Methods Seventy-two Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups(n=24 for each group). The animals in the control group were sham operation group. The ischemia animal model was made by clamping bilateral common carotid arteries and hypotension (MAP=40±5mmHg). The rats in the desflurane group underwent 1.0 MAC desflurane inhalation for 1 hr before ischemia. We evaluated the neurological behavioral assessments through neurological tests, the expression of apoptosis related genes Bcl-2 and Bax through immunohistochemical method, at 6,24,48 hr after reperfusion. Results The neurological behavioral scores in the desflurane group were better than those of the ischemia group at every time point(P<0.05). The expression of gene Bax was lower than ischemia group(P<0.05); the expression of gene Bcl-2 was higher than ischemia group(P<0.05). Conclusion 1.0 MAC desflurane preconditioning has a brain protective effect on inschemia/reperfusion injury in rats. The mechanism of desflurane has relationship with the regulation of apoptosis related genes Bcl-2 and Bax.展开更多
