The recent advances and trends of cephalosporins and their intermediates were reviewed, with focuses on intermediates of small-scale-cephems and the forth generation of cephalosporin. For future development, more concerns are suggested about cephalosporins such as cefaclor, eefixime, cefozopran, and the intermediates such as GCLE, 7-ACCA, 7-AVCA, 2-（2-Amino-4-thiazolyl）-2-methoxyiminoaeetic acid thiobenzothiazole ester.
