Marc Riboud and Henry Cartier-Bresson are arguably the two living doyens in photographic circles. The former has come personally to Pingyao while the latter, being too old for such a journey, has sent along his wife instead: Martin Franck, another heavyweight in the contemporary photographic world. Christian Caujolles is the Director of VU agency in Paris. Christian is also one of the founders of PhotoEspana and assists organization for this famous European photography festival. Colin Jacobson is a famous European researcher of photojournalism and co-editor of Reportage, a well-known photojournalism magazine. Jean Francois Leroy is one of the founders and Director of Visa pour L’image. Griyev Oleg (translation), Deputy Director of the Moscow House of Photography, presented his slide show on Russian photographic history, receiving a warm welcome from all the participants. Agnes de Gouvion Saint-cyr, Director of the National Photographic Center under the Cultural Ministry of France, is one of the most important persons in the world’s photographic community. It is precisely the presence of these masters of visual arts coupled with their lectures at the workshops that have thrown domestic and overseas photographers into ecstasies.
