Monte Carlo simulation code based on G...To perform a kinematically complete measurement of the dissociation reaction for neutron-rich nuclei, a multi-neutron correlation spectrometer is proposed at Peking University. A Monte Carlo simulation code based on GEANT4 is developed for a single scintillation bar which processes not only the energy deposition but also the light propagation in the scintillator and the light collection and conversion to signal at the end of the bar in a realistic way. The simulating method is described in detail in this paper, and the timing and position resolutions and detector efficiency are studied based on the simulation and compared with the experimental results. A new method of crosstalk rejection has been demonstrated to be important for the design of the whole spectrometer.展开更多

A prototype chamber of a size of 10 cm×10 cm was made together with the readout electronics circuit. A very clean signal with very low background noise was obtained by applying a transformer between the delay-line and the pre-amplifier in order to match the resistance. Along the anode wire direction a position resolution of less than 0.5 mm was achieved with a ^55Fe-5.9 keV X ray source. The simple structure, large effective area and high position resolution allow the application of a gas chamber of this kind to many purposes.展开更多
