摘要
本文细致梳理《聊斋志异》的经典日译——柴田天马译本的百年翻译出版历程,挖掘与此相关的人物与故事,在此基础上探讨其译文文体变迁,并通过比较同时代译文析出其译文特色。研究发现柴田天马译本的翻译出版在日本社会文化语境变迁中有过大起大落,但在友人支持以及其本人锲而不舍的坚持下实现多次发行,有力促进了《聊斋志异》在日本的传播。其译文在百年间也随着日本文字和日语文体的改革而略有变化,但柴田在有生之年始终坚守其活用振假名、保留汉语语词的翻译策略,这种执着是他向外表达自我文化取向的一种方式。
This article carefully combs the hundred years of translation and publication of Tenma Shibata’s translation of Strange Tales from the Liaozhai Studio,and explores the characters and stories related to it.Then it discusses the stylistic changes of his translation,and figures out its translation characteristics by comparing the translations of the same period.The study finds that the translation and publication of Tianma Shibata’s translation had ups and downs in the changes of Japanese social and cultural contexts,but with the support of friends and his perseverance,his translation was issued many times,which effectively promoted the spread of Strange Tales from the Liaozhai Studio in Japan.His translation changed slightly with the reform of Japanese characters and styles in the past hundred years,but Tenma Shibata has always adhered to his translation strategy of using Kana and retaining Chinese words,which is a way for him to express his own cultural orientation.
