A Case Study of an Effective EFL Teacher's Practical Knowledge about Tertiary-Level English Reading Instruction: From the Perspective of “Images”

摘要 本文通过对课堂观察、访谈和学生问卷等资料的分析,探究一名优秀英语教师阅读教学实践性知识的核心内容和特点。研究表明:这位教师英语阅读教学实践性知识的核心内容集中体现在"引导学生发现"的意象中。这一意象贯穿于她的学科知识、课程知识和学科教学知识等实践性知识构成成分,反映了其英语阅读教学实践性知识的三个特点:促进批判性阅读,语言教学中融入人文教育,阅读教学以专业化生活为基础。 This study investigates the core contents and characteristics of the practical knowledge of an effective EFL teacher teaching tertiary-level English reading. Through class observation, interviews of the teacher, questionnaires of students, etc., this study finds that the image of "leading students to discover" repre- sents the core contents of this teacher' s practical knowledge about teaching tertiary-level English reading and is the thread to weave the different components of her practical knowledge, including subject matter knowledge, curriculum knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge, etc. This image indicates that this teacher's practical knowledge has the characteristics of promoting critical reading, integrating humanistic education with language teaching and being based on her professional life experience.
